Chapter 8: The Earth Crystal
Duo's eye's widened in astonishment. Did he just hear Heero say parents? Yes, he did. What was going on? Why did he say that? What was he talking about? Many more questions ran through his head as he stared at his friend, or should he say son, next thing he knew, he saw the Crescent Moon on Heero's forehead, along with the Earth symbol behind it. That had to mean something. Could Heero actually be his son?
Duo bit his lip as he watched his fellow Gundam pilot confront this guy Darien. He wanted to help, but he was too weak from using most of his energy in the previous battle with Jedite. He then looked down at the motionless body of his love. She had taken a blow that was meant for him. He held her tighter.
"Serena, why did you risk you life for me?" He whispered, caressing her cheek lightly with his finger tips.
Heero glanced at the couple, noticing that Serena was unconscious, and that she seemed hurt badly. He glared at the person responsible for this. Darien, he was called. This so called alley, who stood infront of him, dressed in some sort of gold armor.
"How dare you hurt her!" Heero said through clenched teeth.
Darien frowned, arching an eyebrow. "I didn't expect her to jump in front of him. So you can't really blame me can you?"
Heero was furious now. How dare he. "You won't hurt either one of them. They are my future parents and I won't let you cause anymore damage!" He yelled as his body began to glow a silver and light blue light, morphing his clothes into a blue suit with a silver cap. A single silver streak formed in the front of his dark brown hair, and another staff appeared in his hand, similar to Sailor Pluto's obi garnet, only the Earth Crystal was on top.
Sailor Pluto gasped as she watched the whole transformation. Prince Takeo, son of the Moon and Earth had awakened, bringing with him, the Earth Crystal.
Luna and Artemis also stared at the young boy, shocked at what they were seeing.
"Is that.....?" Luna asked.
"Yes. The Earth Crystal." Artemis finished.
All the Sailor Scouts stared at this boy in awe, knowing he was indeed very powerful, and that he must be the only one who could stop Chaos at this point. With the Prince and Princess weak from this power usage, he was the only on who could do it.
Quatre, Trowa, and Wufei watched the whole thing in amazement. They couldn't believe what they were seeing. First Duo showed an awesome amount of power, now Heero was. Not only that, but they couldn't believe what Heero had just said. Duo, his father? How was that possible.
"I can't believe what I'm seeing." Trowa commented, eyes fixed on Heero.
"Same here." Wufei added, raising his eyebrows.
"I've never seen anything like it." Quatre said in awe, receiving a look from his two friends.
"Who are you!" Darien demanded, sneering at Heero.
"My name is Takeo Tsukino Maxwell." He answered.
Darien frowned. "Takeo huh. So your telling me my Serena is your mother?"
"She's not yours." Heero corrected.
"She's mine and mine alone boy!" Darien glared at him.
"Really....." Heero arched an eyebrow. "I don't think so."
Darien clenched his fists in anger, and began to glow an intense gold. "Why you!"
Heero clutched his staff as the blue gem began to glow, causing his body to glow a bright silver light. "I'm ready." He challenged.
Everyone shielded their eyes from the intense brightness coming form the both of them, including Duo, who wanted to watch the whole thing, but couldn't focus, it was like looking into the sun.
"Heero....." His voiced trailed off as he looked away, and held Serena against his chest.
Pluto could tell that both powers were on an equal level and each one was sending an attack on to one another. She couldn't tell who was winning, but she knew this was one battle they couldn't interfere with like it or not.
Their cries of rage could be heard clearly by everyone. The battle continued for about twenty minutes, when the light vanished, they saw Heero fall to his knee's, gasping for air, turning back into his normal clothes at the same time. Tuxedo Mask laid on the ground unconscious. Clearly, he defeated Chaos once and for all.
"Heero." Duo heard, and watched as Quatre, Trowa, and Wufei made their way to his side, and helped him up.
"Are you alright?" Quatre asked.
Heero nodded. "Yeah, but I'm just a little worn out if you know what I mean."
Quatre smile in relief. "Yeah, I know how that feels."
"What just happened here?" Trowa asked.
"This is all so confusing." Wufei frowned slightly. Heero shrugged, unsure of what to say at them, then turned his attention to the couple.
"Serena, Serena, wake up." Duo said softly, shaking her lightly, but she laid motionless in his arms. "Serena."
"Princess." Sailro Uranus exclaimed, running up to them, followed by Sailor Star Fighter.
"Is she?" She asked, kneeling down on one knee, examining the unconscious girl.
Duo's eyes saddened. "I don't know." He answered.
Seiya kneeled down also and put a hand on Serena's chest. "It's very faint, but I feel a heart beat." She said.
Sailor Mars and Sailor Jupiter ran up to Tuxedo Mask and checked on him.
"Darien, Darien." Rei said, gently shaking him. "Wake up."
Darien slowly opened his eyes, and stared at her. "Where's Serena?" He asked.
"She's with Duo." Lita answered, folding her arms. "She's hurt badly."
"What! Oh no!" Darien's eyes widened, and he forced himself up, and slowly made his way to the couple. "Is she alright?" He asked, standing infront of them.
Sailor Uranus glared up at him, and was ready to attack him when Neptune and Seiya restrained her.
"You did this to her!" She yelled.
"Uranus calm down." Neptune pleaded. "He was under Chaos's influence, he didn't mean to."
Uranus frowned and tore her arms free from the grasp of Neptune and Star Fighter, and stomped away. Neptune followed her a moment later.
Darien looked down at Serena, shame in his eyes at what he had done. "I'm sorry Serena." He whispered, then kneed down before Duo, who raised an eyebrow at the gesture. "My Prince." Darien said. "I pledge my legence to you. You have proven yourself to be the True Earth Prince."
Duo smiled faintly and nodded.
Pluto smiled. "Chaos had been destroyed." She said, approaching them. "However." Her expression changed to serious. "You need to get Serena to the hospital, she's hurt very badly."
"Yeah." Duo whispered, slowly getting to his feet, picking Serena up at the same time.
All the inner sailor scouts approached the couple, and each one kneed before him.
"Your highness." They said.
Duo chuckled lightly and nodded.
Uranus finally calmed down and made her way to Duo's side, kneeling down. "My Prince." She said, then got up. "Let me take you and Serena to the hospital.
Duo grinned. "Let's go then."
Uranus nodded, and started walking.
"May I go with you guys?" Sailor Star Fighter asked.
Uranus frowned but nodded.
"Then let me go too. Please." Darien requested. Uranus was about to say no, when Duo shook his head. She scowled at the former prince then sighed. "Fine, do as you like."
Pluto watched them go, then turned her attention back on the scouts. "Meet them over there." She said.
"What about you?" Venus asked.
"I will be there shortly, there is something else I must do first."
The inners nodded, and left with Neptune.
Quatre and Trowa slowly helped Heero to his feet. Wufei eyed the dark green haired woman who approached them.
"Will you explain to us what just happened here and where we are?" Wufei asked.
Pluto smiled faintly at them. "We can't talk here. I'll tell you everything later. For now. Come with me."
Duo paced back and forth around the waiting room, waiting for the Doctor. Serena had been in the operating room for an hour now. He still couldn't believe she had taken a blow that was meant for him. He stopped and looked at the others. The one called Darien sat in a chair, looking at the ground, while the other two leaned against separate walls.
Introductions had already been made in the car. Amara Tenou was Uranus's real name, but he slightly remembered her from the past, and Seiya Kou was Sailor Star Fighter's real name. It was kinda weird that she became a he when in normal form. As for Darien, well he was the Earth Prince temporally. But that's another story.
The door opened, catching their attention immediately.
"How is she?" Duo asked as the Doctor approached them.
The doctor sighed. "I'm afraid she's in a coma."
"What!" They all exclaimed.
"There's been a certain amount of energy loss, and her body is completely exhausted. I'm not sure how long it will be before she regains consciousness. I've done all I can. All we can do now is wait." He informed them.
Duo slammed his fist into the wall, and clutched his eyes shut. "Serena." He whispered.
Seiya folded his arms, and turned away.
Darien's eyes welled up with tears, he couldn't believe he did this.
Amara shook her head in denial, how could she have let this happen.
"Can I see her?" Duo asked a moment later.
The doctor raised his eyebrows and nodded. "Yes, follow me." He instructed.
"My son. There are many things you must learn. You possess the ability to control both the Earth and Silver Crystal. And you must be prepared to indure anything that comes your way." King Duo advised, putting an arm on Heero's shoulder.
"Daddy, I'm afraid I don't understand." A young Heero frowned in confusion, staring up at him.
King Duo chuckled. "You will it time."
Heero blinked, remembering his father's words. "I've learned much about fighting and War father, but what else did you want me to learn?" He thought, leaning back in his chair.
"What are you thinking about Heero?" Quatre asked, bringing Heero back to reality.
"Huh. Oh, just something my father told me once." He responded, getting up from the chair, and looking out the window.
"And what might that be? If you don't mind me asking." Quatre smiled lightly.
"Something about being prepared for anything." Heero answered.
Quatre rasied his eyebrows and was about to comment when.....
"How long are we gonna hole up in this room?" Wufei complained, sitting on the bed.
Sailor Pluto had taken them to Duo's hotel room and told them to stay there for the time being, until she returned, promising to explain everything when she did.
"Be patient Wufei. Pluto told us to stay here until she comes back. She'll explain everything then." Trowa said, taking a seat on the sofa.
"Hmph." Wufei responded.
"Your father....." Quatre asked, bewildered, remembering what he heard Heero say during his battle. Something about Duo and Serena being his future parents. "You mean Duo?" He added.
Heero sighed and nodded, keeping his gaze on a night time Tokyo.
"How can he be your father. That is beyond impossible. He's the same age as all of us." Wufei stated.
"It may seem impossible to you, but it's a fact. Heero is Duo's son." Said a female voice. They all looked at the door, to find Sailor Pluto standing there, dressed in normal clothes.
"My name is Trista Maiou, and yes this may all seem very confusing, but I'll try and explain it in easier terms."
"I'm listening." Wufei shrugged, leaning back against the bed post.
"You have my attention." Trowa added.
"Same here. I'm all ears." Quatre smiled and sat down on a nearby chair.
Heero turned around and sat down on the floor, looking up at her.
She smiled faintly and sat down on the extra bed. "Heero, I have something for you."
"Huh." Heero raised his eyebrow, as she opened her coat, and a bluish kitten with a Crescent Moon on it's forehead jumped out.
"Prince Takeo. I've missed you." The male kitten said, making a small bow.
"Orion....." Heero's voice trailed off as he picked up the kitten and petted it's forehead. The kitten purred and licked his hand.
"Did that cat just talk?" Wufei raised his eyebrows in shock, pointing at the cat.
The kitten jumped out of Heero's hands and on to the bed where he was sitting at.
"My name is Orion. My parents are Luna and Artemis, advisers to her royal majesty Neo-Queen Serenity. I'm their son, and faithful companion to Prince Takeo, Future King of Silver Tokyo. I will be his future adviser." The kitten informed them.
"That confused me even more. What's all this about Future Kings and Queens?" Wufei asked.
Trista smiled. "If you recall the story Quatre here told you about Duo's past, that's where it all begins. There's also another part to it. Now that Prince Duo has returned, he has claimed what is rightfully his by defeating Jedite and proving who he really it. He is destined to be King Duo of Silver Tokyo and Princess Serenity or as you've heard her called, Serena is his future Queen. Heero is their future son." She explained.
"But I still don't get how Heero is Duo's son?" Wufei frowned.
"He was born in the past, in the 3000 era. His real name is Takeo Tsukino Maxwell, and he was very young when he was kidnapped by Wiseman, an enemy of Silver Tokyo."
She paused. "Somehow he was brought to the future where Duo had been reborn. Wiseman took him intending to turn him against his parents, however, the Earth Crystal formed inside of Heero, and he used that power to free himself from Wiseman. In doing so, Wiseman was outraged and erased his memories of his past before returning to Silver Tokyo, leaving him in the future." Trista sighed, then continued. "I tried to find you, but it was impossible because of the memory loss. A man named Doctor J found you, and raised you." She said, looking at Heero.
"Quite a story." Quatre commented, clasping his hands infront of him.
"Indeed." Trowa nodded.
"So that means were in the past then?" Wufei added.
Trista nodded. "Yes, thousands of years into the past. In a city called Tokyo."
"Doctor J gave me the code name Heero Yuy because I didn't even know my real name." Heero said a moment later. "I didn't know who I was either."
Quatre smiled at him. "Now you do."
Heero nodded. "Where are they?" He asked.
"At the hospital." Trista answered. "Serena was hurt badly from the battle."
"Damn it." Heero stood up, clenching his fists. "I want to see them."
Trista nodded. "Let's go then."
Duo gazed at the sleeping Serena. She looked so peaceful. He shook his head and approached her bed side. "Serena.....I should have prevented this." He whispered, taking her hand in his. "How could this happen."
"Duo. I'm sorry." Said a voice.
Duo turned around to see Darien standing in the doorway, with his arms folded, looking at the ground. "I can't believe I did this."
Duo shook his head. "I'm sure you didn't mean to, since Chaos had control over you at the time."
Darien sighed. "Even so, I can't erase what I did to her."
"Your so right about that." Amara said, entering the room, glaring at him. "You done enough to her in the past, why go over board like this."
"Amara." Duo silenced her. "None of that now. Please."
"I'm sorry your Highness." She apologized, and scowled at Darien, who left the room without saying anything.
Duo watched him go, sighing, he turned his attention back onto the sleeping Serena. Amara pulled up a chair for him. "Thank you." He smiled at her and sat down, continuing to hold Serena's hand.
Later that evening.....
After all the Inner Scouts had left, Duo sat alone, refusing to leave her. The doctor had told him to get some sleep, but Duo would not budge. So the doctor had just let him be.
Rei had been very upset to see her best friend in this condition. And she had left in tears. The others had tried to comfort her, but she brushed them right off, and left. Duo could understand how she felt. He felt the same way. But Darien must be feeling worse. Blaming himself.
He rested his cheek on her hand, looking at her lovely face. "Wake up please." He pleaded.
"Duo." Said a male voice, startling him.
"Huh." Duo sat up and looked around the room, finding Heero leaning against the wal, arms folded, staring at him. "Heero....." His voice trailed off.
"I know telling you to get some rest will do no good. You won't leave her will you?" He said.
Duo chuckled lightly. "No. I suppose not. How can I rest if I'll only worry about her."
Heero nodded. "I'm sure she'll be alright."
Duo arched his eyebrow. "How would you know?"
Heero stared at him, his eyes flickered.
Duo gasped, remembering what he heard Heero say. That he was his and Serena's future son. And there was proof alright. He'd seen it himself. "Your my future son." He said a moment later.
A small hint of a smile appeared on Heero's face as he nodded.
"I can't believe it." Duo's eyes widened in shock.
3 days later.....
Heero laid on his beach chair, watching Quatre and Trowa race each other in the Hotel's swimming pool. Orion sat on a chair beside him, watching on also, while Wufei laid on another beach chair, with shades on, sun tanning.
They had borrowed Duo's swimming gear and cloths, since he had so many, they figured he wouldn't mind, and they got so bored staying in the room. They did a little site seeing, curious about this time.
He sighed and closed his eyes, leaning back in his chair.
"Takeo, I know you will do much in the future, and there is only so much I can teach you. Somehow, I know you will learn on your own." King Duo said, sitting besides his young son.
"Daddy. What are you saying, I don't get it?" Heero frowned up at him.
King Duo smiled faintly. "I'm saying that I will be there when you do all this."
"Really." Heero raised his eyebrows.
"Yes son." King Duo nodded.
"Your Highness, what's on your mind?" Orion asked.
Heero opened his eyes and stared at the kitten. "Just another memory." He answered, blinking. "Oh and just call me Heero."
"But your name is Takeo." Orion raised an eyebrow.
Heero nodded. "I know, but just call me Heero for now."
"Alright Heero." The kitten agreed.
Later that evening.....
Duo kept his vigil at Serena's side. He leaned back in his chair and stretched his arms, yawning.
"I take it you've been here the entire three days." Said a voice.
Duo turned around to find that guy, Seiya standing in the doorway. "Seiya right." Duo asked.
Seiya nodded. "Here, I thought you might like something to drink." He said, tossing him a bottle of soda.
"Thanks." Duo replied, catching the bottle.
"No changes." Seiya asked, approaching the other side of Serena's bed.
"No." Duo shook his head, opening the bottle.
"Serena, it's time you woke up." Seiya whispered, touching her cheek.
Duo frowned at him and took a sip of his soda, trying not to be jealous.
"I'm glad we could offer her our help. She helped us once, and we had to do the same for her." Seiya explained.
"You mean you and your brothers?" Duo asked.
Seiya nodded. "Yaten and Taki." He smiled. "There both on a double date with Mina and Amy right now."
Duo chuckled. "And that's left you with nothing else to do huh?"
Seiya shrugged. "Basically."
"Well the rest of my friends are probably doing something too." Duo answered.
Seiya frowned and made his way to the window, looking out. "She is one of a kind." He whispered.
Duo bearly heard him, sensing that Seiya had deeper feelings for her, but it was something that could never happen. Not knowing what else to say, Duo focused his attention back on Serena, he rested his cheek on the side of her bed, and placed his hand on top of hers.
"Wake up, please." He whispered, closing his eyes, sighing.
Suddenly, he felt something lightly clasp his hand, he looked up, and watched as her eyes opened.
"Duo....." She whispered.
"Serena." He said, standing up, gently squeezing her hand.
Seiya turned around, startled at first, then smiled. "Serena." He whispered.
"You know what?" She asked, staring up at him.
"What?" Duo smiled.
"I'm hungry." She answered, giggling a bit.
Tears formed in Duo's eyes as he allowed himself to laugh.
The next evening.....
Heero stood on top of the hospital roof, watching the sunset. He was glad Serena had finally regained consciousness. She was going home today, and he was unsure of what to do. Should he return to his parents. It had been so long since he'd last seen them. And yes, he missed them deeply. Then he thought about his life as a Gundam Pilot. Could be just leave all of that behind? Now that he knew who he truly was, he was unsure of how to feel. Then he recalled another memory.
"I want you to know that your father and I will always love you my little Prince." Neo-Queen Serenity smiled, looking down at her son, who stood infront of her. "You are very passionate and caring, and I'm sure you'll make the right choices for yourself."
Heero blinked. "I don't know what you mean."
Neo-Queen Serenity kneeled down and held both of his hands. "What I mean is that you have so much to do in your future, and I know that you will make the right decisions."
"Will I mommy?" Heero asked.
The Queen nodded and hugged him. "Yes Takeo. You will indeed." She whispered.
Heero folded his arms and bowed his head. "I love you too mother." He whispered.
"So there you are Heero. Been wondering where you ran off to." Said a familiar cheerful voice.
Heero turned around to find Duo standing not far away with his hands on his hips, a side grin on his face. "What are you doing up here anyway?"
Heero turned away, returning his gaze back to the sunset. "Thinking." He answered.
"About your parents huh." Duo asked.
"Yeah." Heero nodded.
Duo was unsure of what to say as he approached him, so he only put his hand on his shoulder.
Heero looked at him, waiting for him to speak.
"I'm sure their waiting for you." Duo said, smiling.
Heero blinked, then smiled faintly. "They are." He agreed.
That night.....
The Starlight's left earlier, and Serena had thanked them for their help. And Seiya, she was glad to see him again, but her heart belonged to another. He knew this, and he was happy for her. She told them to visit soon.
The other scouts knew this was a personal matter, so they left Serena and Duo to say their good byes to their future son, and to Duo's friends.
"It was a pleasure meeting you." Quatre smiled as he held her hand.
"You too. All of you." She returned the smile, gazing at each one of them, then let her eyes settle on the one called Heero. Duo had told her he was their future son, and she believed it. She walked up to him, and handed him a peach rose. "Take care Heero." She said.
Heero accepted the gift in amazement, he looked at her and smiled. "Thank you Serena."
"I know we'll meet again." She smiled.
Heero nodded, while Orion, who was laying on his shoulder meowed.
"I'll miss you too Orion." She giggled, petting his forehead.
The kitten smiled at her, then looked at his future parents. "Take care of Future Queen Serenity alright mommy and daddy."
Luna and Artemis raised their eyebrows in shock. "We will." Artemis answered.
Duo stepped forward, facing Heero. "I won't say good bye, because I know our paths will cross again, but until then, take care of yourself." He smiled.
"You know I will." Heero answered with a smile.
"It's time to go." Sailor Pluto informed them.
They all nodded in response.
"Thank you Heero." Serena whispered before they disappeared in a sliver flash.
Duo wrapped his arms around her waist, and rested his head on her shoulder. She looked up at him, allowing his lips to claim hers in a sweet and gentle kiss she knew all to well.
Neo-Queen Serenity stood on the balcony of her palace, looking up at the Moon, thinking about her son. King Duo stood beside her, and held her hand.
"I miss him so much." She said, close to tears.
"I know, I do too." Duo agreed, bowing his head.
"Mother, Father." They heard. Both turned around to find their teenage son standing behind them.
"Takeo....." Serenity's voice trailed of as she stared at him, tears of joy trailing down her cheeks.
"Son." Duo whispered.
Heero allowed his tears to fall freely as Serenity took him in a gentle embrace.
The other three Gundam Pilots smiled as they watched the whole scene from the other side of the room.
Pluto nodded in satisfaction. With a faint smile, she slowly walked away. Her job was finished. "It's done your Highness." She said to herself.
Prince Diamond couldn't comprehend his anger. Chaos had been defeated. Neo-Queen Serenity had given birth to her new born son. And she was not yet his. She was still with Duo.
"She will be mine!" He vowed, smirking, then leaned back into his throne.
