Chapter One: The Crystal

Duo and Quatre made their way inside of the base and towards the room where the crystal was being held undetected. Duo frowned as he saw two OZ soldiers walk by. "There's are disguises, Quatre. Wait here and make sure no one else comes around while I take care of those two," He insructed. Quatre nodded in agreement and Duo crept after the two soldiers.

Quatre noticed a group of soldiers guarding a room and he instinctively knew the crystal that he and Duo sought was inside there. Duo returned smiling as he adusted his OZ outfit. He threw a similar outfit to Quatre and guarded the door so the pilot could dress. Once the two were dressed they walked over to the other guards and forced all nervousness out of their systems.

"We are here to relieve you of your duties," Duo said in a cheery tone. The soldiers looked at each other and frowned, "We haven't got any orders to leave this post to anyone." Duo shrugged, "We were told that some sort of celebration was being held and that we were to releive you soldiers so that you could attend." The soldiers again glanced at each other. "There was supposed to be a banquet tonight..." One said in a near whisper. The leader turned to Duo his eyes serious, "While we are gone it is your duty to guard this door until we return." Duo nodded and watched the soldiers leave. "Morons," He whispered to Quatre.

Quatre opened the door and noticed the giant crystal in the center of the room. He cautiously walked to it and wondered how he and Duo were supposed to get the heavy jewel out of there. "Duo, how are we supposed to get this out of here?" He questioned. Duo smiled thinly, "I don't know but we better hurry. I think our soldier friends are returning. Quatre placed one hand on the crystal and gasped as the crystal cracked beneath his hand. Duo stared at the crystal in shock as it began to glow from the inside out. "Quatre, you broke it," Duo hissed. Quatre stared at it for a moment, "Duo, if this is lethal gas we better get out of here."

The crystal shattered more and Quatre's and Duo's eyes widened in shock as instead of a weapon an unconcious woman was revealed. "What is this some sort of trick?" Duo demanded. Quatre stared at the woman and he blushed as he noticed what she was wearing, "Is that a night gown?" He asked Duo. Duo nodded and turned his head as he heard the door being attacked, "Quatre, we can't stay. Let's get her out of here now!" Quatre nodded in agreement but wondered how he was supposed to get the woman out. Duo rolled his eyes at his fellow pilot's embaressment and putting one arm beneath her knees and the other beneath the woman's back he picked the woman up and walked to the window. "Here goes!" He yelled before breaking the window and jumping through. Quatre watched his friend fall and hurriedly jumped from the window as the door opened and the soldiers entered covering the room with their fire power.

Duo swung the woman over his arm as he searched in his pocket and found his small flying device. He glanced down and paled at how close to death he had been. He and the woman both hit the ground with force and Quatre rushed to his friend's motionless body.

Duo groaned in pain and glared at the woman, "No time for whining, Quatre we have to get out of here!" He ordered before picking the woman up again and running away from the base. Quatre nodded and ran after the two.

They came to a forest and without further thought Duo rushed in. He heard a slight whimper come from his burden and frowning set the woman down as her eyes opened.

Quatre stared at the woman in disbelief, "How did you survive being locked inside of that crystal?" He asked in disbelief. Serena turned to the speaker and she nodded slightly, "You were the one that rescued me, weren't you?" She questioned. Quatre stared at her in confusion but nodded. Serena smiled at him. "Thank you," She said in a near whisper.

Duo frowned,"Hey, what about me? I am the one that got you out of there you know." Serena giggled her cerulean blue eyes sparkling, "Thank you, Duo," She said ending in another giggle. Duo stared at her, "How do you know my name?" he demanded. Serena smiled, "Pluto told me that two people would rescue me and their names would be, Duo and Quatre." Duo studied her, "Pluto?" Serena nodded, "Sorry, but I can't tell you about her." Quatre blushed and diverted his eyes, "Do you always walk around in public in your nightgown?"

Serena blushed, "This is not a night gown but I can see how you came to that conclusion. She closed her eyes and concentrated. She flickered a pale pink color and when the light vanished she stood in a knee-length pleated skirt and a plain white shirt with a red bow. "My name is Serena."

Quatre smiled, "It is nice to meet you, Serena." Serena yawned and noticed Duo frowning, "I know you don't trust me and I don't blame you. I'm here for one reason and one reason only," She informed them. Quatre noticed her eyes had dulled, "What's the reason?" Serena looked up and smiled faintly, "I can't tell you that either." Duo interrupted, "Why was that message sent to us, and why bother saying it was from five thousand years ago?"

Serena tossed her hair behind her shoulder, "Luna would never fake a message. That was from five thousand years ago." Duo frowned deeper, "Why do you keep lying?" Serena stood to her feet her eyes blazing, "I wouldn't lie about something that important." Quatre stood to his feet, "If she says the message came from five thousand years ago then I believe her." Duo glanced at him, "Quatre, we know nothing about her. You can't trust people so easily." Serena was about to speak when she heard someone coming through the forest, "Duo, you have to trust me," She hissed. Serena placed herself in front of the two as a hideous creature appeared. It noticed Serena and smiled revealing row after row of razor sharp teeth. "Ready to give your energy to the negaverse?" It questioned.

Serena glared at the creature and was startled when Duo pushed her out of the way and pulled out his gun. "Get down, Serena!" Quatre yelled as he brought out his own gun. Serena shook her head in horror, "That won't work," She said as she pulled out her brooch, "Moon Crystal Power!" She shouted. Feathers and light surrounded her and when it faded an angered Sailor Moon stood. The creature stared at her, "No, not you! Not again!" Sailor Moon glared at the creature, "How dare you attack innocent people. In the name of the moon I will punish you!" She took off her tiara and watched it turn into a discus. "Now, are you prepared to be destroyed?" She asked. The creature glared at her and with it's final breath attacked Quatre. Sailor Moon gasped in horror as the plantanium blonde-haired boy fell beneath the monster's attack. "Moon Tiara Magic!" She screamed in fury. The tiara raced towards its target and successfully turned the creature into dust. Sailor Moon rushed to Quatre's side and noticed his side was bleeding, "Don't worry, you'll be alright." She assured as she brought out the Silver Crystal. "Moon Healing Activation," She whispered holding the crystal above Quatre's injured body. She nodded in approval as the wound healed. She detransformed and lowered her head. "I may be here too late. They've already arrived," She whispered.

Duo stoood stlaring at her, "Who are you and what was that thing?" He demanded. Serena lowered her head, "That was a monster, and I've already told you who I was." Duo shook his head, "Explain everything about yourself right now," He demanded aiming his gun at her. Serena sighed, "I was sent here to defeat not only that monster but the people who sent it." Quatre watched as Serena's eyes dimmed. "Sent here?" Serena nodded, "Pluto had my frineds encase me inside of that crystal. The crystal could only be broken by the touch of a pure hearted person," Quatre looked at her startled. "Pure-hearted? I'm not pure hearted..." Serena smiled, "Of course you are. You couldn't have broken the crystal if you weren't." Quatre turned red in embaressment. Serena giggled. "Your friends encased you inside of that crystal? What kind of friends are those?" Duo demanded.

Serena frowned, "An evil thing called the Negaverse has reawoken and is threatening to destroy this world. I thought I had defeated it long ago but it has came back with a vengenance. Pluto told me that it would reappear five thousand years after my ruling came to an end. To prevent this world from being destroyed I agreed to be placed inside of the crystal so that I could be reawoken when the time was right," Duo scowled at her, "Wait a minute... ruled?" Serena nodded, "Yes, before I was placed inside of the crystal I was Neo Queen Serenity ruler of Crystal Tokyo." Quatre noticed a tear in Serena's eyes, "What's wrong?" He questioned. Serena wiped the tear from her eye, "I sacraficed much to ensure that the Negaverse doesn't take over."

Duo sighed, "Well whoever you are we still have to get you to safety. Serena looked up startled. "You want to help me, Duo?" Duo nodded, "Why not? We have nothing better to do as long as OZ is threatening to use the colonies as a shield." Serena's eyes grew saddened, "Colonies?" Duo nodded, "Yes, we protect the colonies no matter what." Serena sighed and glimpsed at the trees, "There is no time for talk. I have to defeat the negaverse and since there are colonies there's no gurantee that I will be able to find their base in time to stop them."
