A silent attack had just been launched by Queen Byrle and the Negaverse. Prince Darien had already started fighting as well as all available soldiers including the Sailor Scouts. Serena ran to the room at the end of the first hallway. Duo's room. She knocked, because she didn't want to catch him at an awkward moment, eventhough there was an attack. He answered the door, knowing full well who it would be. No one else would knock on his door, but Serena. "Serena, is the attack I've heard about real?" Duo asked. "Yes, I'm so scared. Can I stay here with you?" Serena asked. "Serena, I should go fight." Duo said, hesitantly. "No, I need someone to stay with me. What if you get killed. You're the only decent person I know. Please, stay with me." Serena pleaded. Duo couldn't say no. Not after the look in her eyes. "Alright, Serena, I'll stay here with you. Come on, we should at least stay in a corner or something." Duo said, guiding Serena to a corner facing the only window in the room. The room was black. Just like a Prince of Death would want it. They sat down in the corner and Serena leaned into Duo, literally shaking from fright. "Why are you shaking so much?" Duo asked, wrapping his arms around her for comfort. "I'm afraid." Serena answered. "I'll protect you from anything that can hurt you, you don't need to be afraid." Duo said. "No, not for me. I'm afraid for Sailor Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, mother, the guards, that idiot Prince Darien, for everyone, even for you." Serena explained. "For me? I'm death. You can't kill death." Duo said. "Yes, you can. When everything is dead, there is no more death. Nothing left to die. Everything's already dead. I don't want you to die." Serena said. Duo couldn't lie to her, there was a chance she and everyone else would die. If he said he wouldn't die and he did, he'd have lied to her. He never lied. Especially to Serena. Tomorrow was to be the ball. That moron of a prince would probably get himself killed, though. Oh, well. One less idiot in the world.
Suddenly the castle collapsed. Serena and Duo were still holding onto each other. Both were under the rubble and would soon die. "I love you, Duo." Serena said. "I love you too, Serena." Duo confessed. "Mother will have us reborn. She'll have everyone reborn." Serena said. "I'll miss you, until we meet again, then." Duo said. "Me too, but we will meet again." Serena said. Finally, with those words said, Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom and Prince Duo of Death died in each others arms.
"I'm gonna be late!!!!!" Serena Tsukino yelled, as she ran her usually dash to try to get to school before the bell rang. There were supposed to be new students today. Five of them. She didn't want to be late and not know their names or anything about them. What if something awful had happened to one of them and Serena just happened to say something to remind them of it? They'd hate her forever! Just what she wanted, more enemies. She crashed through the doorway and tripped over a desk, ramming into some file cabinets, making a huge noise. "Serena!" Ms. Haruna yelled at her pupil. "Sorry, Ms. H, but I did make it on time!" Serena beamed. "Yes, for once. Take your seat by one of the new students." Ms. Haruna said, pointing to Serena's seat now next to a boy with long brown hair in a braid, who was trying not to laugh at Serena's misfortune. "Boys, please come to the front of the class and introduce yourselves." Ms. Haruna ordered. Five boys stood up and walked to the front of the class. Ms. Haruna pointed to a Chinese boy with his black hair in a tight, low pony tail. "I am Wufei Chang." Wufei stated and fell silent once again. Ms. Haruna pointed to a boy with his bangs over one of his eyes. "Trowa Barton." Trowa said, softly and fell silent. Ms. Haruna pointed to a blond. "I'm Quatre Raberba Winner! Nice to meet all of you!" Quatre beamed, before falling silent again. Ms. Haruna pointed to a boy in with cold, piercing eyes. "Heero Yuy." Heero stated in a monotone and fell silent again. Finally Ms. Haruna pointed to the boy with the braid. "Duo, Duo Maxwell. Pleased to meet ya all!" Duo chirped happily. Heero gave him a death glare and Duo was silent again, though he probably had nothing, but nonsense left to say anyway unless he wanted to say something like his favorite subject or where he was before he came here, to Crossroads.
Each student took their seats. "Serena, would you show Duo around? The other students got here early and looked around, so they know where all of their classes are, but I was told your classes are, for some reason, identical to Duo's." Ms. Haruna said. "Sure Ms. H." Serena said. She looked about to go to sleep.
Finally, the bell rang. Science next. "Science is just down the hall. Follow me, Duo!" Serena said, happily as she literally dragged Duo along with her to the science room. When the teacher had explained that they would be working with chemicals, Serena wasn't too thrilled.
Duo was reading in the text book about what to do next, when Serena started to feel light headed. As soon as Duo put the book down, Serena fainted. Duo caught her and figured that it was from the fumes of the acid they were working with. Nevertheless he needed to get her out of there. He didn't even bother to ask the teacher, he just ran with her in his arms to the nurse's office.
"She'll be fine. She just had got too much of the acid vapors. She should go home, though. Wait here until she wakes up and help her home. Your new, so follow her directions as she says them. Her mother should be the only one home, if I'm not mistaken by the records we have on Serena." The nurse said. "Sure. When do ya think she'll wake up?" Duo asked. "Shouldn't be too long, now. Probably any minute." The nurse said, busying herself with some sort of paper work. Some help. Serena began to stir.
"Huh? Where am I?" Serena asked, groggily, sitting up in the bed. "Your in the nurse's office. You inhaled too much of the acid fumes and fainted. I'm supposed to take ya home." Duo said, standing up. "But, you don't know where I live." Serena said. "That's why your gonna tell me what to do and where to go. By the way, is there anything I should know?" Duo asked. He meant like, people or things he should stay away from. "Yeah, Darien Shields. He's a guy that keeps on bothering me. He's a college boy and he's got some sort of thing for me, but he's really arrogant and calls me names. I can't stand him, but he wont leave me alone. If I start to go the opposite direction , he's probably why." Serena said. "He sounds like a sick pervert." Duo said, a disgusted look on his face. "We'd better get going." Serena said. Duo nodded and got up, making sure to stay where he could catch her if she fainted or something.
On the way to her house, they had to pass Crown Arcade. A man with short black hair, midnight blue eyes, an arrogant look on his face, a black shirt under an olive green jacket, and blue jeans, carrying school books under one arm. Somehow, Duo knew this dude was Darien. "Hey, Meatball Head!" Darien called out. "Listen, creep! My name is Serena! Not Meatball Head! Serena! Can we pronounce that?! Say it with me now, Serena!" Serena shouted at the man. "Sure I can say your name. MEATBALL HEAD!" Darien yelled. He was getting too close to Serena for Duo's taste. Duo stepped in front of Serena. "That's enough. Get your sorry ass away from Serena. You could be sued for stalking you know." Duo said. "Who's this? A girl or a guy? Get a hair cut. What do you mean stalking?" Darien asked. "First of all, I'm Duo, Duo Maxwell. Death to you. I'm a guy and I have the equipment to prove it, if ya don't believe me. I like my hair. At least I'm original! That hair cut you've got is so five minutes ago along with how you dress. Black is in, yeah, and I'll admit blue jeans never die out, but a jacket that looks like that? Come on! What I mean by stalking is the way you always seem to magically appear out of no where wherever Serena is. THAT'S stalking. Leave 'er alone and go back to school." Duo said. He didn't have time to think up really snappy answers, he had a few things on his mind and he wasn't helping. "Oh, so you're her new boy toy, huh?" Darien asked. "BOY TOY?!" both Serena and Duo yelled at the same time. "Yeah, didn't I see you on a motorcycle the other night?" Darien asked. "I don't know, but to notice something like that, are you into guys? 'Cause I don't swing that way. Find someone else. I'm no one's 'boy toy' but I assure you, I'm not a person to toy around with. Come on Serena. You are so uncool, dude." Duo said, taking Serena's hand and leading her the way she had directed seconds before Darien came.
"Where on EARTH did he get 'boy toy'?!" Serena screeched. "Who knows. I told ya he seemed like a sick pervert to me." Duo said. "Well, I already KNEW that. You CAN go back to school, ya know." Serena said. "Yeah, a pervert like that loose in town and I'M supposed to leave you alone. I don't think so, especially since this dude seems to WANT you." Duo said. Serena blushed. "Shut up, Duo. He's just a jerk." Serena said. "Suit yourself, but don't come crying to me when..." Serena interrupted Duo before he could finish. "Keep THAT thought to yourself. I don't want to hear it said out loud where everyone can hear." Serena said. Duo just smirked. "Because, you know I'm right." Duo said. "No, because your starting to get on my nerves. Your just as bad as Darien." Serena said. Duo almost fell over. His jaw almost hit the concrete sidewalk. "I'M like Darien?! That's an insult! How dare you compare me to someone like him!" Duo said. "Well, we're at my house, now, so you can leave. I take it back, your not like Darien. At least you can walk with me without hitting on me." Serena said. "That's better. Your forgiven. Though, if your mom would let me, I really DON'T wanna go back to school." Duo said. "Who would? School's boring." Serena said. "Well, I do like P.E. Not only do we get to play basketball, but we get to see the girls in their P.E. uniforms." Duo said. Serena felt like turning around and punching him in the nose. She had P.E. when he did, except he was on the other side of the P.E. area. Duo saw Serena's face turn red with anger. "Are ya mad 'cause your thinkin' I was talkin' about you?" Duo asked, slyly. "No." Serena said, going inside, Duo following her.
"Serena, what are you doing home so early?" a woman asked from the kitchen doorway. "I inhaled too much of the acid fumes and I fainted. The nurse said I was supposed to come home. This is Duo Maxwell. Duo, this is my mom. Duo's here, because the nurse wanted him to make sure I got home safe. He's new here. Can he stay? He doesn't really wanna go back to school." Serena said. "I suppose. Rini should be home in an hour and Sammy should be home in two hours. Nice to meet you Duo. It's fine if you stay. Though, it might be kind of boring, if Serena falls asleep." Mrs. Tsukino said, going back into the kitchen.
