Koushiro
Ken and Koushiro square it off
So, Miyako started off considering Koushiro the greatest thing ever ("The legendary computer club president is looking for ME?!?"), and then she found something she considered even cuter and smarter: Ken. Blaspheme! Koushiro has been shunned, shunted, and silenced by Ken! This is a huge crime if you ask me. Especially since Koushiro is clearly the best. Any Ken fans should leave NOW since you are going to hear a LOT of Kaiser-bashing in here...
1) Intelligence. Well, okay, maybe Ken can write a computer program that will brush your teeth for you, but who really wants a computer to do that?!? Plus, he didn't even design the robots, he PROGRAMMED them. What about all the sensors and everything? It's got to be small, and it better be waterproof, too... And, honestly, who would want one of these things? It's a complete waste of time. Koushiro at least spent his programming time trying to figure out stuff about the nifty-keen digital shadow world he found. A much better use of time, and time-management has GOT to say something about intelligence.
And, of course, even that *gorgeous* computer program of Ken's was under the power of the Dark Spore...
2) Cuteness. Hmm... if it were 01 Izzy against 02 Kenny, I'd give it to the Z-man. But 02 Koushiro against 02 Ken? 02 Koushiro against 02 DIGIWORLD-Ken? I'd have to go with Ken on this one... and he has such a dreamy voice... *whispers* I'm so sorry, Koushiro, I'm so, so sorry...
3) Evilness. Honestly, Ken did such a lousy job of being evil. If one of the characters said "Oh, hi again. We're kind of busy right now, could you come back later? Thanks." Ken would probably just stalk away and beat up Wormmy somemore. Koushiro, on the other hand, would expect to be treated with the utmost respect if he ever turned evil. And who can blame him? Plus, he'd do a much better job beating up Tentomon than Ken does with Wormmon. And nobody would even feel sorry for Tento, either.
4) Romance. Neither of them are particularly strong in this area. Koushy pretty much ignores everybody, regardless of their gender, and Ken seems to hate them all. They've both yet to find someone to break through their barriers... *coughHikaricoughMiyakocough*
5) Family. Hmm... so which is worse, the adoptive-parents-that-didn't-tell-Koushiro-he-was-adopted-Izumis, or the overly-doting-smug-and-idiotic-Ichijoujis? This is a tough one. On one hand, the Izumis are very loving and supportive of Koushiro, on the other hand, the Ichijoujis are very... annoying. I've got to say that the worse-parents point goes to Ken. At least Koushiro's parents love him for who he is, not what he does. (Note: to any of you who are confused, the person with the worse family wins this, since he had to struggle against more growing up. Or something like that, anyway.)
6) Personality. After learning of the Dark Spores, I needed to revise this, but I still say Koushy wins here. Koushiro would have been strong! He would have fought, and won, without having first tortured hundreds of creatures! (... let a fangirl dream, okay?)
7) Name. It turns out Ken's real name is Ken. Geez... could it be any duller? Though he does kind of remind me of Barbie's Ken, but I don't think that was what they were going for. I'd been hoping it was Satoru -- isn't that a great name? It even means "to understand," which is great for Ken. Ichijoujji and Izumi are about the same, in my opinion. If it had been Satoru, I might well have said Ken had the better name. But now, Koushiro wins, without question.
You can tell I'm a big Izzy-lover. I think Koushiro's the greatest, and that Toei, Saban, and FOXKids should be sent lots of emails saying that making him a secondary character, then old and dorky, is just wrong! Tell them to have 04 take place between 01 and twenty-five years after 02. Hey, it worked in the movie! Let's give it a try! Koushiro-fans of the world, unite!
