Chapter One: Tides of Invasion

"No! Please spare us! We have done nothing against you! No! Nooooo!"

Screams echoed throughout the air as shadowy figures darted from building to building, destroying them in a bright flash of light and power and leaving the buildings completely incinerated. In the midst of it all, one figure stood, his face unreadable and calm as he watched the buildings crumble and listened to the pleading screams of the innocent. At the figure’s feet were six golden spheres, each with a different number of red stars printed on them.

Suddenly, another figure darted to the one who was standing and spoke quickly from the result of adrenaline and excitement. "Commander, we have located the last Dragonball. Shou-lin is currently on his way here with it."

The second figure looked at his Commander’s face, searching for any sign of approval or any other emotion. However the Commander displayed no sign of any emotion.

"Well done Dankin," replied the Commander. "Your commitment to our cause is greatly appreciated. Hmmm, here comes Shou-lin now."

A dark figure dashed between the buildings with a Dragonball tucked in his arms. In a split second, he reached the Commander’s side. Immediately upon reaching the Commander, Shou-lin saluted him. The Commander gave only a slight nod to acknowledge his presence.

"Commander," addressed Shou-lin as he handed over the Dragonball. "I present you with the six star Dragonball."

"Very good," replied the Commander. "You have done well with your task. Now, you and Dankin will return to destroy the buildings with the others. I have some business to attend to. You two are dismissed."

"Yes Commander," responded Dankin and Shou-lin simultaneously.

And without a further word, Dankin and Shou-lin darted quickly to join the others. The Commander watched the pair leave before looking at the six star Dragonball in his hand for the first time. The Dragonball was rather small, as Dragonballs go, and it’s golden surface was flawless. The Commander sighed as he set the Dragonball down into the pile of the other Dragonballs. He didn’t like the fact that he had to keep the Namek-jin Dragonball creator on every planet he traveled to alive. He sighed again. His urge for destruction was great but his intelligence and sense of mind was greater.

"Ha!" laughed the Commander as he thought of the other leaders.

No wonder he was the one in charge of collecting the Dragonballs. The other leaders were so thickheaded and hasty that they never would’ve given another thought and just destroyed the planet; Dragonballs, Namek-jin and all, outright.

"Huh!" sneered the Commander through gritted teeth.

He was getting off focus. He must commence with the job at hand.

"Oh well," murmured the Commander. "might as well get the job done quick. This is getting rather tedious though. ARISE DRAGON!"

The clouds darkened and the thunder roared as the lightning hurtled down to the planet’s surface. The Dragonballs glowed orange with mysterious light, as the unnatural storm grew fiercer and fiercer. Suddenly, a large bolt of lightning streaked downwards, heading for the small pile of Dragonballs that laid at the Commander’s feet.

BOOM! The lightning connected with the Dragonballs with a loud crack. The Dragonballs instantly glowed pure white with power. The darkness in the sky was suddenly glowing lighter than before as result of the shining light that pierced the atmosphere. Unlike the other bolts of lightning that flashed around the area, the particularly large bolt of lightning that had struck the Dragonballs stayed connected with the small glowing orbs. The lightning bolt writhed and twisted as if alive. Suddenly, an earsplitting crack of thunder echoed through the sky. And with that, the already bright scene grew to pure white light that covered the area for miles around. Then, gradually, the light began to fade until it had faded completely. None of the white light remained and all that could now be seen of the unnatural phenomenon was jet-black storm clouds in the distance that still shot down pure energy bolts from the sky. But, from the lightning bolt that had struck the Dragonballs, there was a colossal green Chinese dragon. It’s long scaly frame covered the entire storm as it whipped it’s tail back and forth through the air without making a sound. Its blood red eyes glowed of power and it’s claws shone with deadliness. And then, the immense dragon spoke.

"Why have you summoned the great Lin-shu?" boomed the dragon.

"Why, isn’t it obvious?" inquired the Commander in an equally booming voice.

"Isn’t what obvious?" roared the dragon as his red eyes narrowed on the small figure.

"Why," sneered the Commander. "I would think that my intentions would be obvious with what me and my men are doing to your world."

"I have no concern for my environment," snapped the dragon loudly. "It has nothing to do with myself. Now what is your intention. Tell me. Now!"

A huge bolt of lightning and an earsplitting crash of thunder burst through the storm as the dragon shouted its last word. The Commander just stood his ground, completely unaffected, still sneering at the dragon.

"You wish to know my intention, dragon?" retorted the Commander evilly. "Very well. My intention is to completely obliterate you."

The dragon’s eyes widened quickly with shock as a thin, pure white energy bolt streaked out of the Commander’s open palm right after he had finished speaking. The dragon arched his long back in a death reflex as the energy lanced clear through its heart. The dragon began to collapse in death; falling at an ever-increasing speed. Its body started glowing yellow light at the outline and stone slowly covered up the golden Dragonballs. Halfway between the ground and where the dragon was floating before, the Commander raised his palm, fingers extended. And with that motion, the yellow light, the energy, that surrounded the dragon’s body started floating into the center of the Commander’s palm. The Dragonballs at the Commanders feet started dematerializing and turning into energy. The Dragonball’s energy also started flowing into the open palm. Gradually, all the energy from the Dragonballs and the dragon were collected. The dragon’s lifeless body crumpled onto the cold hard ground. The Dragonballs had disappeared into the unknown and the Commander still stood his ground, with an evil grin on his face. And, slowly at first, rain began to pelt down from the dark clouds above. The Commander reached towards his belt with his other hand and plucked out a tiny, pristine chest that was ornamentally decorated with a golden dragon. Still with that hand, he opened it carefully. The inside walls of the chest were covered in gold and little flashes of light were reflected in the chest as the lightning raged above. With the hand in which the collected energy rested, the Commander closed his hand in a crushing motion and opened it. The gathered energy was now in the shape of a tiny glowing star. Cautiously, the Commander placed the glowing energy star into the tiny chest and closed it with a snap that was barely heard above the thunderous crashing in the background.

"Well," said the Commander as he looked around him. "I guess we’re finished with this planet. Shin-li!"

A nearby dark figure stopped its destruction and rushed to the Commander’s side.

"Yes Commander," answered Shin-li.

"Take this to the ship and transmit it to headquarters," said the Commander as he handed over the ornate miniature chest. "The officers there will know what to do with it."

Shin-li accepted the tiny chest with the utmost care.

"Yes Commander," replied Shin-li.

"Now be careful with this chest or I shall have your life for it," threatened the Commander."

"Yes Commander," responded Shin-li as his throat moved noticeably.

And with that, Shin-li darted across the horizon towards the supposed ship. The Commander smirked as he watched Shin-li hurry.

"Now," said the Commander in a low voice. "Everything is set for the revival, that is, as soon as we arrive on Earth and acquire Shenlong’s gracious donation of energy."

The thunderbolts stormed above as the dark figures finished their path of destruction on the planet below.

A Capsule-Corp ship numbered 2031 hurtled through normal space on a path towards the new colony on the recently discovered planet Makanko. Suddenly a new ship dropped out of light-speed and followed approximately two light-miles behind.

"Captain!" cried the first mate of ship 2031, "We have a unidentified ship of Namekian design trailing close behind us. Should we fire at the ship?"

"No, not yet at least. Open a frequency and try to establish some sort of communication with the unknown ship," replied the captain.

The first mate then commenced to try and hail the unknown ship but his attempts were unsuccessful.

"Sir, the ship won’t respond to our hails. What now?"

"Attempt to activate the data scanner and hack into their mainframe and retrieve information about the ship."

"Yes sir."

The first mate then tried to activate the data scanner and use it but after a few moments the first mate recoiled in surprise and shock.

"What’s the problem?" asked the captain.

"The data scanner…. it won’t work. Instead of us scanning them, they are now commencing to scan us!"

"I hate to go to last resorts but fire at the ship. Just try not to destroy it. Do as little damage as needed to only disable them."

"Yes sir."

Just then, the Capsule Corp spacecraft rocked with impact from pulse torpedoes fired by the unknown ship.

"What was that!" roared the captain.

"Sir, it was two pulse torpedoes fired from the unknown ship. Fifty percent of our shield energy is gone, but all other systems appear to be in good order."

"Well then, return fire at will!"

The Capsule ship 2031 hummed with energy as it prepared to fire but suddenly the energy hum died.

"What happened?" asked the captain.

"The weapons… they’re offline! The unknown ship has disabled the weapons system!"

"Well get us out of here!"

"Sir, the engines are down as well. In fact, the entire mainframe is offline! Even the escape pods won’t function!"

"Oh no. We don’t need a tactical officer to tell us that we’re in serious trouble."

Aboard the unknown ship, shadowy figures stood around several consoles. One shadowy figure was sitting in a rather large chair and appeared to be the Commander of the unknown group.

"Sir, should we confiscate the Capsule Corp spacecraft?" asked a voice in the darkness of the ship.

"No," replied the Commander, "this spacecraft is irrelevant to us. Disable it with a pulse torpedo and destroy it with a 2896 proton space mine on my command."

"Yes, sir."

"On my mark, 3-2-1, fire!"

The unknown ship then powered up its pulse torpedoes and fired at the Capsule Corp ship. Then the unknown ship launched a small high-powered explosive device that immediately attached itself to the Capsule ship.

"Get us out of this miserable waste of space," ordered the Commander.

"Right away sir," replied the officer.

The unknown ship launched itself again into Z space and when the numbers on the explosive device counted down to zero, the Capsule Corp ship exploded and the crew inside was incinerated.

Dende, the guardian of Earth, was walking across Kami’s Lookout, when suddenly he fell to his knees with a look of great pain on his face.

"Dende!" shouted Mr. Popo. "What’s wrong?"

"I just felt a powerful feeling that something wrong has happened and that a great evil is heading closer and closer to Earth."

"Is it something that we should worry about?" asked Mr. Popo in confusion.

"No," replied Dende, "at least I hope not."

"Ha! Is that the best attack you can throw at me Kakarot!" taunted Vegeta.

"I’m just getting warmed up Vegeta!" retorted Goku.

Vegeta and Goku were sparring in the Virtual Reality Field at Capsule Corp headquarters. The Field that Goku and Vegeta were training on was simulating a battlefield on planet Vegeta during the time period that it had existed.

"Don’t make me laugh Kakarot. That’s just big talk. And the question about big talk is; can you prove it?" inquired Vegeta.

"I can prove my worth anytime and anywhere. Including right now and right here. And stop calling me Kakarot. You’ve been calling me that for the last seven years! It’s about time that you learned that my name is Goku."

"No, I won’t stop calling you Kakarot. That is, unless you just happen to beat me in this little spar."

"Ha! I’ve beaten you before and I can beat you again."

"You’ve just had plenty of luck on your side. But now your luck will run out. Sadly. So do you accept the deal?"

"Of course I accept the deal. Oh, by the way, KAMEHAMEHA!"

Goku charged a Kamehameha in the cup of his hands and released the energy blast straight at Vegeta. The blast narrowly missed Vegeta as he dodged with high speed.

"Ha! That attack wasn’t even close. Now see if you can dodge mine. Renzoku Energy Dan!"

Vegeta then released a volley of high-powered ki blasts through the palm of his hands, all aimed directly at Goku. Goku just stood there as the blasts came closer and closer with every microsecond.

"Ki Akeshi!" screamed out Goku.

The ki blasts abruptly stopped in midair and exploded harmlessly away from Goku.

"Good try Vegeta, but not good enough," said Goku almost tauntingly.

"Well, you’ve seen nothing yet. Try this for size. Bakuhatsu Ha…."

Vegeta’s concentration on the attack was broken when the simulation suddenly shut down.

Suddenly a voice came over the intercom, "Can Goku and Vegeta please report to room 203 in the main communications building. Thank you."

"Hmmm. I guess we’ll have to finish our match later. But you know that I would’ve won Kakarot," remarked Vegeta.

"Ha! You know that I would’ve beaten you fair and square. And STOP calling me Kakarot!" shot back Goku.

"Well, we better get going to room 203. I wonder why they needed us. I guess it must be important. But anyway, let’s go."

Goku and Vegeta then exited the Virtual Field and raced down the cold steel hallways that led to the communications building.

The unknown ship that had destroyed Capsule Corp 2031 left Z space and came approximately 12 kilometers away from the dust field that was the remains of the planet Namek.

The dark leader of the group suddenly spoke, "This isn’t far from our target. We shall soon drain all of Earth’s energy and fulfill our order from Ii Shenlong. Tactical officer, status report now!"

The tactical officer replied, "Sir, as you said, we aren’t far from our target. In fact, it will only take three hours at light-speed to reach Earth’s orbit. And as we all know, we may have to fight to control Earth because that is the planet where the Z Fighters came from. But I suspect that we should be able to dispose of them quite easily."

"Don’t grow overconfident of yourself Jinzounun and never underestimate the enemy. Remember, the Z Fighters destroyed all of the dragons except Ii Shenlong."

The shadowy figures bowed their heads down in painful remembrance of when the evil dragons were destroyed and turned back into dragonballs by the Z Fighters.

"However, Ii Shenlong’s brothers shall be avenged and Ii Shenlong shall be freed from that miserable dimension for our time has come to take over Earth and destroy those annoying Z fighters. Now, light-speed towards the destruction of Earth!"

The members aboard the ship cheered as the unknown spacecraft launched itself forwards into space towards their target: Earth.

Vegeta and Goku finally arrived in room 203 where Bulma, Vegeta’s wife and president of Capsule Corp, was waiting with Trunks and some communications officers.

"Vegeta! Where have you been! You should have arrived here ten minutes ago!" screamed Bulma.

"Well, uh, Kakarot and I sort of got lost in the hallways," mumbled Vegeta nervously; "We can’t help it if there are so many twist and turns in this building."

Goku grimaced at the sound of his Saiya-jin name.

"Well Vegeta, its only your fault that you chose not to study the map of Capsule Corp."

Vegeta and Bulma then launched into a full-fledged family argument. Trunks hung his head in shame while the officers looked around nervously.

Suddenly Goku broke into the argument. "Excuse me, but didn’t you call Vegeta and I in here to discuss something important?"

Bulma swung her head towards Goku as if she had suddenly noticed him for the first time. "Oh, hi Goku. How are you?"

"Just fine."

"And the wife? And Gohan?"

"Just fine. Can we please get on with discussing the problem?"

"Sure. Trunks, can you tell your father and Goku about the incident?"

Trunks replied, "Oh, okay." Trunks turned towards Goku and his father. "A short while ago, the ship Capsule 2031 left Earth with supplies for the new colony on planet Makanko. However, the colonists reported that the ship never reached Makanko. We sent out probes along the route that Capsule 2031 took and we retrieved information that shows that a proton space mine type 2896 destroyed the ship. We don’t know who destroyed it and for what purposes yet but we’ll send out some more probes to find any more information. Does this approach sound like any enemy you know?"

Goku was about to respond when a communications officer broke into the conversation.

"Ma’am," interrupted the officer, "we have an unidentified ship that just appeared out of light-speed and is now in Earth’s orbit. What shall we do about it?"

Bulma pursed her lips, thought for a while, and then replied, "Try to open a frequency to allow communication. If the ship doesn’t respond, then send up a communications craft."

"Yes Ma’am."

The officer and others around him worked for a while on establishing some form of communication but they were unsuccessful.

"Ma’am," said one of the officers, "we have to go to the last resort and send up a crew to hail the ship. Do we have your permission to launch?"

"Of course."

*****

A crew and ship was prepared shortly and was soon launched into orbit at an interception course. The ship Capsule 2043 quickly met up with the unknown ship. Transmission opened between communications ship 2043 and headquarters in order to broadcast the procedure.

One of the officers on board turned towards the screen and began reporting all the actions that the crew made in order to establish communication with the unknown ship.

"This is communications ship 2043 reporting to Capsule Corp headquarters. We are now initiating a frequency in order to communicate with the unknown ship."

The officer then looked behind him to see what was currently happening. He then resumed his previous position and continued to report what was occurring.

"We have tried numerous times to communicate but the ship appears to be not responding. We are now commencing to activate the data scanner and…"

Suddenly, warning sirens and red lights flashed around the ship as the ship rocked from phaser impact. The officer who was reporting everything was knocked from his seat; as many other officers were. Among the chaos that the phasers caused, a voice spoke out and reported the status.

"Shield energy is down 100 percent! Hull integrity is at 25 percent! If they fire again we’ll be incinerated! Oh no! They’re charging up their torpedoes! They’re firing! Impact within 5 seconds!"

Transmission suddenly ended as the Capsule Corp communications ship was completely destroyed.

*****

"Oh no," moaned Bulma, "if I had only known…."

"Don’t blame yourself Bulma," comforted Vegeta, "we didn’t know what was going to happen."

Suddenly a communications officer broke the silence.

"Uh, Ma’am, we have a contact from the unknown ship, they are on frequency number 1098."

"What!" shouted Bulma, immediately snapping out of her mournful mood, "Put them onscreen! Now!"

"Yes Ma’am."

A screen directly in front of Bulma flickered on and showed a dark figure lurking in the shadows. Suddenly the figure stepped out into the light and revealed that he was a Namek-jin.

"This is the ship Namek Destroyer and this is the crew, the Alpha Squadron," announced the Namek-jin. "I am Head Commander Dabura. We demand that you surrender the Dragonballs planet Earth or face total destruction of life in the command of Ii Shenlong!"

"What!" shouted Bulma in complete shock at the absurd demand.

"We shall never give up Earth Dragonballs to scum like you or Ii Shenlong!" roared Goku. "If you want this planet’s Dragonballs so badly, you’ll have to fight us for it!"

"Very well then. We accept your challenge. We shall give you three days to prepare for battle. You will soon know where to find us. Also, any fool who attempts to destroy our ship while we are in positioned in orbit shall be incinerated immediately."

The screen then flickered off as the ship Namek Destroyer cut the transmission.

"Goku," asked Bulma, "what have you done? Don’t you remember how tough Ii Shenlong was? Plus, we don’t even know what we’re up against."

"Don’t worry yourself too much Bulma. The Z Fighters and I can take care of this threat. Remember that we defeated dozens of threats like six of the evil Eternal Dragons, Frieza and even Brolli. You have nothing to worry about."

"Well, I guess so," remarked Bulma. "But we still don’t know what we’re up against. Just try and come out of this alive."

"Don’t worry Kaa-san," comforted Trunks, "the gang and I will take care of this. And besides, we always come out alive. Some way or another."

"That’s right Bulma," remarked Vegeta, "we’ll come back soon. Just try and prepare for the worst okay?"

"Okay," replied Bulma. "just come back soon."

"Alright people," shouted Goku, "lets split up and go find the other Z Fighters. Trunks, you find Yamcha, Chaozu, and Tien. Vegeta, you go find Piccolo and Krillin. I’ll go find Gohan and Goten. After we’ve found the people that we’re supposed to, lets meet back at Kami’s Lookout. This situation might be big because Ii Shenlong is involved. All right, lets move out. Ha! I’ve always wanted to say that."

Goku, Trunks, Vegeta hurriedly exit the room and leave Capsule Corp headquarters.

Bulma sighed in exhaustion. "I sure hope that everything works out accordingly. It better."
