Classification

Classification is a system of giving goats a score accordingly to how they compare to the ideal. The actual classifying is done by a team of classifiers who score each animal on a sheet.
Classifiers for the 2001 year will be James Simpson and Margaret Prattley in the South Island and Victoria Sabin Moss and Margaret Prattley in the North Island.
The North Island Classification tour will take place during early December (definate dates will be advised later).
The South Island Classification tour will take place during early December (definate dates will be advised later).

Once classified the scores will be entered into the computer and will be printed in the Herd Book. The final scores will also be printed on the pedigree of the goat classified and on all future progenies pedigrees.

Goats over 6 years of age and classifying over 90 have obtained an Excellent classification.
Goats over 8 years of age and classifying over 90 have obtained an Excellent 1 classification.
Goats over 10 years of age and classifying over 90 have obtained an Excellent 2 classification.
Goats over 12 years of age and classifying over 90 have obtained an Excellent 3 classification.
