The Gemini Swords Galaxy is the home of the Millennium War, a battle between two syndicate governments for control of the cosmos. It originated on a small world called Agios, but quickly escalated out of control from fighting over land to fighting over planets. One side is the democratic oligarchy, the Agioan Unification Guild, run by Commanders and Diplomats either elected into the position or inheriting it from their parent. The other is the monarchial Rubica Faction, run by the Godfather and his Generals beneath him. Over time, both sides have degenerated from fighting for the people to profiting for themselves: war is the greatest money making endeavor, after all.

To further complicate things is the recent introduction of a parallell universe dubbed the Nine Circles, an underworld where violent, human-hating demons are summoned through rituals to wreck havoc. Another danger to the galaxy is the development of WMDs: Weapons of Mass Destruction, capable of wiping out entire planets on the user's whim. These two factors have contributed to the war's out-of-control dynamic, and people fear the galaxy will be in ruins soon.

But the Millennium War is entering a new age where the latest generation refuses to contribute to this madness, generating a new breed of independent freelancers. Within this sad world of no heroes or role models, one brave girl turns her back to the Guild and ventures into the galaxy, expecting to wander around and find odd jobs while going against the governments: a true rebel without cause. What she doesn't know is that her journey will not only bring her against the governments, but also against the demons and WMDs, digging deep into the war's past until she uncovers a horrifying 1000-year old truth. She finds some allies, makes many enemies, and becomes a stronger fighter in the process.

Yet after all this, she's still missing one crucial thing: a purpose for doing all of this.
