Movie Reviews for April 2001Here I post Reviews of Anime films and short series that I have seen. Be patient, That's a lot of typing. :)![]() I Review Three Films per Month and give you a generally good idea of whether or not it's worth your time to drive to Hastings, or Blockbuster or Best Buy at 11pm in the rain. The summary is self-explanatory, unless you can't read, but then I guess you wouldn't be surfing the net then. The Good explains all the main highlights or "reasons to watch" and the bad, not. The Ugly is a gore factor, or messiness of the film, a kind of rating of whether or not you shoud have that pizza and beer with the film. If you have any requests for reviews, mail me and I'll see what can be done. My rating system is based on the oh so familiar drama masks. There are 5 per each film. The more happy, the better the movie. All sad, don't waste your time. Past Movie Reviews

A Wind Named Amnesia
Summary: This story centers around a young man named Wataru. He is one of the few people left on earth who have their memory after a wind blew across the world erasing mankinds' past. We've now resorted back to instinct and are basically neanderthals once more. As he travels, Wataru encounters several different outcomes from the disaster and eventually finds out what caused it. |
Grave of the Fireflies
Summary: This movie takes place in the center of a war damaged Japan. It focuses on how the lives of two kids were affected by the battles. Seita, the older brother and his little sister Setsuko. There are three things certain about this film: you will fall in love with Setsuko, cry along with Seita, and hate their fat bitch of an aunt. |
Kite
Summary: This tale centers around sweet, innocent and deadly Sawa. She looks like your average girl but packs more than a sandwich in that lunchbox. She befriends another vigilante hunter(Oburi) who also works for her "boss", Akai. The head honcho is jealous or angry or maybe a little of both but he doesn't like it. Add that to the fact that Sawa is sick of being a puppet. Lots of action and great animation. You'll like how this one turns out even if you have to watch it again to figure it out. |
