Guardian's Oath
It started out almost like any other day. ALMOST. There was one difference, though. This time, the digidestined didn't really have anything to do. No evil to fight, no digiworld to restore, nothing. It was a little unsettling. As Mimi put it, "It's as if we're walking on eggshells, waiting for the roof to collapse on us." The rest of the digidestined stared at her in openmouthed shock, partly because she had voiced the entire group's feelings, but mostly because she had done it so well. In sentences that involved something other than her normal complaining. It sounded almost too intelligent to be the ditz they thought they knew so well as Mimi.
Five minutes later, the group was still staring at her, and she was beginning to get annoyed. "What?! Am I not allowed to be smart or something?"
"No, Mimi, it's not that. It's just..." Tai trailed off into silence.
"Just what? Why are you all still staring at me? I know I'm beautiful, but this is ridiculous!"
"We're sorry. We just aren't used to hearing you talk like that." Izzy replied.
"Like wha... Oh never mind! Just stop staring at me."
"Gladly." Matt retorted.
"Everybody SHUT UP! LET'S GO!" Kari shouted.
"OK. Whatever you say, Kari." Tai said in a weak voice.
The Digidestined walked along in the forest, talking amongst themselves. None of them noticed the whispered conversations going on between several strange wild animals hiding in the trees.
"You guys, we have to do something! Our charges are about to walk into a trap! What do we do?"
"Maria, calm down. We'll think of something. The Lady will have our heads on a silver platter if we don't."
"Elana, don't joke about things like that!"
"Bridgette, who said I was joking?"
"All of you, shut your mouths. The Digidestined will not be facing this guy alone. We're Guardians, aren't we?" The speaker was a golden horse. "We won't let them die. They've made it so far, haven't they? With our protection, they have beaten Devimon, Myotismon, Etemon, the Dark Masters, and Apocalymon. This guy should be a piece of cake."
"Okay. Let's go kick some evil Digi ass!"
The Guardian humans were Elana, the silver hawk, Bridgette, the white tiger, and Maria, a golden wolf. The Digimon Guardians were all things out of Digimon legend. There was Ananomon, a tawny brown Centaur Digimon (currently in horse form), Sorceressmon, a blond haired humanlike Digimon with oversized blue eyes (as a silvery wolf), and Oraclemon, a pale, black haired, violet eyed, silent Oracle Digimon (a sleek black panther). At the moment, all were in animal form, standing next to their respective partners.
The Lady was the Cheif Guardian. She was in charge of every Guardian, from Elecmon in Primary Village to the Guardians of Destiny, who were the Digidestined's Guardians. Any screw up was reported to her. And Elana was right. She probaly would have their head on a silver platter if they failed. That's what happened to the guy who was supposed to have guarded Matt whenever he went off by himself. The Lady said that Matt could have been killed, and she couldn't risk that happening. So Adam had died. All the Guardians feared, respected, and worshipped The Lady. They loved her, but they prayed every night that they were still in her good graces.
This enemy would be the first brand new enemy that Maria would face as a full Guardian. She was understandably nervous. Matt and Tai constantly got into fights, and their Guardians were always being brought up in front of the Council. Being brought in front of the Council was every Guardians worst nightmare. The Council members were very forbidding figures. Luckily, she was in charge of TK and Kari, every Guardian's dream charges.
"Maria? You still awake?" Sorceressmon asked.
"Yeah. I can't sleep at all. Did Elana ever find out what this guy's name was?"
"Actually, she thinks it's a girl.
"A GIRL?!?! A little girl digimon is the one causing all this shit?" Maria exclaimed.
"SHUT UP!!!" the other Guardians shouted.
"I wouldn't exactly call her 'little'," Sorceressmon whispered. "She's rather large, and pretty damn powerful if she's screwing with the balance between all the worlds."
"Shit on a fucking stick. We're in trouble aren't we?"
AUTHOR'S NOTES:
Pretty short, I know. I promise I'll do better in Part II!
