episode 11

Usagi woke up late that morning, the birds chirping happily in the tree next to her open window. A squirrel scurried up the brick wall separating her house from the neighbor’s. Usagi smiled and walked downstairs in her oversized T-shirt and sweat pants. She sat on a high backed wooden chair, hugging her knees close to her body as she sipped a glass of orange juice and bit into a piece of toast. Usagi used this time to think of her next strategy. “It looks like I’m the only one who can defeat this guy...so I can’t use the power of numbers. Teamwork won’t work either...Hmm. But he’s alone too. We’re even. I guess we’re supposed to be...we’re to kill each other right? Oh, I don’t know.” Usagi pondered over her breakfast. She then got up abruptly and ran upstairs into her room. She sat on her bed and rolled up her sweatpants to her knees. Flinging open her closet, she started throwing clothes onto the floor until she found a white T-shirt. She changed quickly and sat in front of her mirror. Usagi laughed sarcastically. “Ha...last day I ever see myself, huh?” Instead of tying her hair in the usual double odango, she pulled all of her hair back into a large, messy bun. As she walked out of the house, she stopped in front of her large mirror. “I kinda like this look...” Usagi smiled at the mirror and walked out into the sunshine. She jogged to the park where the previous battle with the dragon had taken place, constantly looking behind her to prevent ambush. “I knew you’d find me.” growled the dragon. “I knew you were a smart one...” It hissed as it slithered closer to Usagi. She backed away, then regained her composure. Smirking, she tried to ignore the disgusting features of the revolting dragon. “Ultimate Moon Diamond Power!” She shouted with all her might. Silver moon power spilled over Usagi’s body, creating a beautiful dress and the imprint of a crescent moon on her chest. “Diamond Dust Shatter!” Usagi yelled out the first attack on the dragon. A large diamond appeared in the air above Sailor Moon, and she plucked it from the air and crushed it in her hand. Flinging the shard into the air, they suspended in midair, then gained momentum as they flew towards the dragon, cutting his skin and driving into his body. The dragon writhed, and with a prodigious yell, forced every bit of the shattered jewel out of his body. Spinning around, he whipped Sailor Moon’s unsuspecting legs with his strong tail. Her knees buckled and she fell to the ground on her knees. Seeing the chance, the dragon lashed out at her again with his tail, dealing her a blow to the side of her head. Usagi lifted herself off of the ground and glared dangerously at the dragon. Raising her hands to the sky, she accumulated energy and hurled it at the dragon who was caught off guard, and in turn, fell on its side with a loud thud. “Ugh...” the dragon responded. Scratching at the ground with its immense claws, the monster arose from the blood stained grass under him. The bruises on his side grew larger and was dyed a dark red where the skin had ripped. Sailor Moon and her adversary were both nearing death, as they barely stood, panting. Usagi collapsed, her legs no longer containing the strength to hold her up. The dragon closed his scaly, bulging eyes as it focuses its energy wile Usagi tried to pick herself up. A dark beam of energy gathered speed as it left the dragon’s forehead. Usagi felt herself double over as the beam hit her solidly in the gut. The force of the beam kept her upright although she felt herself losing strength. The pain spread all through her body and her knees buckled under the tremendous pain. Usagi could feel her life leaving her, and she saw memories and scenes flash by her in an instant. She suddenly panicked. “No...I can’t let this happen!” With every bit of energy she could muster from her exhausted being, Sailor Moon forced the dark beam to its source. With her remaining strength, she prepared for one last attack to finish off the exhausted enemy. “Diamond Sparkle Justice!” The attack was weak, and Usagi fainted while attacking, causing the flying diamonds to scatter and miss their initial target. The dragon fell from weariness and said what he thought would be his last words. “I have destroyed the last force of good in this universe..” He whispered hoarsely. “After many millennia, evil has triumphed one and for all. And I, Nuon, was the one who did it.” He hissed. A diabolical grin took over his face and a devilish laugh filled the crisp air. All throughout the world, a presence of darkness could be sensed. A red flare surrounded him, and Nuon was swallowed up in the aura. Usagi couldn’t open her eyes, but she heard the laugh of Nuon. “Not...dead? Both of us..?” She wondered. Usagi’s soul was lifted from her body and suddenly Usagi could see through her closed eyes. Before her stood Mamoru. “Mamo chan!” Usagi’s blue eyes filled with tears. “Usako...” He whispered. Mamoru smiled at Usagi, and she tried to move closer to her love, but her course did not permit her to do so. “I love you.” Mamoru smiled again as Usagi drifted away. Next, she saw Luna, Artemis, Diana, and the Guardian. “Usagi!” Luna shouted. “Good Luck.” Guardian told Usagi. “Aren’t I...dead?” she thought. “I don’t understand...what good does luck do to a dead princess?” As Usagi traveled on, her beloved senshi came into view. “Princess!” They gasped. “Hello.” Usagi smiled sincerely. Before she could open her mouth to speak again, Usagi was interrupted by a deep voice unfamiliar to her ears. “Princess Serenity, you are not yet dead. You stand in the medium between life and death.” Sailor Moon looked up towards the voice. “These beings were summoned here in order to help fulfill the destiny of the universe. Nuon, the possessor of the dragon has not been destroyed. You must return to destroy the last evil that lurks upon this universe. “But I thought I was not even alive!” Usagi looked confused. “You are...in a way. The only way you can defeat Nuon is to take and use the power of the rest of the senshi. They must sacrifice themselves for you and for the world.” The voice said. As Usagi stood in shock, she heard Hotaru’s soft voice. “We’re ready.” She said, looking at the senshi and nodding. “But, Hotaru! You can’t do that! You’ll all die if I take your powers!” “We’re already dead, Usagi...” Minako said, staring her in the eye. “Usagi, if you do not use the powers, everyone will perish and be destroyed. Not even will they exist in the afterlife, past, or future.” “What If I can defeat him alone? Without help? Then won’t you still be here?” Usagi asked in desperation at saving the lives of her friends. She could not bear to think that she would have to take her best friend’s powers and use them, knowing that she had just stripped the world of their existence. “That is impossible, Serenity! Do you not remember you are half dead?” The voice scolded. Usagi looked pitifully at her senshi, the eight girls who had been by her side for as long as she could remember. They all gave her a reassuring stare. “...Ok. I’ll do it. I’m sorry, senshi...But I just remembered our promise.” Usagi said quietly, tears streaming from her eyes. “We promised...we would protect the world with our lives. I think the time has come for us to keep that promise.” “Good.” The voice said. The senshi lifted their right hands and focused their energy. The planetary jewels dislocated and floated up to their outstretched hands. The senshi forced the jewels upwards until they met and bonded. A crown made of jewels appeared in the place of the eight single jewels. It floated to its owner, Usagi, and rested in her palms. At first, she just stared at its immense beauty, gaping in awe. As she stared, confidence rose in her heart. “I ask for the spirit of the eight planets to join with the spirit of the moon. Essence of the astrals, take me to the ninth power!” Usagi lifted the crown high above her head and let it float down to her head. The instant the crown set itself on Usagi’s head, colors flashed, and the senshi vanished. Several transformations took place. Usagi’s skirt turned a sheer yellow, and her top changed from white to gold. Crimson jewels adorned the waist of her dress. A scepter appeared in her hands made of silver, with green jewels at the end. Purple jewels spiraled down the extent of the staff, and a rich black necklace rested upon Usagi’s collarbones. White light shone all around her collapsed body back on Earth, and suddenly sprang to life. The new Usagi rose up and faced the dragon with new life and strength. “Universal Obliteration!” The mountains awoke to her voice, and lent her all its ice and snow. With a huge roar, a colossal avalanche headed down to Usagi. Volcanoes spilled its fire to the command of their Princess. The skies cracked as thunder sent from above lit the earth. Inanimate objects melted as time was stopped, stretched, and distorted. In a flash of dark green light, time joined forces with ice, fire, and thunder. The oceans rose and a flood headed towards the battle site. Clouds traveled downwards and engulfed the waters, carrying them further towards Usagi. Blackness of death arose from the ground and compressed, creating the core of the mammoth attack. Love from hearts all around the universe held the attack together. Usagi spread her arms wide, sending forth the strongest attack ever used. As the attack sailed towards Nuon, the whole universe turned against him, writing in disgust. Nuon fell under the pressure, and was killed by all forces possible. Usagi vanished, the attack had drained all life from her. Nuon’s spirit fluttered away and disintegrated, and the body burst into flames and became nought but ashes. The moment all good and evil was destroyed, the universe collapsed on itself, compressing faster and faster until nothing existed any longer. There was not a presence, a breath that existed any longer, not a planet or star was in sight. But from those dark abysses and the depths of nothingness arose a new power, a new force forged from the oblivion of the pristine universe.
