Arigatou!! ^_^ Don't Go...I Need You Part Four: All Things Happen for a Reason By: Silver Star The sun came over the horizon and light pour over everything like molten gold. The breeze blew the thin silk drapes back without troubles and light spill onto the white carpet of the room. Twenty-one years old Rena Glick, the former Serena Tsukino, sat up slowly from the warm cocoon of her bed, stretched and yawned. She threw back the bed cover and swung out of her bed. Six years ago, if someone told her that six years later, she would get up herself at sunrise, she would have laughed and denied that as impossible. But that had all changed. She was no longer Serena Tsukino, but Rena Glick, the adopted daughter of Sharon Glick. As Serena walked out to the balcony, she mused about all the changes she had gone through in the past six years. She is no longer Sailor Moon, as she is no longer Serena. She is now a responsible young woman with a well-paid job, and a family. A family that doesn't think she's a crybaby or a looser. She has friends, too, and they don't think she's a looser, either. But there's always a part of her that's empty. She walked over to her window and threw back the drapes, although that wasn't needed. She breathes in the fresh air of morning and smiled as she watched the sun climb higher. Six years ago, she would never thought she'll be so lucky, either, been accepted by Sharon and all. She used to think about her luck. Was it really luck that day on the plane, or is it something else? Serena shrugged but hadn't forgotten about the sort of trance that Sharon had gone into before asking to live with her. She grabbed the clothes she had laid out last night, and a towel, and started toward the bathroom third door down her room. She quickly dressed after she had gotten her shower and made her way down the stairs to the kitchen to get the breakfast she's craving right now. In all six years, the only thing that didn't change is that she'll still pig out, only if it's not informal, of course. She giggled as she pictures herself stuffing her face off in front of her client. Of course, a person like Rena Glick would never do that. NOT! Sharon raised her eyebrow when Serena came in, still laughing at the image of her stuffing her face out. "What? Did you just watched cartoon? Or did you realized that stuffing your face in front of a client is not a good idea?" Sharon asked, her brow practically disappeared in her hairline. "Hey, how did you know that I was thinking about that?" Serena asked, opening the fridge door to look for something to eat. Sharon shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe I can read your mind." She grinned. "Uh-huh, I'm sure that's gonna happen." Serena said sarcastically, walking toward the counter that Sharon was leaning on with a carton of orange juice in her hand. "Anyhow, I gotta get there early today. John says there's something important he have to tell me." "Oh, really?" Sharon asked, lifting the cup of coffee and took a drink. "Hm, not bad." She added, praising the taste of the coffee. "Yeah. That's what he said anyway." Serena shrugged, putting two pieces of bread into the toaster. "No idea what this 'important thing' is, though." She took out a glass from a cabinet and pours the orange juice into it. There was a sudden feeling of dread as she finished the sentence. Serena gulped a little and steadied the hand that held the carton. "Rena? You alright?" the worried voice of Sharon cut through the hazy dread in Serena's mind and brought her back to reality. "I-I'm not sure," Serena answered unsteadily as she thumped down onto the floor, not caring that she looked like a little kid that way. No matter how much she tried, she could not push the feeling away. It's almost as if its embedded there all this time and that it's just too deep to get out. "Some- something-there's something going on. I don't know what." "Rena, are you sure you want to go to work today?" Sharon asked. Serena started a little, not realizing that the woman had moved to kneel beside her in the time she was thinking. "I could just call in and say you're sick, not that it's not true." "I-" there's something warning her not to go to work, but she won't give in. After all, didn't all those monsters warned her not to fight them, only to turn out she won? She may be stupid before, but she isn't now. Something is calling for her, just under the alarm of the warning. Now that she made her decision, she knew she wouldn't change her mind. "I'll be alright, Sharon. Don't worry, I'll be alright. And besides, I have to hear that announcement of John's." Serena stood up and dusted off her clothes, trying to keep Sharon from noticing her shaking legs. "Well, if you want to go, that's fine with me, but on one condition. You must come back after you got that "important thing" of yours, and that I must come with you. Who knows, you might get lost in that big building of yours," Sharon grinned, successfully cutting the tension. Serena smiled also. "Okay, then. It's a deal!" ~~~~~~~~~~~ Serena walked out of the office. Her steps were stiff and her face was pale, whiter than paper, almost like a ghost. Her eyes seemed to look past the empty hallway, almost as if she's watching something. And to her, she is. She's watching her last year in her old home. She remembered that fateful day where she was turned from a princess into an outcast. She remembered it all too well. After all, how can you forget your best friends, who knows your deepest secrets, betraying you? And how can you forget how your loved one leave you like a sack of potatoes? No, she couldn't-she WOULDN'T forget about them. It's her lesson in life, a lesson that she learned the hard way. And now, she has to go back to that old life. Does she have a choice? Yes. Yes she does. She could just quit this job and get another one. But she liked her job, the friends she made here, the respect they gave her, something that rarely ever, if not never, happened in her old life. No, she won't quit this job. But does she have the courage to go back? Back into a world that doesn't welcome her? "Rena, are you okay?" Serena snapped back to reality with a blink. Sharon. Yes, Sharon would know what to do. "I have to go back," she whispered, almost inaudible. But Sharon heard, she heard it almost as if it were shouted out. "What...?" Sharon asked uncertainly. "Do you mean you have to go back to...there?" "Yes," Serena suddenly laughed bitterly. "Yes. And to think I was so excited by this 'important thing' of John's. It's just an announcement telling me that I'm going to be transferred over there. I'm such an idiot." "No, you're not," Sharon suddenly said, her voice seemed odd, almost as if she's trying to imitate someone else. "Serena, listen to me. All things happens for a reason. You left your old life, it must have happened because it will led to other things in the future. Now it's the time for you to go back and fulfill what had been started." Serena stared at the woman in front of her in shocked silence. Sharon never called her Serena before. The reason? Serena never told her her real name. So how did she know? "Remember this, if nothing else, Serena," Sharon continued in that strange voice. For some odd reason, it comforted her. "All things happens for a reason. Never forget that, Serena, my daughter, never forget that..." And then, suddenly, Sharon collapsed. Serena stifled the gasp and knelt down quickly to help the older woman. "Woaw, what happened?" Sharon asked. That strange voice was gone and she seemed to be normal now. "First I was standing in front of you, asking if you're alright, and the next thing I know, I'm lying on the floor. I hope I'm not going to become a vacuum." "You-you don't remember what just happened?" Serena asked in a shocked little voice. "Nope, uh-uh, not a clue," Sharon said, getting up slowly. "But I do know I got this gigantic headache." "But you just..." "Uh? What did you just say, Rena? I didn't quite catch you there," Sharon said, one hand to her head. Serena suddenly smiled and shook her head. "Nothing. Come on, let's get you home." ~~~~~~~ To be continued... ~~~~~~~ Well? What do you think? Sort of weird, wouldn't you think?
