"Of Fire and Ice"
Opposites attract, they say
But how could that possibly be
When fire melts ice and ice kills the flames --
They cannot stay together.
How could I have the courage to tell you
When I don't even know how you feel?
But you cannot feel the way I do...
You'd have been brave enough to tell me.
Though you try so hard to be brave,
You shouldn't have had to be leader...
But at first I just didn't care,
And then you always took it the wrong way.
I fight with you to protect you --
Though I'm sure you don't see it that way.
If you make a mistake it will cost you,
And you will never be the same.
If I had but known from the beginning,
It wouldn't have ended up this way
I could have told you, I would have known
If you feel the same way.
But even though opposites attract,
Even if they are supposed to be together,
One will get hurt when they meet --
And IÕm afraid it would not be me.
Since I cannot believe that we were meant to be
IÕll have to settle for "just friends..."
But as a wise man once said,
"Friendship is the greatest kind of love."
