Movie Reviews for May 2001

Here I post Reviews of Anime films and short series that I have seen. Be patient, That's a lot of typing. :)


I Review Three Films per Month and give you a generally good idea of whether or not it's worth your time to drive to Hastings, or Blockbuster or Best Buy at 11pm in the rain. The summary is self-explanatory, unless you can't read, but then I guess you wouldn't be surfing the net then. The Good explains all the main highlights or "reasons to watch" and the bad, not. The Ugly is a gore factor, or messiness of the film, a kind of rating of whether or not you shoud have that pizza and beer with the film. My rating system is based on the oh so familiar drama masks. There are 5 per each film. The more happy, the better the movie. All sad, don't waste your time.

Summary: Luckily for me, this movie didn't ruin the series. It has a seperate plot and a nice one at that. Kenshin's painful and forgotten past comes back to haunt him when the best friend of a man he has killed wants revenge.
Good: I like the plot a lot. The story was pretty moving and I already liked the characters, no contest to that.
Bad: I guess you can complian about plot holes and crap if you want to relate it to the series but look at all the DBZ films etc and realize they are seperate entities.
Ugly: Lots of blood but it's a film about the samurai, expect it.

Rating:

Summary: This movie was based off of the popular PC game and, surprisingly, it came out pretty well. The plot works well for a short 60 min but it's so involved that you'd swear the film was longer. The main man here is Blade. He's a HardCorps cop involved in a crime centered around mysterious kidnappings.
Good: Good film, not the best I've ever seen but it had a lot of potential.
Bad: DO NOT watch the english version of this movie! It ruins the ending and plot 3 minutes into it. Also, I wish the movie had been a little bit longer.
Ugly: Plenty of gruesome ghoulies. Up there between Akira and Resident Evil. -_^

Rating:

Summary: Okay... two cops ,Dee and Ryo, are in love and they have to solve a murder mystery. You didn't hear this from me, but I think they're gay. LOL! They are; that's the twist.
Good: This is actually a cute movie. Funny and sweet. I liked it once I got past the lovers thing.
Bad: If you are turned off by men kissing or whatnot, I guess this film isn't for you. It's not a porno, don't worry. No sex.
Ugly: Some minor bloodshed but nothing too nasty.
