Chapter Four: Pump it Up

Vegeta and Goku were flying side by side towards Capsule Corp HQ when Goku suddenly placed two fingers on his head and abruptly teleported out of sight. Vegeta, however, did not notice the disappearance of Goku at once since he was so focused and concentrated on getting to the Virtual Field in Capsule Corp HQ. After a few minutes of continuous flying, Vegeta perceived Capsule Corp in the distance. When he reached the entrance of the HQ he didn’t stop flying but gave a slight push with his ki that opened the doors and continued to fly on. Only this time, he flew down the corridors towards the Virtual Field. As he flew, he passed by Bulma in the hallways. Bulma was analyzing some important charts of information on her clipboard. As Vegeta flew past, the force of the speed from his flying caused Bulma to look up from her charts as the charts scattered all over the hallway.

"Huh!" shouted Bulma in annoyance. "Got lost my ass."

Vegeta, however, luckily did not hear the statement that Bulma had made and passed many similar employees on the way. On the last corridor before the Virtual Field, there was a young blue hair-colored female employee named Meiko. Meiko was wearing a short skirt and was being flirted with by a co-worker. As Vegeta flew by, his wind speed caused the Meiko’s skirt to fly up. The co-worker took this to his advantage and cocked his head sideways to get a better view.

"Hey Meiko," commented the co-worker. "It appears to me that you have some really, really fine legs. Oh, and by the way, nice choice of underwear."

Meiko immediately attempted to hold her skirt down but the sides of the skirt still flew up due to the sharp breeze. As the wind died down, Meiko stalked up to the co-worker and slapped him across the face.

"Pervert," insulted Meiko.

Meiko then stalked away in frustration and anger around the corner.

"Call me!" cried out the still hopeful co-worker.

Vegeta sniggered as he passed by but his humor quickly died as he sped into the main Virtual Field room. To his surprise, Goku was sitting sideways on a holographic projector and was eating an apple. Vegeta hadn’t even noticed that Goku had gone.

"Vegeta, Vegeta," playfully scolded Goku as he turned to face Vegeta. "I thought you would get here five minutes ago. You know, you’re getting slower and slower these days."

Goku turned sideways once again took another big bite out of his apple.

"You cheated Kakarot! How the hell else would you have gotten here so quickly!" screamed Vegeta.

"So," casually replied Goku. "what’s cheating to a non-official Saiya-jin king?"
"Arghhh! Renzoku Energy Dan!" cried out Vegeta as he released a full volley of high-powered ki blasts.

Goku still sat in the same position and effortlessly deflected any ki blasts that came his way with one hand while eating the apple with the other.

This made Vegeta even angrier and he fired yet another volley of attacks.

"Chobakuretsumaha!" screamed out Vegeta.

A rather large ki blast beam came shooting out of Vegeta’s hands and headed straight towards Goku. As the Chobakuretsumaha beam continued on its path in the direction of Goku, he kept on eating his apple. He almost seemed oblivious to the fact that a life threatening attack was heading towards him. As the blast moved closer and closer, Goku still seemed to not take notice of the beam. Then, when the blast was only inches away from Goku, he swiped the Chobakuretsumaha in such a way that the beam was knocked away from his body and into the wall instead.

BOOM! The blast hit the wall and made a tremendous explosion into the room that caused Vegeta to be thrown from the air, into the wall and then to the floor. Smoke scattered everywhere as the colossal boom of the blast echoed in the sturdy room. As the smoke disappeared, Vegeta flew up from his pinned position on the ground and looked around hoping to catch a glimpse of Goku. Ironically, Vegeta found Goku still sitting on the holographic projector.

"Arghhh!" cried out Vegeta, even more agitated. "How about another blast then! Double Kikou Ha!"

Vegeta held out both of his hands and double large ki energy blasts fired from his palms. Goku, as before, ignored the oncoming blasts and prepared to block both blasts with just one arm. As the blasts came closer and closer, Goku stiffened just a bit since he had felt extraordinary power behind these blasts since Vegeta and himself never normally really used such powerful ki attacks while sparring. But, he still thought nothing of it.

"Vegeta, I don’t know why you even try," ridiculed Goku. "You fully well know that I can easily block these pitiful attacks. Huh! What the…"

Suddenly, as the blasts homed in on Goku’s figure, one blast veered off from its orbit and actually flew past Goku and hit Goku’s apple instead. The other blast however continued on it’s course but Goku blocked it anyway. The apple nonetheless was knocked from Goku’s grasp and detonated farther away from Goku’s body. Vegeta, not meaning the veering blast abruptly stopped powering up for his next attack.

"Uh-oh," commented Vegeta.

Goku slowly turned himself so that he faced Vegeta and hovered ever so slowly up into the air.

"You hit my apple," whispered Goku in disbelief. "You hit my apple."

"Uh, Kakarot old pal, ha, it’s just a misunderstanding," nervously replied Vegeta. "Yeah, that’s right, just a misunderstanding."

"Oh I understand perfectly Vegeta," retorted Goku, as his voice grew stronger. "I understand that you purposely fired a ki blast and hit my apple. You destroyed it as well!"

"Uh, I’m sure that we could talk something out. Can’t we?" nervously asked Vegeta.

"I don’t think so Vegeta," answered Goku. "I don’t think that we can work this out."

Goku jerked his hand towards the spot where his apple exploded almost as to show Vegeta what he had done.

"And now," continued Goku. "You’re going to have to pay."

Goku maintained the standing position that he was in while floating in the air but he gathered energy all around himself, somewhat using it as a shield. Vegeta, seeing this nervously fired a few weak ki shots at Goku but the shots merely glanced off his cloak of energy. Vegeta, seeing his shots deflected, hovered backwards into the side of a wall in his somewhat nervous and desperate escape.

Goku, without warning, readied himself in an attack formation and said, "Oh, by the way, here’s an attack that I learned from you Vegeta. Galic-Gun!"

A huge blast hurled itself from Goku’s open palms and fired itself directly at Vegeta. It was going so quick that even Vegeta didn’t even have time to blink his eye before the blast reached him and detonated.

BOOM! The assault detonated with such force that the entire titanium alloyed room shook with tremendous pressure. Even the exits from the room shook from the detonation pressure. As the dust and smoke cleared from the attack, Vegeta was ironically held in a Vegeta shaped impression high above the ground in the wall of the Virtual Field. Slowly, Vegeta tumbled out of his body-shaped impression and fell to the ground as a charred figure. Vegeta raised one hand as if to say something but the previous assault received the better of him and he abruptly fell into unconsciousness on the floor. Goku, however, hadn’t received any harm and was still hovering in the air.

"Ow," commented Goku as he saw Vegeta’s condition. "I don’t care what planet he’s from, that’s got to hurt."

Goku then reached into his pocket and pulled out another shiny red apple that was almost identical to the one that was destroyed. Goku immediately started to chomp on the apple with such vigor that the apple was nothing but seeds and a stem in a matter of seconds.

"Rumble, rumble."

Goku’s stomach growled in hunger.

"Hmmm," thought Goku. "I guess the apple didn’t fill me up after all. I better go home to see what Chi-Chi is cooking."

Goku commenced to fly towards the door in a descending path and he absent-mindedly threw the remains of the apple over his shoulder. Ironically, the remains hit Vegeta in his stomach and settled there in his charred frame. When Goku touched the ground, he placed two fingers on his forehead, locked on to Chi-Chi’s power level and teleported there. Vegeta still remained motionless and unconscious on the floor.

When Piccolo had launched himself at Gohan and flew towards him at an incredible speed, Gohan soon found himself practically flying for his own dear life. All surroundings were just a blur to Gohan as he flew rapidly towards Piccolo’s mountains. Soon, Gohan’s surroundings became more and more solidified as he decreased his flying speed to search for a clearing to land and rest in. Soon, he spotted a clearing near a fast moving rapid and touched down almost immediately upon sighting.

"Ahhh, much better," sighed Gohan as he came down near some bushes.

Gohan placed his hands on his waist and surveyed the scene. The clearing wasn’t large, only about one-fourth of a mile in diameter at the most.

"Hmmm, I wonder where Piccolo is," mused Gohan. "He was just right behind me the last time that I looked."

Suddenly, a green-colored arm reached out of the bushes, grabbed Gohan by the waist, and pulled him into the tangle of bushes.

"Hey!" shouted Gohan. "You’re not Piccolo!"

A series of thumping sound followed Gohan’s protest. The thumping sounds were of many punches and kicks. All at once, a very battered looking Gohan was roughly thrown out of the bushes and onto the hard dirt ground and a Namek-jinian looking almost exactly like Piccolo soon stepped out of the bushes and revealed himself in the sunlight. It was Nail.

"I know I’m not Piccolo," commented Nail.

"Hey Gohan!" shouted a voice in the sky. "Looking for me? Well then, Exploding Demon Cannon!"

That voice was of Piccolo’s. Abruptly, as he screamed out the attack, Piccolo spread out both of his arms, clapped them together, made a gun symbol with both hands, and pointed the "gun" at the spot directly below Gohan.

"You know," murmured Gohan to no one in particular. " I just hate it when…"

BOOM! The ground underneath Gohan suddenly exploded with ki energy and dust swirled everywhere like a mad dust storm.

"Ahhh," commented Piccolo. "Nothing like a good blast to warm up the muscles."

Nail, while the dust was swirling about, jumped off the ground and floated upwards to the spot where Piccolo was hovering.

"I agree Piccolo," commented Nail. "Although it is good to have a good stretch before you do fire a ki blast."

"Yeah, well," mumbled Piccolo. "Hmmm, where’d the little squirt go?"

"Over here Piccolo!" roared Gohan from the center of the dust cloud. "Masenko Canon!"

A large purple-colored beam of ki energy flew out of the dust cloud and hit Piccolo directly in the chest. Piccolo was thrown back from the immense force.

"This one’s for you Nail!" continued Gohan. "Kamehameha!"

A Kamehameha blast burst from the clearing dust and also hit Nail in the chest, which quickly sent him catching up with Piccolo’s flying body. Then, the dust from the blast cleared and Gohan was seen in the center of a giant crater.

"You know," muttered Piccolo weakly. "I think that we should fuse once again since I need all the energy I can use right about now."

"Yeah, sure thing," agreed Nail wholeheartedly.

"Huh, I can’t believe that we’re getting beat up by a just little kid," commented Piccolo. "But it’s sort of no surprise since I taught him how to fight myself."

"Yeah, I know," replied Nail.

"I heard that!" shouted Gohan.

"So that’s why Saiya-jins have big ears," exclaimed Nail.

"I heard that too!" shouted Gohan again.

"Huh! Hey, Nail. Did you realize that with every passing second, not to mention while we talk, we’re falling closer and closer to the ground?" asked Piccolo.

"Oh, right," responded Nail.

"Anyway, let’s just get this over with," continued Piccolo. "Ready?"

"Ready," acknowledged Nail.

"Fusion Technique!" cried out both Namek-jins simultaneously.

White light instantly burst from both of the Namek-jins and filled the clearing entirely. When the light faded, Piccolo was the only figure falling towards the ground. As Piccolo neared the ground of the clearing, he flipped over so that he would gently land on his legs, out of harm’s way. But, as Piccolo landed, he released a high intensity blast that headed straight for Gohan.

"Tsuibi Kikou Ha!" yelled Piccolo as he released the blast.

The blast came closer but Gohan, like his father before, practically ignored the oncoming assault. Then, when the blast was on the complete verge of hitting Gohan, he stepped to the side and the blast barely missed him.

"Great attack Piccolo!" taunted Gohan. "Too bad it missed!"

Then, unknown to Gohan, the blast actually turned around and started aim for Gohan’s back. Piccolo just grinned when he saw the blast make a 180-degree turnaround.

"Hey, why do you have a smirk on your face?" inquired Gohan.

"Well," replied Piccolo as he pointed to the unknown blast. "It’s because of that."

"Huh?" asked a bewildered Gohan.

But it was too late for Gohan to dodge the blast as it slammed into his back and shot him straight towards Piccolo. Piccolo grinned even more as he cocked back his fist in preparation for the rapidly approaching figure of Gohan.

"Oh no!" protested Gohan but upon hearing this, Piccolo’s grin grew only even broader.

BAM! Piccolo’s fist smashed into Gohan and sent Gohan spinning wildly towards the sky. Piccolo, after making Gohan airborne, dematerialized into the right behind Gohan in the air. Unexpectedly, Gohan’s foot lashed out behind him with a vicious kick and the kick connected with Piccolo’s jaw. In return to the kick, Piccolo punched Gohan directly in the stomach. Then, the two Z Fighters disappeared as they both fought each other so fast that the naked eye couldn’t see what was happening. Suddenly, Piccolo and Gohan appeared sparring near a mountainside. But then, another Piccolo and Gohan appeared fighting near the rapids and yet another set Gohan and Piccolo’s forms appeared far above the ground, in the air. All three sets were part of the Ni Jyuu Zanzouken attack that both Piccolo and Gohan had used. The real Gohan and Piccolo were up in the sky bracing against each other. Gradually, the other sets of after images faded away and only the real figures were left fighting. Then, without warning, Piccolo raised both of his fists together and slammed Gohan so hard in the back that Gohan was practically thrown down at the ground. Then, immediately following the attack, Piccolo dematerialized and materialized at the spot where Gohan would land. As Gohan came closer, Piccolo braced his legs to get a good fighting stance.

"Fore!" shouted Piccolo as he uppercut Gohan in the stomach. Gohan was cast off again into the sky. Then, as Gohan rapidly descended once again towards the ground, he fell into a giant clear blue lake.

SPLASH! Gohan hit the water surface with a tremendous splash that stirred the water all around.

"Hmm," observed Piccolo. "Hole in one. Not bad."

Suddenly, Gohan came bursting out of the water looking like he was running vertically. All of a sudden, a huge tentacle reached up out of the lake and grabbed Gohan by the waist.

"Ahhh!" cried out Gohan as he was pulled under the lake’s surface.

Soon, his cries became bubbly and unrecognizable. The water in which the giant tentacle had pulled the wildly thrashing Gohan under was swirling around madly because of Gohan’s struggle. Suddenly, a very bubbly sounding Kamehameha echoed throughout the water. Then, bright light filled the lake and water everywhere was hurled upwards. Piccolo watched all this with a smirk because he had caused so much suffering on his pupil’s behalf. Piccolo walked over to the lake’s shore, stuck his index finger into the water, and tasted his finger.

"Hmmm," commented Piccolo. "Octopus soup. Not bad."

Without warning, a very wet and exhausted Gohan came bursting out of the lake.

"Yes!" cried Gohan, as he was free from the lake. "No!"

The reason why Gohan had shouted "No!" was because Piccolo had raised one hand, while examining the water, and aimed the hand towards Gohan. A rather large ki blast flung itself out of Piccolo’s palm and hurled itself directly at Gohan.

BANG! The blast caught Gohan directly in the chest and blew him far, far away; past the mountain range and over the forest.

"Oh well," muttered Piccolo without looking up. "He’ll be back. Sooner or later. Hmmm, nice soup. Could use a bit of salt though."

*****

Trunks and Goten were drawing closer and closer to the woods as they both raced speedily to see which one would get there first. As the sight of the woods came closer and closer, Trunks put on a burst of extra speed. Soon, he was in the lead and overtook Goten. Trunks smirked as he passed Goten.

As he passed, Trunks looked back and taunted, "Can’t catch me now Goten-san."

"Trunks!" cried out Goten urgently as he stopped abruptly. "Watch out for that mountainside!"

"Ha! You can’t fool me!" shouted Trunks. "I’m not falling for your…"

Unfortunately for Trunks, Goten was correct about the mountainside. Trunks didn’t even have time to finish his sentence as he crashed head-on into the mountain.

"Ow," observed Goten. "That’s got to hurt."

Trunks fell slowly from the mountainside and dropped like a rock to the ground.

BOOM! Trunks crashed onto the ground with a loud smash. Dust swirled around Trunk’s body and settled on Trunks himself or around him. Trunks stirred once but slumped back down into unconsciousness.

"Trunks?" called Goten. "Are you okay?"

Goten slowly descended downwards to the ground and landed softly on his feet.

"Hello?" called Goten. "Trunks?"

Trunks still remained unconscious.

"Trunks!" shouted Goten. "Please wake up."

Goten walked ever so slowly towards Trunks’ limp body and nudged it once with his foot. Trunks still remained inanimate. Goten backed away and raised one hand, palm up. A small ki beam shot out of Goten’s palm and hit Trunks in the side. There was no response from Trunks. Goten shot another ki beam that hit Trunks in the arm. Trunks moved from the impact of the shot but he still did not stir from coma.

"Trunks," called Goten nervously and desperately. "Please, please wake up. Trunks? Forgive for this but, Kamekameha!"

Goten charged up a blast in his cupped hands and released a huge Kamekameha blast that streaked onwards towards Trunks’ senseless body.

"Nghhh," mumbled Trunks drowsily as he pushed himself up. "Where am I?"

Trunks drowsily rubbed his eyes with his gloves and blinked two times at the sudden light that filled the area. Then, Trunks happened to look up and see the enormous Kamekameha blast streaking towards his beaten body.

"Great," commented Trunks sarcastically. "Why is that every time I wake up, I see a huge blast heading my way to kill me?"

BOOM! The Kamekameha blast caught Trunks directly in the center of his chest and heaved him flying towards the mountainside behind him.

BANG! Trunks crashed into the mountainside with enough force to collapse a building.

At that moment, a Trunks shaped tunnel was formed in the side of the mountain as Trunks was pressed closer and closer towards the center of the mountain. The tunnel strangely looked like something found on a Warner Brothers cartoon. Suddenly, the mountain collapsed on Trunks and a colossal amount of debris was scattered in the air.

"Trunks?" called Goten curiously.

BAM! The mountain blew up into cinders as Trunks preformed an Energy Dan attack from inside the mountain itself. Wind blew fiercely as the mountain exploded into shards and piles and heaps of stone came flying in all directions at once. Goten had to dodge quickly in order to escape being caught by one of the shards of stone. But even as strong as Goten was, he still was blown back a few paces because of the fierce wind. Trees were pounded with rock and the sky was literally dark from the tremendous amount of dust and dirt in the air. And in the center of it all was Trunks heaving from exhaustion of performing the Energy Dan attack. As soon as the wind died down and most of the dust settled, Goten floated out of a dust cloud, choked a bit, and looked at Trunks.

"Trunks!" exclaimed Goten in joy. "You’re alive!"

"Whatever," grumbled Trunks. "No thanks to you."

Goten, however didn’t hear Trunks complaint or didn’t choose to hear it. Goten immediately rushed to Trunks’ side and practically leaped with excitement as if to show how much he wanted to spar.

"Trunks-san," shouted Goten. "Let’s go spar! Ok?"

In response, Trunks hurled a Koukyuu Gata Kikou Ha blast at Goten.

"Ahhh!" exclaimed Goten as he narrowly dodged the ki attack. "Alright then! Let’s spar!"

As Goten shouted out the last two words, Trunks fired a Yubisaki kara no Kikou Ha ki blast from his fingertips and the blast hit Goten on the chest, knocking him to the ground.

"Ow," cried Goten. "Whoa!"

Goten rolled over to the side as another ki blast hit the spot where he had just been resting before.

"Alright!" protested Goten. "That’s it! That’s the final straw! It’s my turn to attack! Renzoku Shine Shine Missile!

Goten launched himself into the air and threw many ki blasts aimed directly at Trunks. Trunks, seeing these blasts head for him, pulled out his Z sword and commenced to deflect any blast that got a bit too near to him.

Goten, seeing Trunks deflect all of his ki Missiles, grew only even more agitated than before.

"Arghhh! Kochi kara Kikou Ha!" screamed Goten.

A huge breath beam propelled itself from Goten’s mouth and flew straight at Trunks.

"Oh no!" protested Trunks.

Then, when the beam was just a foot away from Trunks, Trunks screamed out, "Ikoukan o Hatsusei Burning Attack!"

As Trunks cried out his attack, he pulled out his Z sword again from his sheath and the sword instantly glowed black and purple around the edges. Then as the attack was on the verge of hitting Trunks, he held his sword in front of him, as if to block the breath beam. Surprisingly, the Z sword absorbed the breath beam and glowed stronger with the absorption.

"Heh, heh," chuckled Trunks. "Now it’s my turn to attack. Kuukanteni Earth Cutting Row!"

Trunks swung the Z sword in the direction of Goten and a massive wave of blue and black ki energy shot out towards Goten.

"You know, this just isn’t one of my days," remarked Goten, as the energy wave was only a few inches from his body.

BOOM! The wave hit Goten with the force of a large bomb and it hurled Goten up towards the sky. Trunks shielded his eyes as he looked up at Goten’s flying figure and laughed softly.

"Ha!" chuckled Trunks. "I bet he’ll feel that in the morning. Hmmm, I wonder. Where will he land?"

Suddenly, a shadow blocked Trunks view of the sky.

"Huh?" questioned a puzzled Trunks.

The shadow grew larger and larger until finally, Trunks realized that the shadow was actually Goten falling straight at him. Quickly, Trunks leaped to his left as Goten’s charred body hit the spot where Trunks had just been standing.

"Nghhh," murmured Goten painfully.

"Ha!" exclaimed Trunks. "Another challenger of Trunks’ great strength bites the dust. So how do you feel Goten? Now that you have a taste of Trunks’ awesome power."

"Oh shut up," mumbled Goten weakly.

"Huh? What did you say?" inquired Trunks as he leaned closer to Goten’s half-dead body.

"I said that you could use a bath," replied Goten weakly.

"Really?" exclaimed Trunks. "I seriously doubt if I’m going anywhere near the water soon."

"I doubt that," responded Goten.

"Why?" questioned a cocky Trunks.

"Because of this; Kamekameha!" shouted Goten.

A huge cylindrical ki blast shot out from Goten’s cupped hands and directed itself at Trunks’ body.

"Oh; I see," said Trunks as the blast hit him full on.

Trunks was hurtled up into the sky as the Kamekameha blast continued to push his body upwards.

"You see," commented Trunks weakly from his position at the front of the Kamehameha blast. "Everybody wants a piece of Trunks."

And with that comment, the Kamekameha blast arced downwards towards a large stream.

SPLASH! Water rained everywhere as Trunks was violently thrown deep into the water with the Kamekameha blast still pushing on his strength-derived body.

"Haha!" crowed Goten triumphantly. "Not so high and mighty now are you Trunks? Trunks? Hmmm, that’s strange, usually by now he’d be kicking me in the back and beating the living kuso out of me. I better go check on him, just in case."

Goten slowly approached the slow moving stream with caution as he expected to see Trunks bursting out of nowhere to attack him. Slowly, Goten bent down on his knees and then his stomach as he carefully crawled towards the stream itself. When Goten crawled all the way to the river’s edge, he tentatively looked out over the surface of the river and then looked down into the water. What he saw gave him a complete shock. Goten saw Trunks face looking back at him from under the water. Normally, Goten would’ve jumped one mile straight into the air but the sight of Trunks had completely stunned him. Suddenly, acting on a wild impulse, Goten waved at Trunks who was still under water. Trunks did the same to Goten; almost like a reflection. Then, Goten nodded his head. Trunks did the same, just like a mirror. After that, Goten powered up a small amount of ki energy in his palm. Trunks did the same. Goten released the ki energy into the air. Trunks did not. Instead, Trunks began to form a Kamehameha under water.

"Kuso," cursed Goten as he hit himself on head. "Every single time! You know, this is getting annoying."

And with that, Trunks hurled the Kamehameha blast at Goten, which blew directly over his face. When the blast cleared, Goten was still in the same kneeling position over the river except for the fact that his face, neck and shoulders were charred to blackness.

"Ha!" triumphantly cheered Trunks underwater. "I’ve got you now! Dragon Punch!"

Ironically, when Trunks flew upward through the water with an uppercut aimed at Goten; Goten fell backwards onto the riverbank in a collapsed heap. This caused Goten to be out of range and as Trunks burst out of the water, still holding the Dragon Punch uppercut position, his momentum carried him up to the clouds. Suddenly, a loud squawking sound came from the sky around the same cloud area Trunks had flew into.

"Oh kuso!" cursed Trunks from the clouds. "Why do there have to be dinosaurs trying to kill me now?"

"Nghhh," murmured Goten groggily as he slowly cracked open his eyes. "Ahhh!"

Goten had finally gotten become conscious again and immediately wished he hadn’t. A rather large pterodactyl came crashed down towards him beak first. Goten immediately rolled to his left. Half of a split-second later, a very sharp pterodactyl beak buried itself into the ground right where Goten’s head had been.

"Whew," commented Goten as he wiped his forehead in relief. "that was a close call."

When Goten opened his eyes again, he saw another pterodactyl hurtling down at him. Goten instantaneously rolled to his right and another pterodactyl beak buried in the ground where his head had just been. Goten’s head was now positioned between two pterodactyl beaks. Goten instantly jumped up on his feet in panic. Just then, a very battle worn Trunks came descending slowly from the clouds as he dusted his clothes off.

"Ah, there you are Goten," remarked Trunks as he landed on the ground. "I wanted to ask you a small, tiny question."

"Well then," replied Goten. "what’s the question?"

"WHY DID YOU HAVE TO MOVE WHEN I WAS DOING MY DRAGON PUNCH ATTACK!" exclaimed Trunks. "You just caused me to get in a very large and very unpleasant battle with a whole family of pterodactyls!"

Goten began to chuckle wildly at his success of making Trunks very agitated.

"You think that’s funny?" shouted Trunks. "Well how about this! Chobakuretsumaha!"

A cylindrical shaped ki blast came shooting out of Trunks’ open palms and caught Goten full on his stomach. The blast sent Goten flying in the general direction of his home.

"Oh well," commented Trunks to himself. "We’ll spar again tomorrow. Oops, look at the time," remarked Trunks as he checked his digital chronometer. "I gotta get home too."

And as he finished his statement, Trunks created a white glowing aura of power around his body and blasted off flying towards Capsule Corp.

*****

Tien, Yamcha, Krillin, and Chaozu were flying swiftly towards Yamcha’s Plateau in that order. As all four of them neared Yamcha’s Plateau, they each slowed down and descended. The four Z Fighters landed in a wide plain with a couple of trees dotting the area. Scattered in the far-off distance were rocky mountains.

"First!" declared Tien as he touched down.

"Second!" called Yamcha.

"Aw, man," mumbled Krillin resentfully. "Why do I have to be third and fight with that weakling prince Chaozu. He doesn’t even know five good attacks. Well, at least I can get this over quickly."

"Fourth!" cried Chaozu. "Ha! I get to fight Krillin! Ready to get beaten by me Krillin?"

Krillin looked down on the midget prince Chaozu.

"I severely doubt if he beats me," thought Krillin. "All right Choazu," commented Krillin out loud. "get ready to spar."

Yamcha and Tien backed off near the trees and watched with interest as Krillin and Chaozu started warming up for their sparring match.

"I bet fifty capsule credits on Krillin for this match," challenged Yamcha.

"All right I’ll take your bet," responded Tien.

Yamcha and Tien shook hands in agreement.

After five minutes of warming up, Krillin called to Chaozu, "Are you ready to spar Chaozu?"

"As ready as I’ll ever be," replied Chaozu.

"Okay, to start off the tag team sparring we’ll each take ten steps in the opposite direction and then we start the fight. Is that okay with you?"

"Yeah, sure."

"Okay, take ten steps starting now."

As Chaozu toke his ten steps forward, he counted out loud. "One-two-three-four-five-six-seven-eight-nine-ten! Now where are you Krillin?"

Chaozu spun around hoping to catch a glimpse of Krillin when a Kamehameha blast caught him unexpectedly. Chaozu spun head over heels as he flew backwards from the blast impact. While tumbling backward in the air, Chaozu stuck his foot out to hit the ground and stopped his somersaults. However, the impact still drove him backwards which left a trench in the ground where his foot had slid. When Chaozu stopped sliding backwards, he looked around for an incoming Krillin. Krillin materialized right in front of Chaozu and kicked him straight in the face. Chaozu somersaulted back again and he preformed the same move he did to stop his tumbling. This time, when he stopped, he leaped forwards right at Krillin. Krillin, expecting this, dematerialized and then materialized just behind Chaozu. Krillin then kicked Chaozu in the back sending Chaozu crashing into the dirt. Chaozu immediately leaped to his feet.

"All right, that’s it! It’s my turn to attack!" cried Chaozu. "Kanashibari no Jyutsu!"

Chaozu stood in a fighting stance and fell into deep concentration. Krillin looked back at Yamcha and Tien. Tien and Yamcha just shrugged, not knowing what Chaozu was doing. Krillin turned back to Chaozu and sighed. Whatever the attack Chaozu was concentrating on, it obviously wasn’t working. Krillin slowly walked over to Chaozu and tapped him on the shoulder. Chaozu was roused from his deep concentration and looked up. Krillin smiled almost sinisterly and delivered a vicious uppercut, which propelled Chaozu high up in the air. After a few moments, Chaozu came falling down back to Earth and hit the dust with a loud thud. Krillin, still bored with fighting Chaozu, exasperatingly leaped up in the air and hovered for a moment a couple of meters above Chaozu’s recovering form.

"Well, here it goes," muttered Krillin. "Kakusan Kikou Ha!"

Krillin held out one hand and supported it with the other when a very large ki energy ball began to gather right in front of Krillin’s palm.

When the energy ball grew to two feet in diameter, Krillin shouted out, "Ha!"

And with that, Krillin released the giant ki ball. The ball slowly descended on Choazu as he got up on all fours. Suddenly, when the ki ball was halfway the distance from Krillin to Chaozu, it burst in many smaller ki balls. The glowing energy balls hovered there for a minute before dropping like stones to the unsuspecting Chaozu.

"Chaozu! Look up!" warned Tien.

"Huh?" asked Chaozu as he used Tien’s warning.

But it was too late. An instant after Chaozu looked up, all of the energy balls came dropping down on Chaozu’s back and pounded him constantly into the Earth with explosions until all of the energy attacks had released it’s power. A large dome of light and smoke surrounded the land on and around Chaozu’s body. When the light and thick haze cleared, a deep crater appeared with Chaozu lying in the center. Krillin floated slowly downwards next to Chaozu’s body and surveyed the damage he had caused. When Krillin landed, he grabbed a fist-full of Chaozu’s shirt and lifted him up to his face. Krillin look one glance at him and then flung him towards where Tien and Yamcha were resting. Chaozu, still unconscious, came crash landing down with a satisfying thud.

Krillin grinned. Yamcha was busying collecting money from Tien. From Krillin’s view, it seemed like Tien was positively boiling over with rage.

"Next!" shouted Krillin to Tien.

"Wait a sec!" grumpily called back Tien as he finished dumping the last of the fifty capsule credits into Yamcha’s open hand.

"Good luck," called Yamcha as he happily counted his money. "Hope you don’t get beaten too badly!"

"Shut up!" bellowed Tien to Yamcha as he walked towards Krillin.

Yamcha only grinned even more sheepishly.

"Okay," remarked Krillin as Tien came to a stop beside him. "Same rules as the match before. You got that?"

"Yeah," replied Tien gruffly.

"Okay, start counting."

Krillin then abruptly turned about-face and walked his ten steps. When he finished, Krillin instantly rolled to his left without looking back and avoided a swift ki blast that Tien sent. Krillin got to his feet as soon as he touched solid ground and flipped backwards. As he somersaulted back, Krillin turned in midair so that when he landed, he faced Tien. As soon as Krillin landed, he sent some Kikou Ha blasts straight at Tien. Tien, being a good fighter, easily dodged these attacks. Krillin already anticipated this and fired Double Kikou Ha blasts to hit Tien when he dodged. Krillin aimed one blast to each side of Tien and fired away. Tien, a bit disoriented from dodging the Kikou Ha blasts, didn’t see the new oncoming blasts and he soon lay sprawled on the ground because of his unawareness. Tien groaned as he slowly recovered his senses.

"Why does Krillin have to be so damn fast," thought Tien as his mind revolved around and around.

Then, quick as a flash, Tien was up on his feet and ready for battle once more despite his small wooziness. This surprised Krillin since he didn’t expect Tien to recover so quickly but he brushed the shock away. Krillin stood prepared for an attack. All of a sudden, Tien leaped into the air, hovered for a second, and fell downward with a flying kick aimed at Krillin. Then, unexpectedly, Tien dematerialized from Krillin’s view and materialized behind him! Krillin spun around hoping to be able to block Tien’s kick.

WHAM! Tien’s foot collided with Krillin’s arm as Tien delivered kick after kick after kick while hanging in midair. As Krillin began to stumble backwards, Tien increased the force of his attack even more. Without warning, Tien kicked below Krillin’s blocking range and caught him in the stomach. The air rushed out of Krillin as he flew backwards towards the trees where Yamcha was standing with Chaozu at his feet.

Thud. Krillin landed on both of his feet and wobbled slightly. Krillin’s face broke out in a grin.

"I’ve had enough fighting for now," Krillin announced. "I think I’ll prefer to watch instead."

And with that, Krillin reached out behind him without looking and held out an open hand. Yamcha tagged it and stepped forward out of the tree’s shade. Yamcha cracked his knuckles and his neck almost threateningly.

"Thanks Krillin," acknowledged Yamcha. "I thought you’d never ask. I was getting to be bored back there. Well then Tien, ready?"

Krillin slid into the tree’s shade.

"Of course," answered Tien as he lowered himself onto the ground and positioned himself in a fighting stance. "Let’s go at it right now since we’re already far enough from each other already."

"As you wish," declared Yamcha as he readied himself for attack.

There was a brief moment of silence as both fighters waited for his opponent to attack. Then, as both saw their chance for attack, they both charged at each other, roaring with excitement. Tien and Yamcha met in the middle of the field.

BOOM! An explosion of power rocked the air as both fighters hit each other head-on. Yamcha kicked at Tien’s side but Tien matched him with a punch to the chest. Both jumped back and leapt into the open air.

BANG! Yamcha tried to knee Tien but Tien blocked the attack with an elbow that was intended for Yamcha’s head. Yamcha threw a savage punch at Tien but Tien leaped one foot higher in the air. Then, Tien held both of his hands together and pounded Yamcha on the back, which sent Yamcha plummeting down headfirst at an increasing speed.

All of a sudden, when Yamcha was only a few inches from the ground, he abruptly flipped over and stopped his fall. Hovering a few inches above the ground, Yamcha looked upward and sneered evilly at Tien.

"Uh-oh," commented Tien.

White light blazed across Yamcha’s body as he then powered up and launched himself at Tien. Tien didn’t even have enough time to react when Yamcha reached him.

A few feet away from Tien, Yamcha shouted, "Zanzouken!" and disappeared from sight.

Moments later, Yamcha appeared behind Tien. But then, another Yamcha appeared to the left of Tien, another to the right of Tien and another to the front!

"What the…" exclaimed Tien in bewilderment. "Alright, that’s it!" growled Tien. "I’m tired of you toying with me Yamcha! Now it’s time for you to feel my wrath! Twelve Eyes!"

As Tien shouted the last part of his attack, three copies of Tien split out of Tien and stood hovering beside him.

"Well then," commented all the Tien’s in unison. "I see that we are well matched in number. Aren’t we?"

The Yamcha’s didn’t move a muscle.

"Fine, don’t answer me!" snapped the Tien’s. "That’ll only make your downfall even faster. Prepare to be beaten!"

And with that final statement, all of the Tien’s rushed forward with their fists cocked back. As soon as the Tien’s reached the Yamcha’s, they landed a well-aimed punch at Yamcha’s chest. However, the punches never even touched Yamcha because the instant that the Tien’s touched the Yamcha’s, the Yamcha’s promptly fizzed and disappeared.

"Oh Kuso!" cursed the Tien’s in bitter realization. "Those images of Yamcha were just after images of the Zanzouken technique. Kuso! I, err, we shouldn’t have been so careless!"

Without warning, the Tien’s felt a powerful surge of ki energy above them and looked up. The Tien’s saw the real Yamcha forming a powerful ki attack, the same one that Krillin used on Chaozu, the Kakusan Kikou Ha attack. Suddenly, the blurry ball of ki in Yamcha’s palm suddenly sharpened its edges forming it into the perfect glowing sphere of pure energy. Yamcha’s face broke into an evil grin as the formation of the attack was completed. Yamcha raised the ki ball into the air, where it hovered for a second, and spiked it downward towards the four Tien’s. The Tien’s hovered in shock as the ki attack neared them. Midway, the Kakusan Kikou Ha attack broke into four smaller balls and each ball hurled itself towards a Tien. The balls collided directly on the Tien’s chest and a tremendous explosion blew each of the Tien’s downwards as each of the smaller ki balls detonated. All four Tien’s hit the ground and formed a small crater under each Tien. Dust swirled around the unconscious Tien’s, forming somewhat of a dust screen over the four duplicate fighters. When the dust cleared, the Tien’s were still on the hard ground but were stirring ever so slightly. Within a moment, the Tien’s regained consciousness, stood up, and dusted themselves off a bit. When the Tien’s were finished with dusting themselves off, they looked up at Yamcha and scowled.

Yamcha just smirked back at them. Still scowling, the Tien’s began to glow yellow with energy. The Tien’s also began to hover in circular motion and soon formed a single, large, bauble of light that covered all of the Tien’s. Then, slowly, the bauble dimmed and soon faded, leaving only the fading glow of the sunset. Standing in the center of the fading bauble of light was the original Tien, with all of the other copies part of him once again. Tien, still scowling at Yamcha, was covered with dust and bruises all over.

Tien resentfully wiped off the tiny trail of blood on the corner of his mouth and spat on the ground.

"Not bad Yamcha," commented Tien. "but you know, next time we spar, I won’t hold back."

Yamcha grinned.

"Yeah, well, not bad yourself," replied Yamcha.

"Hay guys," piped up Krillin. "Are you two going to stand around and grudgingly compliment each other all day or are we going to go over to my place and eat?"

"Good point," mentioned Tien. "Let’s go eat."

"Hey!" exclaimed Yamcha. "What about Choazu?"

Tien shrugged.

"Just leave him," answered Tien. "He’ll be fine."

"Alright," piped up Krillin. "Let’s fly."

The three Z Fighters slowly rose above the ground and when approximately ten feet above, they powered up with a tremendous blare and flew swiftly in the direction of Krillin’s house. Night fell quickly and only a tiny crumpled figure was seen on the vast flat field that was known as Yamcha’s Plateau.
