Chapter 5: Tenchi Returns

2 weeks later.....

Tenchi knocked on the door to Washu's lab, wondering how exactly he was going to ask her the question, without sounding like an idiot.

"Come in." Came the scientist's voice.

Tenchi took a deep breath and opened the door, he walked in to find her typing on that computer of hers.

"Yes Tenchi?" She asked, not looking up from the screen.

He cleared his throat, and rubbed the back of his head. "Um. Little Washu, I hear that your going to Jurai in a week, and.....I....." He couldn't get the words out.

Washu smiled, looking at him. "Let me guess, you want to come with me."

Tenchi blushed and nodded.

Washu shrugged. "Sure why not, but you'd better let Ryoko know, or she'll start raving away at me."

He laughed uneasily, but managed another slight nod before exiting her laboratory.

Ayeka won yet another practice round against her opponent. It was her third time with the sword routine. She caught her breath and bowed to her opponent, to show it had been a good match. He returned the bow.

"Very good." Her Sensei complemented. "You've learned much Ayeka."

"Thank you Sensei." She said, bowing.

"That's it for this evening. Keep practicing with your sword, also practice your offenses and defenses." The older man said.

"Hai Sensei." She replied, as he left the dojo with the other two trainers.

Once she was alone, she began to practice the sword play her Sensei had instructed. She swung it side to side, and threw it up it the air, catching it with one hand, she imagined that her enemy was in front of her, and flung if forward.

"Quiet the sword play." She heard. She looked at the door, to find Wufei standing there, arms folded. "Care to have a small dual with me?" He asked.

She smirked, then walked over to the wall where the weapons were hung up, she grabbed a sword, and tossed it to him. "My pleasure. Let's see what you've got huh." She challenged, standing in a fighting stance, and held up her sword.

Wufei caught the sword and chuckled. "Alright Woman. I'll show you." He stated, getting into a fighting position.

"I told you not to call me Woman." She frowned, clenching her sword.

"Enough talk. Let's get started." He smirked, then pointed his blade at her.

"Fine. Let's see how well your skills are compared to Juraian ones." She arched an eyebrow, and then pointed her sword at him with both hands.

The two charged at one another, hearing the blades collided. They fenced using what skills they knew, and the sound of metal clashing was all they heard as they continued their duel. Ayeka swung her sword at Wufei, who blocked her move with his sword and pushed her back with his weight. She jumped back grasping her sword handle tighter, and used a move Yosho had taught her, and knocked his sword out of his hand. He gasped and flipped back as she came at him with yet another attack. He grabbed his sword and used both hands to stop her next attack, using on hand for the handle, the other on the blade, kneeling on one knee as she stood over him, pushing down her blade.

"Argh." Wufei muttered, holding off her attack, and used all of to push her back again with his weight. She jumped back and twisted her sword in a circle, getting into another fighting stance as he stood up straight. He raised his eyebrows in wonderment, thinking about her fighting style, trying to come up with a move to counter act them.

She smirked and lifted an eyebrow. "Am I too much for you Earthling." She joked.

"You wish." He taunted, and charged at her.

She giggled, and moved aside as he ran past her.

He turned around, and frowned. "Come on Woman. Show me what you've got!" He yelled.

"My name is Ayeka!" She screamed at him, then jumped infront of him. "And I'll be more than glad to show you what Jurian sword play is like."

"Then show me." Wufei demanded, bracing himself for another one of her slashes.

They began another round of sword play and continued it for about an hour. Around that time, Wufei was panting slightly, while Ayeka had bearly broken a sweat.

"Is that it?" She asked.

"Hah. Not even." He taunted, then swung his sword at her, which she blocked with hers, and gracefully used another of her techniques, and knocked it out of his hand, and sent it slamming into the wall.

"Looks like the dual is mine Wufei." She claimed, holding down her sword.

Wufei scowled and turned away.

She smiled. "It was a good dual."

He closed his eyes. "Your good with a sword, but how good are you at sparring?" He asked.

Tenchi sat down on the steps of his grandfather's shrine, taking a sip of his bottled water, trying to catch his breath. He just came from practice. Lord Katsuhito had showed him three new sword techniques, and he also had him practice using the step on logs again. They were really a pain, but it was part of his training.

Washu was going to Jurai in one week and he was going with her. "I'm in love with Ayeka." He thought. "Why did it take me this long to realize that, and what did grandpa mean by saying I'd still be blind?"

"Tenchi." Said a voice.

He looked up to find Ryoko looking down at him. "What Ryoko?" He asked.

"Found out your going to Jurai." She said, folding her arms.

"Yeah so?" He took another sip of his water.

"Why?" She asked.

Tenchi choked on his water, startled by her question. "Why.....Umm....." He stammered, trying to think of an answer.

"You love her don't you." She answered for him.

Tenchi bowed his head. "What makes you say that?"

She frowned. "Because ever since she left you haven't been yourself, and your always talking about her. Asking Sasami if she's heard from her."

He sighed, closing his eyes, not knowing what to say.

Ryoko held her tears back. "I knew it." She whispered, then disappeared.

"Ryoko." Tenchi whispered. "I'm sorry."

Ayeka threw another punch at Wufei, who dodged it, then moved away as she did a kick, and then did a perfect round house. She blocked his high kick, and jumped back, grabbing his fist as is came at her, and kneed him in the stomach, he blocked that too.

She jumped back in frustration. Her eyes narrowed, as she studied him. She clenched he fists in anger, because instead of Wufei standing there, an image of Tenchi appeared, holding Hurana's hand.

She cried out in anger and lunged forward, her fist aimed at him. Wufei's eyes widened, realizing her emotions were begging to control her.

"Leave me alone Tenchi!" She screamed, throwing a punch at him, adding a kick to it.

Wufei moved out of the way, and only blocked her moves. Knowing that it was not him she was really attacking, but an illusion of someone else. She threw more punches and kicks at him, but he managed to dodge them, moving out of the way as she came at him.

She was breathing hard, glaring at him, then charged at him again. This time, he grabbed her arm and flung her to the floor, and pinned her down, holding her by her wrists. She struggled to free herself, but he tightened his grip, and leaned forward until his face was only inches away from hers.

"Ayeka!" He yelled.

She gasped as the image faded, and looked up to see Wufei staring down at her.

He frowned. "You let your emotions control you. It's very foolish to let that happen when your in combat." He said, gazing down at her.

She sighed. "How would you know? You have no idea of what I've been through." She whispered, looking away.

He smiled faintly. "Maybe I have and idea, because I've been through just as much."

Her red violet eyes flickered as she stared at him. There eyes met in an intense gaze. Somehow she couldn't look away. His lips moved very slowly towards hers until she felt them lightly brush against hers.

"Hey Wufei!" They heard. Wufei looked up to find a wide eyed Duo. "Oh sorry!" The braided pilot apologized, turning away.

He released Ayeka from his grip, trying to think of something to say.

"Ayeka....." His voice trailed off as he got to his feet, but before he could get any words out, she got up and ran out of the room.

"Some Romeo you are." Duo frowned, looking in the direction she had went.

"Shut up." Wufei scowled, crossing his arms, and turned his back to him.

Ayeka relaxed the tension in her body, leaning her back against the warm miniature waterfall in her bath tub. "Did Wufei almost kiss me?" She wondered, frowning slightly. "Such an intense gaze." She said out loud, then ran a finger tip over her lips, remembering how soft his lips had felt. She allowed herself to blush at the thought. What was going on? What was this feeling she felt all of a sudden. It felt like her heart was racing just by thinking about him.

Later that night.....

Wufei stood on one of the palace's balconies, looking up at the many Moons, thinking about what almost happened. He almost kissed her. He was unsure of what came over him.

"Have I fallen in love with her?" He whispered, bowing his head. They had only been on this strange planet two weeks, and he had developed a strong interest in Jurai's Princess, but not he felt an even deeper feeling he couldn't ignore.

"Wufei." Said a soft voice.

He turned to find Ayeka standing behind him, staring at him.

"Ayeka." He acknowledged her.

She made her way to the balcony railing, placing her hands on the top. Looking up into the sky. "I want to apologize for taking my anger on you during out little match. I let my feelings over take me." She closed her eyes, bowing her head.

Wufei shook his head. "You do not need to apologize, I know what it's like to lose control."

"Huh." She opened her eyes, and looked at him, questioning.

"I also know what it's like to lose someone." He added, looking at her.

She raised her eyebrows, curious. "You've lost someone?" She asked.

Wufei nodded lightly. "My wife. Meilan. She went into battle."

Ayeka gasped. "He was married." She thought.

"The marriage was arranged, and there wasn't enough time to form any kind of feeling, but her death left me feeling empty inside." He continued.

"How sad." She said, blinking. "Empty. That's how I've felt for the last seven hundred years."

"Because of the one called Tenchi?" He asked.

She frowned, but nodded slightly. "Yes, and also because of Yosho. He was Jurai's First Crown Prince, and my intended, but he left Jurai with another woman."

Wufei figured Yosho was the one with long black hair, and Tenchi was the one in the photograph. "How dishonoful." He answered.

She smiled faintly. "Yes. You know, both of them are also the reason why I left Earth."

"Are they also the reason you went to Earth?" He asked.

"In a way yes, but it was mainly because I was searching for Yosho. Wasting seven hundred years of my life." She muttered the last part.

Wufei heart it, she had been through much, just like him. He looked at her, she seemed so sad. Her hurt was most likely caused from both of them he figured, for what she had just to told him. Without thinking, only using his instincts, he gently took her hand in his. She looked at him, puzzled.

"I'm sorry about what you've been thought Princess Ayeka." He said softly.

She smiled. "And I you Wufei Chang." She responded.

A week later.....

Emperor Asuza was holding a ball in honor of the treaty that had been sighed with the neighboring Kingdom. Their planet and Jurai had agreed to become allies. He was also planning on arranging a marriage between Ayeka and the Kingdom's Prince, but figured he's give it a little more thought.

"Interesting festivities wouldn't you say." Duo commented, leaning against a marble pole, sipping his drink.

"Very." Wufei agreed as his eyes over looked the room of nobles and lords. And the visiting Kingdom's court. They had both dressed in formal Juraian clothing that was similar to their usual clothes. Duo wore a black two piece suit, and Wufei wore white pants, and chose to wear a white shirt that looked similar to his original silk one.

Duo folded his arms, watching the couples dance. "This kinda reminds me of the dance competion I went to back in the Colonies." He said.

Wufei looked at him, raising an eyebrow, then returned his gaze back to the dance floor. "The dancing looks almost like a waltz." He thought.

"May I have this dance?" Queen Fanaho smiled, holding out her hand at Duo.

"Uh....." Duo stuttered. "Sure."

Wufei watched as Duo took her hand, and went out onto the dance floor. He chuckled and shook his head.

"Wufei." He heard, then looked to the side, to find Ayeka standing right beside him. His mouth dropped in awe as he stared at her outfit, which was a navy blue gown with a light blue vest type top, and long black tight sleeves that traveled down to her arms, where they formed into small triangle shaped gloves that covered her hands, but not her fingers.

She smiled at his expression. "Honor me with this dance?" She requested, extending her hand.

Wufei blinked then found his voice. "My pleasure." He answered, taking her hand allowing her to lead him out onto the dance floor.

They were about to do a waltz when the music shifted to a slower pace and most of the couples left the floor, except for a few. Wufei was unsure of what to do since dancing was something he didn't so often, but managed to put his hand on her waist, and held her hand with the other while she place her hand on his shoulder, both then began to sway to the soft music. Their distance from each other lessened as the song continued. She rested her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes.

"Ayeka.....I....." He started when.....

"May I cut in?" Said a familiar male voice.

Ayeka looked up to see someone she least expected, Her eyes widened in shock.

"Tenchi." She whispered.
