Story blurb: Duo isn't the God of Death, he's the Prince of Death. Prince Darien of the Earth has decided to take Princess Serenity's hand in marriage. Princess Serenity absolutely hates Prince Darien, but there is nothing she can do about it, because her mother, Queen Serenity is forcing her to marry him, because it would be better for peace. The Prince of Death also has his eye on the beautiful Moon Princess and decides to make a deal with Prince Darien.
Disclaimer: I don't own Gundam Wing or Sailor Moon. The only characters that would be mine are the ones I make up to further the fic or in other words the characters that don't belong in either show.
WARNING: There is a chance that some of the characters may be out of character.
Princess Serenity ran out of the Moon Castle and out into the nearby woods. She knew those woods well. She always hid there when something had upset her. Her mother, of all people, is forcing her to marry Prince Darien. Prince Darien was an arrogant fool. She had kindly, yet sadly, agreed to meet Prince Darien today. When he came, he'd decided to show her off to his guards. The generals Malachite, Zoesite, Nephlite, and Jedite. Then he forced her to kiss him. She couldn't do anything about it, he was much stronger than she was, and she knew it. She had immediately run out of the palace and into the woods. She had several places in the woods that no one would ever think to look.
Princess Serenity stopped and sat on a large rock, hid her face in her hands and started to cry. That wasn't how she'd imagined her first kiss to be like and she had never imagined it to be from a fool such as Prince Darien. This thought only made her cry harder. Why him? Why Darien? Of all people why did she have to marry him? He would only hurt her.
"Lovely Princess Serenity, why do you cry? What has happened to make such a Goddess cry?" A soft voice asked. Princess Serenity, startled, looked up to see a man dressed all in black. He had a loose shirt, slit down until it came to his stomach, so it was easy to see his chest, black, what seemed to be some sort of leather, pants, he carried a scythe with him, a cross necklace, he had a long braid down his back that Serenity could only imagine was to his thighs. He was quite handsome, but if she remembered right, he was Prince Duo of Death. He was supposed to be evil, but how could an evil person care to even ask why she was crying. His face had concern in it. An evil person only has concern for themselves, but his concern was directed toward her, not himself. His eyes were a nice shade of cobalt blue. Almost violet. "Nothing anyone would want to hear about." Princess Serenity said. "I don't agree. I would like to hear about it." Prince Duo insisted. "You know of Prince Darien of Earth, do you not?" Princess Serenity asked.
"Yes. I know of the arrogant fool." Prince Duo said. He knew of him alright. Who didn't? He took his rank for granted. He could have just as easily been born a peasant boy, but he was born a prince. Too bad. Something had to have happened to make him so arrogant. Probably was never disciplined as a child. He was always showing off. He thought his was ten feet tall and arrow proof, probably magic proof as well. Prince Duo couldn't imagine a princess that would be willing to even give him a second glance. "My mother is forcing me to marry him. She's afraid that since he asked for my hand in marriage, if I say 'no' there will be a war between the Moon and Earth." Princess Serenity said. Prince Duo almost fell over. "You? A woman as pretty as you are going to be forced to marry a troll like that? That's not right. Surely, though, that is not the only cause for your tears. What else happened?" Prince Duo asked. He always knew when he was getting the whole story and when he wasn't. "No, that isn't the reason I was crying. That was the reason why I was angry. I was crying because he decided to show off to his four generals. He came after I agreed to meet him today. I only did it to please my mother. I don't know if he had decided it would be funny or that I was something he could show off, but he decided to force me to kiss him. It wouldn't have made me so upset, but that was, unfortunately, my first kiss. That's not how I imagined it to be, no girl would imagine it to be like that and I definitely never imagined it to come from him." Princess Serenity said with a sad expression. She looked like she wanted to cry again.
"I see. What....what if I kissed you?" Prince Duo asked. He knew it was awfully forward, but maybe she could pretend it was her first kiss or something. If it would make her happy, he'd do anything. He'd had his eye on her since he'd first seen her. "What? Why would you want to kiss me?" Princess Serenity asked. "Well, you could pretend it's your first kiss. You don't have to kiss me if you don't want too, I just thought it would be better than remembering that sorry excuse for a prince's kiss all the time." Prince Duo said. "What would mother say?" Princess Serenity asked. "What does it matter? She couldn't change it. The kiss would have already been done." Prince Duo said. "Well, alright." Princess Serenity agreed. "Are you worried because I'm supposed to be evil?" Prince Duo asked, seeing her hesitation. "No, you can't really be evil. Evil people don't act like you." Princess Serenity said. Prince Duo smiled. First time he ever got a compliment like that. He really didn't think now was time for a conversation. If he was going to do this, he'd better do it now before someone came looking for her. He leaned down and gave her a soft kiss. His kiss was returned. For someone who's only been kissed once, she was good at it. It was a soft sweet kiss. Suddenly, a guard came into the small clearing. "Princess Serenity, what are you doing with this evil creature?" the guard asked, aiming one of his arrows at Prince Duo. "Guard, no. He's not as evil as people say he is. What is the meaning of disturbing me, in the first place. You know that when I'm here no one is to bother me." Princess Serenity said. "I am sorry, your majesty, but Queen Serenity wishes to speak with you. She doesn't seem pleased." Said the guard. "Oh, no. I'll be right there." Princess Serenity said. "Guard, would you be so kind as to tell Prince Darien that the Prince of Death wishes to speak with him immediately?" Prince Duo asked. The guard looked at Princess Serenity. Princess Serenity nodded her head in agreement. "Yes, your, uh, your highness." The guard said. He wasn't sure what to call Duo. He hurried off. "Mother will be angry. I had better leave, now. Thank you, Prince Duo." Princess Serenity said. "Please, just call me Duo." Duo said, bowing. "Then you can call me Serena. Bye for now Duo." Serena said, leaving. Duo smiled in return. He wanted to make a deal with that idiot of a prince, Prince Darien of the Earth Kingdom.
"Serenity, I don't understand it. I know you don't love Prince Darien, but you need to put your happiness aside for the people of the Moon Kingdom and the peace of the Silver Millennium. You've got to marry Prince Darien and that is that." Queen Serenity ordered. "But, mother, I can't stand him. He would only end up hurting me. I understand what I must do, though, and I will marry Prince Darien. I do have a favor to ask of you, though, mother." Serena said. "What is it?" Queen Serenity asked. "I know people say he's evil, but I've met him and he's not evil at all. I want to know if he agrees to it, can Prince Duo stay here until the wedding? I want to invite him and the ball in honor of my engagement to Prince Darien. I wont run off like that into the woods again. But, if I do get upset with him, can I at least go to my room? I know that even people who are married and love each other get upset with each other and need some time to themselves sometimes." Serena said. "I suppose. Just don't make a spectacle of yourself. I suppose the Prince of Death can stay here until your wedding is over. I'll have one of the maids get a room ready for him. Before you ask, yes you can go find him as long as you bring your guards with you. It's protection from him that you need them, but I don't want anyone kidnapping you before you even get to him." Queen Serenity said. "Oh, yes of course, thank you mother!" Serena beamed, hugging her mother.
"Did you want to see me, Prince of Death?" Prince Darien asked, haughtily. "Yes, I want to make a deal with you, Prince of Earth. I, also, have had my eye on Princess Serenity, but you have already gained her hand. I don't think I had a fair shot. If I can win her love by the day before her wedding to you, you agree to let me have her if she agrees to having me as her husband?" Duo asked. "Alright, I agree. She's already mine, though, and that's the way it shall stay." Prince Darien said, shaking hands with Duo to seal the deal like a bet.
"Duo, there you are. I've been looking all over for you. I have something I need to ask you." Serena said, coming into the courtyard, accompanied by her guards. "Yes, what is it, Serena?" Duo asked. The guards gasped at the way Duo was addressing their Princess and Prince Darien scowled at Duo. He hadn't known that they already knew each other and called each other as if friends. If he had known, the deal would have never been agreed too. "Queen Serenity has agreed to let you stay here in the palace for the ball that will be held in honor of my engagement to Prince Darien and you are also invited to the wedding if you would like." Serena said. "Of course I'll stay. Anything for you, Serena." Duo said, bowing. Serena winced. "You don't have to bow, Duo." Serena said, gaining more gasps from her guards and a deeper scowl from her soon to be husband. "Oh, will you stop that? You are surprised at our actions, I understand, but must you gasp like that? And please, Darien, must you scowl like that? It's not as if it's the end of the Silver Millennium." Serena said. Duo couldn't help but grin like an idiot. It was all he could do to keep from laughing. "Of course, Serena." Duo said. Darien put on a fake smile, and he definitely wasn't good at faking. Duo had to laugh. He was laughing so hard so fell over. Not very becoming to a prince, but he couldn't help it. "What are you laughing about Prince Duo?" Prince Darien asked. "You're really bad at faking. That smile...." Duo trailed off laughing, as Prince Darien scowled again and stormed off. "Duo, get up. You've laughed enough. I don't want you getting sick." Serena said. Duo stopped laughing, with a lot of effort. Every time he thought of that smile, he couldn't help but fall back down laughing. "Duo, come on, stop." Serena said, trying to help him up. She only succeeded in falling down herself. "Duo! Stop laughing so hard!" Serena said, laughing now, herself. The guards didn't know what to do. They decided if they didn't leave their Princess be they might be punished.
Prince Darien was set to go home, but not before having a talk with Queen Serenity about the Prince of Death.
