The Registrar for the NZDGBA is Kath Barber. Once you are a member of the association you may wish to register goats bred by you. To do this you will firstly need some Application to Register cards. These are free to members so just contact me if you need any. Phone (09)433 9647, write to 34 Matheson Road, R D 4, Hikurangi, or email jkbarber@ihug.co.nz.
HOW TO FILL IN THE APPLICATION TO REGISTER CARDS
Name: PRINT your prefix and then your goat’s name - check your records carefully
to make sure the name hasn’t been used before. If you haven’t got good records then
I can send you a list of all names that have been used with your prefix ($1 a page).
Names can never be reused, not even if the goat is dead or deregistered.
Date of Birth: To be written as DD/MM/YYYY, ie 24/08/1999
Tattoos R.E: Your registered 3 letter tattoo
Tattoos L.E: Your goat’s tattoo
Next circle what applies.
Don’t forget to fill in the back for AI and contact me for forms for ET.
Sire and Dam: PRINT sire and dam’s prefix and name carefully. Check spelling and
spaces between words on original registration. Make sure Reg No. is correct.
Signature - you are signing to declare the goat has no disqualifying faults. If the
goat does have disqualifying faults then record that information here and the goat will
be put on Recorded Grade unless I have received written correpondence in regard to
putting a herd register goat on experimental.
Breeders Name - to be PRINTED in exactly the same format as your membership
card. If your registered membership is in the name of CITIZEN J M then do not
write in here John and Susan Citizen.
Tattooing - Clip here with tattoo pliers - DO NOT WRITE A THING IN THIS
FIELD. It is very hard to check the tattoos are correct if there is writing all over it. If
you make a mistake, do another card!
Over the back:
Only fill in the Service Certificate of the Dam if you are NOT the owner or lessee of
the buck.
Don’t forget if you filled in AI on the front then you must supply the information on
the back.
Extra tips:
Don’t get tattoo ink everywhere.
Don’t ever staple 2 registration cards together - each registration must stand alone.
So now all you have to do is write a cheque and bundle up the cards with a rubber
band and put the cheque and a quick breakdown on the top and send them off.
Remember if you do everything right then your registrations will be back in a day or
two.
