It was a beautiful day and Serena decided to go
out for a walk. She hummed to herself thinking about the fact that
in a month she would be 18. As she continued on her mind shifted
to the fact that she and Darien had been together for almost three years
now. That didn't seem that long, but for most couples it was.
At Dariens apartment she rang
the door bell, when no one answered she figured that he was asleep so she
let herself in. She walked in the aparment and instantly heard faint
talking. One voice she recognized as Dariens, but the other, a females
voice, she did not. She soon discovered that the voices were coming
from Dariens bedroom. Pressing her ear to his door she listened to
what they were saying.
"Wow Darien that was amazing."
"I know."
"I thought you had a girlfriend."
"I do, but she's a whinny cry baby."
"I bet you've never done anything like this with her before."
"No way."
"So how long have we been doing this?"
"I don't know, six months."
"And she hasn't found out? She has to be a total flake!!"
"She is."
Serena was beyond angry, ever so gently she pushed
the door open just enough so that she could see inside. What she
saw not only made her heart break but it took her breath clear away.
There was Darien, her Darien in bed, BED, with another woman!! Serena
clenched her fists, her body shaking with sobs.
Finally she exploded, throwing
the door open as hard as she could she screamed out.
"I HATE YOU!!!"
"S...Serena, let me explain...."
"Explain this you jerk!!"
Serena took the ring he had given her off her
finger and threw it at his head. She then turned around and raced
out of his room. She raced out of the apartment building and down
the street. Her eyes spilling silver tears over the ground as she
went. She had never been so hurt in her life.
As she continued to run, she
raced right by Lita, Ami, Raye and Mina without even stopping.
"Hey meatball head!!"
Raye called after her, but the fleeing girl never stopped.
"She must be late to meet Darien or something."
"I don't think so."
"Why's that Ami?"
"She was crying."
"Crying?"
As the girls started after their friend Darien came racing by them.
"Darien! What's wrong with Serena?!"
"Can't talk now."
He said as the girls watched his disappearing back.
"I don't like the looks of this."
"Neither do I."

Serena continued running, she raced down the busy streets untill she arrived at the park. Then she decided that they would look for her there so she continued to on. After a while, as she had lost track of time, she arrived at the poorer part of town. Finally stopping she leaned against an old building, and sunk down to the ground. She was completely consumed by her tears and she did not hear the young man who walked up to her, she only noticed him when he aksed her a question.
"Miss. are you ok?"
"N....no..."
"Can I help you in any way?"
"No."
"So what's wrong?"
"I just walked in on....my boyfriend....in bed...."
"Let me guess, with another woman?"
Serena shook her head and began to cry again. The young man, whom Serena observed as being very good looking with long brown braided hair, sat down next to her.
"I'm Duo, Duo Maxwell."
He said politely.
"I'm Serena Tuskino. How....how old are you?"
"Almost 18."
"Wow, me too."
Serena was trying to take her mind off of Darien. She was just about calmed down when she heard his voice calling out her name.
"Oh no, it's him. I have to get out of here."
"Come with me I know where we can go."
Duo held out his hand and helped Serena to stand.
The two ran around the corner and climbed some stairs to a fire escape.
When Darien was gone Duo offered to take Serena to the ice cream shop so
they could talk. In there Serena was not her usual self and didn't
want anything to eat.
After while she thanked Duo
for his help and left. She wandered around for several more hours.
She was heading home when someone grabbed her arm from behind.
"Serena we really need to talk."
"GO AWAY!!"
"Serena please!"
The angry blonde doubled up her fist and slammed it into Darien's face. The larger man went down and the girl ran off. Serena's four closest friends saw this and ran past the man to catch up with her.
"Serena!!"
"I, don't feel like talking right now."
"Come on Serena, something is obviously wrong, why else would you knock Darien out."
"Maybe because he's a back stabbing cheating jerk!!"
She shouted loud enough so that Darien could hear her words. The four girls lead thier friend away. They arrived back at Serena's house and sat down.
"Come on Serena, tell us what's wrong."
"I...I don't want to talk about it."
"Did Darien do something?"
"Yes."
"You called him a back stabbing cheating jerk, were you being literal or hypothetical?
"In english Ami?"
"Was that the truth?"
"Yes."
"Come on just tell us, we're your friends and we will help you."
Taking a deep breathe, Serena devoulged the information that the others sought after. Everyone of her friends, even Ami, offered to kick the crap out of him, but Serena just shook her head. She told them that there was no point in it, it couldn't undo what had already been done.

Five months went by, Serena avoided Darien like
th plague, and when he did comfront her he always got the same response,
a fist in the face. Serena was now 18, but she hadn't been the same
since the day she discoverd her boyfriend was unfaithful to her.
Than one day Serena overheard
Andrew and Darien talking.
"I still can't believe you did that to Serena, and now Ann is pregnant."
"She's been pregnant, for about six months now."
"Oh Darien that is really low. Poor Serena."
That evening as Serena and her friends were walking she told them what she had heard.
"You know what, I think we need to go on a trip and forget all about him."
"That's a good idea, I own a little cabin up in the woods we can go there."
"I say we leave tomorrow morning."

First thing in the morning the five girls left for the cabin, but when they got there they discovered that someone else had broken in and was now residing there. The girls walked into the cabin and right away saw a young man with his back to them.
"Excuse me."
Ami said to the young man. When he turned around he held up a gun pointed at them.
"What do you want?"
"Well I want to know why you are here in my cabin."
"See Heero, I knew this would happen."
Serena turned in the direction of the other persons voice, she knew it from somewhere.
"Why hello there Serena, remember me?"
Duo asked stepping out into the girl's view.
"Duo?"
"You do remember!!"
Duo happily bounded up to the girls.
"So who are your friends?"
"Well um, this is Ami, Lita, Mina and Raye."
Serena motioned to each of her friends. As she was talking three other guys came into her view. One of them, a cute blonde pushed the man with the gun's hand away so that the gun was now poingting at the ground.
"Why don't you introduce us."
Raye told him looking at the hunky guys, her eye especially caught sight of a young man with jet black hair like her own.
"Well this here is Heero, he's a big grump."
"Hello Heero."
Mina eyed him with mild intrest.
"Next this is Quatre, he's the overy concerned one of the group."
"Hello everyone."
Quatre smiled at the group, his eyes seemed to be seeking Ami's out.
"Next we have Trowa, he's very quiet, and this here is Wu-man."
"Damn it Maxwell my name is Wufei!!"
"Yeah well they get the picture. Anyway, we are sorry we broke into your cabin, we don't have anywhere else to go."
"It's ok, your all welcome to stay, provided that Heero puts his gun away."
Before heero could do anything, Mina was all over him. The Perfect soldier dropped the gun, and found himself at the mercy of the crazed blonde.
"So why are you here?"
"I could ask you the same question."
Ami and Duo stared off, finally Ami told them why they were here.
"Oh yeah I remember that ass hole, Serena, for what it's worth I'm sorry."
"Thank you Duo, I just needed to get away."
"We are here because we are on a short vacation, however I think that we some how ended up in a parallel dimension."
"Do you think the time line has shifted much?"
"I don't know but it might have been a time rift that brought us here."
Ami and Quatre walked off talking in an alien language. Raye and Wufei soon walked off talking of martial arts and temples. Lita and Trowa went out to do what ever and Heero was currently running from Mina. That left Duo and Serena alone.
"Would you like to go for a walk?"
"Sure."

Out side the sun was starting to dip lower in
the sky. Birds sang and animals ran around without care or worry
of hunters. Serena walked down the dusty path, Duo was close at her
side, they did not exchange many words, but when they would speak, it was
great enthusiasim.
Serena realized that she really
liked this guy. He was funny and nice, he was very carefree like
herself. He also had big beautiful eyes, just like her own.
Serena was worried, perhaps she was just trying to like someone, what if
she never got over Darien? She could be eternally stuck looking for
love in all the wrong places.
"What are you thinking about Serena?"
"Love."
"What about love?"
"Well it's harder to let go of something you love, than to find it."
"Are you thinking about him?"
"Honestly no, I don't really miss him that much, I guess I just loved him because we were supposed to be destined to be together. I never thought that I could be telling myself one thing, and my heart be feeling another. Darien was wrong for me, he was too complicated and serious, I need a fun loving person."
The pair stopped when they reached the top of the ridge, the forest below was washed in the golden sun's rays as it slipped behind them. The sky was now orange and red and yellow colors, it looked just like a painting, something you only see in dreams.
"It's so beautiful, the most beautiful thing I have ever seen."
"I know of at least one thing that is eve more beautiful."
Serena looked at him, his big violet eyes were filled with a gentle tone.
"And what would that be?"
"You."
At that moment the world froze, the only things
there were them and the sunset. Serena smiled she knew in an instant
who she had been ment to be with, he was the other half that made her whole.
Darien had never in the three years they had been together, said something
so nice.
Serena reached her hand out
and touched his face. Then like a magnet, their lips were pulled
together into a kiss, the sweetest most wonderful kiss of their lives.
"Serena will you be my koi?"
"Yes, always so long as I live and even after that."
They kissed again then turned to face the almost completely hidden sun.
"I guess letting go is easier than I thought..."
