the mystic moon
Hitomi sat on a bench out side her school. it was her last day in highschool. she was staring off into the sky. Yukari sat next to her. "hitomi?" hitomi forced a smile. "hello Yuakri..." yukari frowned. "your thinking about him arnt you...?" hitomi sighed. "i have been ever since i found out about... my.. well you know." yuakri smiled. "do you know how happy he'd be Hitomi? to see you again? and to see what you have?" Hitomi looked away. "no.. i've lost contact with him. he's probaly married with a kid by now. he is the king..." Yukair frowned. "but hitomi you know this isnt your home. Van at least has the right to know..." hitomi sighed. "i just don't know Yukari...."
Gaea
Van watched the skies from his balconey. he tried hard not to think of the girl from the mystic moon. he tried very hard. but it was hard. especially since he had to find a wife soon. she seemed to be the only one he could think about lately. Mearl approached him. "he's thinking about her..." she sighed and put her arm around his. "it's o-k Lord Van. what you feel will reach her." van smiled softley. "i wonder what she's doing now..."
Mystic Moon
it was after midnight. hitomi was sitting on her roof. Yukari was right. even if hitomi didnt want to go back Van still had a right to know. besides... who was she kiddding? she'd love to see him again. even if he was married off by now. and there was so much she had to tell him. she'd een able to go back to Gaea any time she wanted since she found out. but she never could bring her self to it. she sighed and stood on her roof picturing the pendent in her mind. "oh Van.. i dont think i can go any longer without seeing you again..." she pictured it swinging. back and forth back and forth. she pictured Vans room. she'd only seen it once. but even if the castle was rebuilt she knew it was still the same. she closed her eyes and concintraited. wings. feathers. 13. Van. pndent. light. love. lost. a collum of light apperead on the roof. Hitomis mother jumped out. "Hitomi!" she cried. "i'm sorry mother! i have to see him again! i'll come back! i love you!" Hitomi was pulled up. a tear escaped her mothers cheek. but she knew this was for the best.
Gaea
Van sat in his room. he remembered how this whole thing started. the girl he was destined to Marry was also an Atlantien. infact the last beside himself. but Dorkerk had her kidnaped, and mos likely killed. it wa rumored she had a lot of power. but that didnt really matter any more. Dorkerk was defeated. and now he had to deal with the fact that he had to choose a wife... the life of a king is hard.
somewhere
hitomi was beeing pulled in every direction. she could feel it. but as she went the few seconds between her world in the next she remembered her firend. Mearl, Allen, Dryden, Malerna, and Van. she was exited. so exited she hadnt ever gotten prepared. but it didnt mtter. so what if they had all gorow up. it was worth it just to see them again...
Gaea.. Vans room
Van tossed and turned.he was dreaming about Fanalia burning. he fell out of his bed and his wings shot from his back. he rubbed his head. "oh..." something was glowing from his table by his bed. he turned. "the pendent." he picked it up. it was glowing. he walked out by his balconey. he stood there not bothering to put his wings back' or so to say. he watched the skies. he let out a ong sigh. "oh Hitomi... if only i could see you again. where are you...?" something caught his eye. a feather had fallen in front of him. he snacthed it outta the air. "huh?" it was notone of his. it was long slender and delicate. like his mothers. "i'm right here Van..." Van gasped and slowly turned around. almost afraid o what he might see. "h-hitomi?" there stood the young girl from the mystic moon on his roof. she was wearing a nightdress and was enveloped in light. but what shocked him the most was... a tiny feather fell into his hands again. "hitomi... you have..." he backed up. "wings!" cried Mearl jumping out of nowhere. she lept onto the roof next to hitomi. hitomi just stood tall. her eyes almost glazed over. "wow!" cried Mearl. "you dont have to worry Lord Van! hitomis come back! and look!" mearl grabbed hold of one of her wings and began to shake it. "wings! wings! wait a minute.. wings?" Van stared up in amazment as Mearl began to dance around. "wow hitomi are you back for good?!" the light faded. Htomi let out a gasp and bgean to fall. her wings shot back into her back. Van flew up and caught her in his arms. "ahh hitomi!" cried Mearl leaping down. Van held her. her dress was ripped in the back confirming that what he and mearl saw was real. hitomi struggled to open her eyes. "van...? where am i...?" Van held her tight and began to walk into his room. "i'll go get her some blankets and a wet cloth!" cried Mearl walking out. "your safe hitomi... your with me now. in Gaea..." hitomi barely smiled up at him. thenn her eyes closed. "she's tired." he layed her in his bed and pulled the blankets up. Mearl soon came running with Allen close behind. Allen had been staying with Van for a short while now. Mearl tripped causing the blankets to fall. allen helped her up. "it's true!" he cried. "the girl from the mystic moon has returned." he stood next to Van and passed him the wet cloth Mearl had been carrying. Van placed it on hitomis forhead. "tell him Lord Van! tell Allen what hitomi has!" Cried Mearl. Allen looked at Van. he could tell van was till confused. "well...?" said Mearl. Van looked at Hitomi. "she has wings." Allen dropped the pail of water he had used to wet hitomis cloth.*************
Hitomis eyes barely opend. the sunlight streamed through the window. she could see a silhoutte of someone. "Va... Van?" she asked in a hushed voive. Van smiled and nodded. "yes. here drink this..." he placed some form of sour liquid in hitomis outh. "it taste bad but it will make you feel beter." hitomi groaned as the gross liqui drained down her thoat. she coughed almost sitting up. "take it easy." said Van. "you should rest now..." hitomi was still a little out of it. "what?" she asked feeling groggy again. "but.. but i.. have to find Van ..." she trailed off again. "i'm here hitomi." he said. "he must know... my.. secret..." she fell asleep. Van smiled and pulled up her blankets. he was happy she'd come back. and we was rally surprised about the wings. well wouldnt you be? he sat by her side watching her. he hadnt slept since she came. Allen walked in. "you should rest too Van." van shook his head. "ni Hitomi needs me. i'll rest when she wakes." allen let out a sigh. "i will be leaving for a little bit. i have togo back home.malerna is ready to have the baby." Van smiled up at him. "hitomi will be surprised at the news." allen laughed and smiled. "i dunno... this might be the hardest battle i've ever faught!" van laughed. just as soon as allen left mearl came. "how's hitomi?" she asked sitting by van. he smiled. "i think she'll be o-k." mearl smiled. "good. can you believe she has wings? why is that Lord Van...?" van looked at Mearl for a minute. "i.. i don't know." Mearl smiled. "gee! i wonder if she had them the last time she came! or if she just got them! or if she's always had them! wow that would have changed our whole adventures!" Van laughed. "calm down Mearl.. your confusing me." mearl smiled. "let me know when she wakes up. can you beliebe... she must be 17 or 18 by now!" Van laughed. "i know." mearl smiled and left.

it was later on that afternoon when hitomi awoke. the first thing she saw was Van asleep in a chair next to her. "did he wait with me this whole time?" she yawned and strechted. Mearl walked in. "htomi your awake!" she cried. that caused Van to wake up. "huh.. wha?" then he saw hitomis blue eyes smiling and shimmering at him. "your awake!" he jumped to her side. screw that! mearl jumped right on hitomis bed. "oh hitomi your poor dress is all ripped!" hitomi blushed. "i know..." mearl smiled. "oh well! you can borrow some of my clothes!" hitomi laughed. mearl was getting hyper, "i can't believe your back hitomi! how did you get back?" she asked. hitomi was silent. "to tell the truth i'm not quite sure. i just pictured seeing all of you again. and here i am." she smiled closing her eyes. Mearl grassped her hand. "oh wow! i'll go get thoes clothes right now!" she dashed out of the room. hitomi cocked her head. "i don't think i've ever seen Mearl move that fast." Van laughed. he'd been doing that alot lately. "she's just happy to see you." Hitomi blushed and she too shared a giggle. "Oh van! i've missed you... all of my friends.. so much." van smiled and nelt down. "you havent changed much." she smiled. "well you look a bit taller.. your hair seems to have grown out a bit." Hitomi laughed. "thankyou. you seem to have turned into a very nice looking young man!" Van laughed. his laugh almostshocked hitomi. but she found her self laughing too. "why are we laughing?" asked Van. "i don't know. prehaps where glad to see each other?" Van nodded. but then he stopped laughing. "but hiotmi... one thing i dont understand. why do you have wings?" htomi looked away. "i was hoping you could tell me..." Van was now silent. "all i know is that my mom told me i'm not really her daughter. that i apperad as an infant with wings threw a collum of light in her arms. that's all i know... i was hoping yo'd know." Van was evenmore silent. mearl walked in. "van... do you think that she could be...?" Van sighed. "mearl i think you better leave us alone for a minute." mearl noded and with a bow left. "well..?" asked hitomi. "hitomi... a long time ago. a baby was bron. she was the last female atlantien besides my mother. and after my mother died she was the last. Dorkerk was just establishing Zaibach back then. but he was afraid of this child. My parent sknew that she was the last atlantien so they made arangements for us to be wed when we turned 17. but then we learned she had a great power. a power to see visions and predict the future. Dornkerk found out about this too. so he kidnapped her and sent her to the only place she still be safe but be away from me.. the mysic moon." hitomi gasped. "are you saying..." Van continued. "i was a little suspicious when i first met you. you had the power to see visions.. and you came from the mystic moon. dornkerk was afraid that if we became to close we'd over throw him with some sort of power that you and i didnt even know about. you had every requirement... but no wings. thats part of the reason i didnt..." he stopped. "show my emotions. i knew that my one big goal in life was to find that girl. the princess of Gaea that i was to marry." hitomi was now very silent. suddenly her wings ripper through again. she sat their gripping her knees. Van turned to look at her. she had a blank expression like before. " i didnt know i had them... i found out one night when i was running. i wasnt just running. i running to escafpe my destiney. i couldnt stop. ijust kep running. then i jumped in the air... and their they were. reminding me of you." Van looked away. "am i the princess your searching for Van?" Van looked away. "i... i don't know." he turned to her. "is this why you came back to Gaea...?" hitomi sighed. "partly. i though you could help me... find out. " van starred at her. " partly?" he asked. Hitomi looked away. "i wanted to see you... again." Vans eyes widend just a little bit. "i relized how much i really missed you. i can't lie to myself." Van thought about when Hitomi went back to her world the first time. how mearl had helped him relize his feelings for her. how he missed her. and how happy he was to see her again. he couldnt let her slip through his fingers again. "hitomi... will you stay." hitomi looked at him with the same expression she gave the last time he had asked. "will you stay with me?" she htought back to the last time he had said he wanted her power... "stay with me forever...?" she was silent. she knew how this would end up. he wants her to stay so they could be invincable and no one would attack Gaea. "i.." Van gulped. he could do this. bny the door mearl is watching. bitting her nails. "go on Lord Van... you can do it..." Vans wings shot from his back ripping his shirt. he turned. "van wait!" cried hitomi. Van looked like he would leave. "i can't do it..." hitomi sighed. "do what?" she asked. Van was silent. "i just can't tell you..." htiomi frowned. "tell me what. is something wrong van? you can tell me! you can tell me anything!" her eyes began to fill up. "is something going to happen..." Van turned to face her. "i love you." he ran out of the room. hitomi just sat there stunned. "what...?" she asked. but Van was already gone. ****
"he's loved you since the begining" continued Mearl. Mearl had given hitomi a beautiful out fet to wear. a kinimo just like her grandmothers. hitomi was in Vans room still watching him. he wa outside feeding the horses. "but.. why?" she asked. "i frankly dont know. but there was something always holding him back. he loves you hitomi. it broke his heart when you kissed Allen. it broke his heart when you went back home. but he always kept it to himself. using that princess of Gaea thing as an excuse..." mearl smiled. "but you are the princess. you are a draconion." hitomi smiled. "yes... i suppose." mearls eyes watered up. hitomi felt sad. she reminded her so much of yukari. "but hitomi... do you love him?" hitomi looked away. "i... i'm not sure. i did. and i thought i did. i do. and i think i do... but somethings missing." mearl sighed. "please hitomi. i want Lord Van to be happy. go to him." Hitomi turned around and hugged Mearl. "thank you mearl... for beingmy best friend." both girls where in tears as hitomi sped off to find Van. *****
Van sat by the lake tossing pebbles in. skipping stones.. and watching ripels. suddenly he saw a young girls reflection. he turned. "oh it's you hitomi. hello." hitomi smiled and stood next to him. "what are you doing?" she asked trying to avoid the inetable. "being bored. i hate to say it but i miss using escaflowne." he tossed another stone. "i know what you mean. when i went home it's all i ever thought about. everyone but Yukari and ammano thought it was just a stroy or something i was working on. i actually wrote part of our adventures for an essay. i got an A." Van laughed. "wow i even had dreams that i'd come back here on christmas. it was so funny because i drempt of merarl in a santa suit." Van laughed again. hitomi was running out of things to say. "what about allen, malerna, and dryden." van skipped another stone. "well dryden went home and now has a project for saving mermaids, malerna and Allen were married... and are expecting a baby any day. Cheid is the proud ruler of a new country too." hitomi smiled. "wow a baby! can you just picture allen with a little boy hanging off him all the time?" tht did get a laugh out of Van. hitomi sat next to him and began to toss more stones. "i know why you came here hitomi..." said van not taking his eyes of the water. "oh?" asked a shocked Hitomi. "your trying to cheer me up." Hitomi blushed. "is it working?" Van smiled. "being around you always makes me happy. but i must apologize." hitomi blinked. "for what?" she asked. "for what i said earlier. i never stopped to concider your feelings. and i just want to say it's o-k if you don't love me. i mean your probally married to that Amano guy anyway." hitomi started to giggle. then laugh really hard. "what?" asked Van almost ofended. "i'm sorry Van. but married? to ammano? i'm only 17!" she began to laugh harder. "i dont get it. here people began to get married when they turn 15." hitomi tried to stop laughing. "but i spoze thats not how it works on the mystic moon." hitomi leaned on him for support and forced her self to stop laughing. she gasped for air. "nope." she smiled looking up at him. "i couldnt marry anyone." said hitomi. "oh?" asked van sounding a lil dry. "i mean how could i even think of marrying anyone when.." she faced Van. "i'm im in love with an Angel." she blushed. Van turned to face her. "an.. a-angel?" hitomi nodded pulling a feather out of no where. "i hope you dont mind.. but i kept this." van held it in his hands. "it a feather from me...?" he was even more confused. "yes. a feather from my angel." ohhhh now it was all crystal clear. "but.. does that mean...?" hitomi summond all her courage. "Van Slazer de Fanel... i love you too..." Van was shocked. very shocked. mearl who was watching from the window began to cry a little. "good for you hitomi." she said with a smile. and closed the windows. a million feelings began to run through Van. so many new feelings. hitomi stared up at him. he didnt really know what to do. but he felt so happy. he jumped up. hitomi backed up a bit. he picked her up and spun her around. she let out a happy cry. he set her down and stared into her blue eyes. "hitomi... will you rule this kingdom by my side? will you marry me?"hitomi didnt even take time to think. "yes." Van kissed her. no i wont put in a lot of detail because thats just what happened. the second hitomis lips finished saying yes.. they were met by Vans.
