Chapter 1: Finding the Prince
Princess Serenity walked out onto the balcony, she looked up at a full Earth, smiling, she thought about her prince, who would be arriving soon. He was the Earth’s prince, here one and true love, or so she thought. She heard footsteps approaching, and she knew who it was.
"Serenity, it’s good to see you again my love." Said Prince Darien, sliding an arm around her shoulder.
"I’m glad you came. I’m worried.... our wedding is only two years away, and war seems to be forming on your planet." Serenity looked down. "I feel the darkness forming somewhere, I just don’t know where. I’m scared for both our kingdoms my love."
Darien gently took the princess in his arms, and held her, she leaned into his embrace, feeling tears form, but would not fall. She looked up at him, both staring into each others eyes. Slowly, Darien’s moved forward, until his lips met hers. Serenity closed her eyes as the kiss deepened, never had it been this sweet and gentle before. When she opened her eyes, she saw that Darien no longer stood there, in his place was another guy. When he pulled away, he took both of her hands in his, and gently squeezed them.
"Duo." She whispered. "Can it really be you."
"Yes Serenity. It’s me, I may have been gone, but my love for you still remains. He smiled, looking deep into her blue eyes. Searching them.
"I thought I’d never see you again." Serenity said, returning the smile. "I missed you so much."
"And I you.....One day, we will be reunited, and set everything strait, until then, farewell my love......" Duo’s voice trailed off, as he released her hands, and disappeared.
"Duo wait......." She stammered, and fell to her knee’s, feeling fresh tears form, and trickled down her cheeks. "Don’t leave me again."
Duo woke up sweating, trying to catch his breath. He looked around the room, seeing that both Wufei and Trowa were still asleep, and Quatre was sitting up, looking at him, concerned.
"Duo, are you alright, I heard you talking in you sleep." His blond friend asked him.
"Yeah I’m alright. I must have been having a good dream, for me to wake up like this." He joked, grinning at his friend. "I mean, I haven’t slept in days because of our last mission, much less dream, so I think I had better go back to sleep."
Quatre looked at him, confused. "Are you sure your alright."
"Yeah. Go back to sleep before we wake up Trowa and Wufei, you know how cranky they can get." Duo yawned.
"I guess your right. Well....good night then." Quatre shrugged and laid back down.
Once Quatre had fallen asleep, Duo put his arms behind his head, and stared up at the ceiling, wondering what his dream was about, and who was that girl. She was one of the most beautiful girls he had ever seen in his life.
"She couldn’t be real, could she?" He thought, closing his eyes. "Serenity."
Serena opened her eyes, and sat up, wiping a tear from her eye. And clenched her sheet’s next to her chest.
Luna woke up, seeing the tears in Serena’s eyes, she sat up also. "Are you alright Serena?" The cat asked her.
Serena shook her head. "I’m not sure. I feel so sad"
"What happened?" Luna asked, her eyes showing concern.
"My....my dream...... there was something about it." Serena said.
"Oh....Really. What was it about."
"Duo." She whispered, closing her eyes, and laying back down.
Luna bearly heard her, but it sounded as if she said a name, a name that was long forgotten.
Luna walked Serena to school, the next morning. She noticed that Serena was not her cheerful self at all. She had even gotten up early, and didn’t say much. The cat had tried to ask her about her dream again, but Serena had told her she didn’t want to talk about it. And they walked silently to school. Once Serena was inside the building, Luna left, in search of Artemis. She found him near by. He had also just left Mina, who also disappeared into the building.
"Artemis." She said as she ran up to him. "We need to talk. I think it’s important."
"Really. What happened." The white cat asked her.
"Not here. We have to go somewhere else."
Artemis nodded and followed Luna, both cats heading for the park.
Duo sat on a rock, watching the sun come up, remembering his dream. He thought about it more. "Who was that girl?" He wondered, never seeing her before in his life. Could he have just imagined her, or made her up. Sometimes, during his battles with Oz, he used to let his mind drift, thinking it would be his last, and images of her would flood his mind. Giving him the strength he needed to defeat the other enemy mobile suits. Somehow, it felt like he knew her like the back of his hand. Yet he never met her.
"Come on Duo, we have a mission to go on." Heero said, approaching him.
"Huh. Oh right, a mission." Duo responded, still deep in thought. He got up, joining his friend, and followed him back to the base.
Luna and Artemis sat under a tree, discussing a Serena’s dream.
"I mean she woke up with tears in her eyes." Luna explained. "And she said a name that has not been said in years. I thought she would have forgotten it completely."
"What name would this be?" Artemis asked, his eyebrow arched.
"Duo." Luna sighed. "I thought Queen Serentity erased all the memories of him from her mind."
"Duo. As in Prince Duo of Earth?" Artemis raised his eyes brows.
Luna nodded. "I was sure The Queen had taken care of it, to spare Serena the pain, but it seems that it didn’t work."
"It did work Luna." Said a female voice.
They both looked up to see Sailor Pluto standing infront of them.
"Sailor Pluto." They both said.
She nodded, and sat down beside them. "Queen Serenity did indeed erase all memory of the former Prince, knowing that it was unfair, but she had no choice. Serena would have suffered to much from the pain. Not only that, but her love for him was strong, and they were engaged just her and Darien are now. Once the original Royal family of Earth was killed, the people appointed a new Royal family, and Queen Serenity betrothed the new Prince to her daughter. It was necessary to continue the peace of both Kingdoms."
"What happened to Prince Duo and the rest of the former Royal family?" Artemis asked.
"They were killed by Queen Baryl’s generals, who posed as Prince Duo’s guards. And later they did they same with Prince Darien." Pluto answered.
"Are you saying that this was one of Baryl’s plans to bring war among the Kingdom’s and then take over the universe?" Luna asked.
Pluto nodded. "This was what Queen Serenity suspected, so she sent the Prince into the future. She had to save him, he is Serena’s true Prince, and future King of Crystal Tokyo. I have been waiting for a sign to inform me of this, now I have to do as Queen Serenity instructed me to do. I must go now. Do not tell Serena or any of the Inner or Outer Scouts about this. When the time is right, I will inform them. Until then, please take care and comfort Serena, there will be many more dreams she will have." With that, Sailor Pluto disappeared. Leaving the cats surprised and shocked with the information.
Serena sat at her desk, looking at the page in her text book, but not paying any attention to it. Her thought’s were on the dream. Who was this guy she dreamed of. Duo. His name was. She was unsure of how to feel. She felt like she knew everything about it him, but never met him before. He always seem to come to her mind whenever she fought her enemies. The thought of him used to give her strength, and she sometimes used to see his face after Darien would kiss her. She didn’t know what to think.
"Serena." Said her friend Lita. "Are you alright, you looked exhausted."
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just didn’t get enough sleep." Serena assured her.
"Oh. Late date with Darien huh? She smirked.
"No." Serena answered, her face turning red with embarrassment. "I just had a hard time going back to sleep after this dream I had."
"Dreaming about Darien." Lita teased.
"Lita would you stop it. It has nothing to do with Darien." Serena said, glared at her.
"Oh well excuse me, I thought everything with you was Darien this and Darien that." Lita shot back.
"Well not everything is you idiot." Serena yelled.
"What did you say?" Lita arched her eye brows in anger.
"You heard me." Serena smirked.
"Would you two stop it." Amy hissed. "Or Ms. Haruna is going to give you both detention, and what is the big deal about Darien."
Both girls turned red and bowed their heads in embarrassment.
"I’m sorry Serena." Lita apologized. "I didn’t mean to upset you or anything."
"It’s alright Lita. I’m just in a bad mood, being deprived of my sleep." She smiled.
Lita smiled back. "And about Darien, sorry if I went over board teasing you."
Serena giggled. "Let’s just not talk about him for the rest of the day."
The next night.......
Duo was in the middle of repairing his gundam when there was a silver flash. He cover his eyes with his arm, shielding his eyes from the blinding light. When the light was gone, he removed his arm, and was startled to see a women standing in front of him, with long dark green hair, dressed in some sort of outfit, and wielding a staff.
"Who are you?" He asked. "And why are you dressed like that?"
"I am Sailor Pluto, Guardian of Time, your highness, and this is my sailor outfit." She said.
"Sailor Pluto, what kind of name is that? And just what do you mean by Your highness." Duo arched his eyebrow.
"Just what I said. I’ve come for you, your highness. The time has come for you to reclaim what is rightfully yours, and to set things right." She explained.
"You actually expect me to believe what your saying. That I’m some sort of Royalty." He said sarcastically.
"Yes. You are Prince Duo of Earth. The rightful heir to the throne, and I don’t have to convince you, it’s your destiny."
"Wow. My destiny. I never knew I had one." He joked.
"This is no joke, I have been sent here by her Royal majesty Queen Serenity to get you. It was her wish that you be reunited with your fiancée when the time was right." Sailor Pluto nodded.
"Fiancée. Now just a minute, I don’t have a fiancée, nor do I have any intention of getting married anytime soon Lady. Who do you think you are trying to impress me with the light show, and telling me all this? Duo said, putting his hands on his hips.
Sailor Pluto sighed. "You still don’t get it. It’s your destiny and you can’t change that. I have to do as my queen instructed and you have no choice but to come with me."
"Hey now, don’t try anything funny." He said, pulling out his gun.
Sailor Pluto just stared at him, not flinching. "I’m sorry, but I have to do this. You give me no choice." She lifting her hand, sending a purple ray at him.
"Whoa, what is that?" He said before going unconscious.
Sailor Pluto stared at him, and lifted him up, holding his arm around her shoulder, steadying him. Just then, Quatre, Heero and Wufei walked into the room, in time to see a strange woman, holding Duo up.
"Who are?’ Heero demanded, pointing his gun at her. "And what do you want with him?"
Sailor Pluto looked at them, and shook her head. "I’m known as Sailor Pluto, Guardian of Time. I’m here for only one reason, and that is to retrieve the Prince. It is now time for him to take his place." She answered, then disappeared.
"DUO!!!!!!!!!!" Quatre screamed, running to the spot where he they had stood, Heero and Wufei watching him.
"He’s gone." Heero said. "That women took him."
"But what could she possibly want with him?" Wufei asked.
Heero shrugged. " I don’t know?"
"What exactly did she mean by Prince?" Quatre arched his eyebrows.
Heero shook his head, and left the room, leaving Quetra and Wufei to wonder what happened to their comrade.
When Duo opened his eyes, he saw that he was on a bed in what appeared to be a hotel room. He sat up and looked around. The room was fancy, with white walls, and peach carpeting.
"Nice." He said, looking at the room.
"I’m glad you like it." Said a voice.
He looked up to Sailor Pluto, but dressed in normal cloths. "Where am I?" He asked.
"In the past. In a city called Tokyo." She answered.
"The Past. What do you mean?"
"You are thousands of years into the past. I’ve brought you here to full fill your destiny." She said.
"Will you tell me already! I don’t understand anything your saying. What is it about me that is so important?" He arched his eyebrow.
"I guess now I can tell you." Sailor Pluto sighed.
"Alright Pluto. Fire away." Duo joked.
"When I’m not in my sailor form, call me Trista."
"Alright then Trista. Tell me."
"Luna, Artimis, I think he’s ready to hear it." Trista said as two cats appeared.
"Your highness." Both cat’s bowed.
"Talking Cats!" Duo exclaimed.
"Yes, but we are no ordinary cats, we come from a distant planet, and we served her majesty Queen Serenity of the Moon Kingdom." Luna explained.
"Moon Kingdom?" Duo said. "I never heard of it."
Luna and Artemis sighed. "Yes well, we are hear to tell you about your past. And who you really are Duo Maxwell."
"Who I really am. What are you talking about. I know who I am, I am the gundam pilot of Deathsythe." He shrugged.
"That is who you are at the present, we are talking about your past life." Artimis said jumping on to the bed, along with Luna.
"What they are trying to say is that you lived thousands of years ago, during the time of the Silver Millenium. You were know as Prince Duo of Earth. Your family was the original Royal Family. You were engaged to Princess Serenity, and your family was betrayed by four general’s who worked for Queen Baryl, an enemy of both your kingdoms. And they killed you and your family." Trista explained, sitting on the bed, facing him.
"That is deep." Duo said, raising his eye brows.
"When that happen, Queen Serenity, sent you to the future to be reborn, so that you would one day return and take you place." Artemis finished for her. "It seems that she sent you far into the future."
"Sadly, she erased all memory of you from Princess Serenity’s mind. She knew that it would hurt her too much. But now those memories are beginning to return." Luna said.
"So what happened after this." Duo asked, intrigued.
"A new royal family replaced yours, and a new Prince was appointed. The Queen betrothed him to the Princess in order to keep the peace between both your kingdoms. But Queen Baryl formed and army, and the Earth attacked the Moon, she also unleashed the negaforce, and destroyed the Moon Kingdom. Queen Serenity used all her power to defeat her and sent the Princess and her court a thousand years into the future. They had no memories of their past. But now they do. And live in this time and present." Trista answered.
"If all this is true, then why don’t I remember any of it?" Duo asked, unconvinced.
"Your have to wait until you fully regain your memory which you will." Said Luna.
"I have something for you." Trista smiled, taking out an object out of her jacket pocket. "This."
"What is it." Duo asked, staring at the silver ring, with a blue crest symbol written on the top of it.
"Your ring. On it is your family’s crest." She said, handing it to him.
Duo took it, and studied it. "It’s beautiful."
"I think it’s time for us to go." Luna said. Artemis nodded and followed Luna, both jumping of the bed, heading for the door.
"You must rest your Highness. We will come by to check on you." With that, Trista got up and left.
Duo sat on the bed, staring at the ring. Slowly, he slide it on to his finger, it fit perfectly. He laid down, and thought about what Sailor Pluto and the cats told him. Thinking about this Princess. Could that girl he saw in his dream be her. He sighed, this was too much for him. He closed his eyes, and drifted off to sleep. The blue crest, glowed a light blue then went back to it’s normal state. Acknowledging the royal blood in his veins.
