Duo watched Heero and Relena then turned back to Quatre with an exasperated and confused look on his face. "How-er…huh, what? Why?" At a complete loss for words, the long haired boy simply pointed to the couple and whined. Quatre looked up at him and shrugged.
"Don’t ask me, Duo" He said as he picked up a newspaper sitting nearby. "I have no idea."
Duo sighed and walked to the big window at the front of the building. He stared out of it, watching as Heero and Relena got into Relena’s pink limousine and drove away. He watched the car until it disappeared, then walked back to Quatre and sank into the closest chair. "That’s not fair," Duo whined. The Arabian sighed and rolled his eyes, mentally plugging his ears to prevent from hearing the onslaught of rambling that was soon to be coming from Duo’s mouth.
"Why in the heck would Heero go somewhere with Relena?" Duo questioned in his normal loud tone. "Relena Peacecraft of all people! He hates her! He wants to kill her! But wait, he would have killed her in our room before if he was gonna kill her now. And why is he dressed nice? Something’s not right there…Hey, maybe it’s not Relena and it’s some agent for OZ who brainwashed Heero and now is kidnapping him and is gonna make him do really evil things!! No, that’s not really logical. Heero would have figured that out…Maybe Relena’s working for OZ and she’s taking him back to one of their bases for interrogation…Or worse, maybe Relena wants Heero to marry her! Or—"
"Duo will you please SHUT THE HELL UP!" Quatre finally shouted. Every person in the lounge froze in whatever action they were doing and turned and looked wide eyed at the small blond haired boy sitting in the chair, who had now turned a very deep red. Duo smirked as Quatre opened his mouth to apologize. "Gomen nasai, Duo." He said almost in a whispering voice. "I…I didn’t mean to yell…"
"No problem, Q-man." Duo said with a very fake smile. He really hadn’t cared that Quatre had yelled at him, and if his mind hadn’t been so stuck on what he would do to the ‘psycho hose beast’ when he got a hold of her, it would have been funny. He opened his mouth to talk again, but he noticed Sandrock’s pilot staring across the room, his eyes completely transfixed on something. Duo looked over and noticed Trowa Barton, who had just come down the stairs. Trowa saw the two other pilots right away and walked towards them. Quatre was still staring at him, only now he seemed to have a deep blushing look on his face. Duo smirked a little as the brown haired, green-eyed boy sat down next to Quatre. At least he could conceal the fact that he was madly in love with Heero, but there was no way Quatre could hide his love for Trowa.
"Hi, Trowa." Quatre choked softly as Trowa sat down.
"Hey, Quatre." Trowa returned, picking up a magazine and not even looking up.
Duo stood up, giving Quatre a slight wink as he did so. "I’m gonna go find someone else to bother. See you two later." He walked up the stairs to Wufei’s room. After all, Duo thought, he’d have to be over the textbooks in the toilet incident by now…
Duo didn’t bother to knock on the Chinese boy’s door. He just walked right in, which turned out to be a big mistake. As soon as he stepped inside, Wufei tackled him from behind and pinned him to the floor. It was a few moments before Nataku’s pilot let up, realizing whom he had just attacked. "Eh, Duo?" He said in a surprised tone. "What are you doing in here?"
"I was bored Wu-man." Duo coughed as Wufei let him go.
"Not this time, Maxwell. I’ve hidden my textbooks where you’ll never find them."
"Oh." Duo sighed. "Darn. Hey, do you know where does Heero keep his textbooks?"
"How should I know?" Wufei said as he picked up some books and stuffed them into his bookbag on his desk. "He’s your room mate. I figured you went after my stuff because you had already destroyed all of his."
Duo shook his head as he plopped down on Wufei’s bed, letting his legs dangle over one side and his braid dangle over the other. "Iie, Wu. He’s too secretive. I can’t get into anything that’s his. Even his bookbag has a time lock on it."
Wufei picked up a notebook and pen that had been lying next to the American and sat down in a chair by his desk. "Speaking of the Perfect Soldier," Wufei said sarcastically as he began to write in the notebook. "Where is he? I figured he was going to kill you by the time I left."
"He just left…" Duo paused to compose himself, feeling the urge to rip apart anything that crossed his path. He clenched his teeth tightly and forced out the rest of his statement, just barely managing not to swear. "With Relena."
"Very funny." The Chinese boy returned with a dry laugh. "What’s he doing, trying to piss you off? We all know how much you hate Relena."
Duo suddenly bolted upright. ~That’s it!~ He thought to himself! ~Heero’s mad at me for what I did before…whatever that was…and he’s getting back at me by going out with Relena!~
Then Duo got an idea. Duo got a wonderful, awful idea. After his head stopped hurting from the strain of thinking, he thought, ~Two can play at this game, Hee-chan.~ and chuckled softly.
"Hey, Wufei," The braided pilot said with a wide smile. "Wanna go out to dinner? My treat."
"With you, Maxwell?" Wufei laughed. "Yeah, right."
"Please?" Duo said with his adorable smile. "To make up for pulling that prank on you before…"
Wufei shook his head, but Duo kept talking and trying to convince him until the Chinese pilot could not take it anymore. "ALRIGHT Duo!" He shouted. "I’ll GO! Just please SHUT UP!"
Duo stared at him blankly for a moment, and then beamed. "Yay!" He clapped his hands together and laughed. ~All I have to do is make sure Heero sees us, then he’ll be so damn mad…~ The ever-hyper American leapt off of Wufei’s bed and grabbed him by the arm and dragged him down the stairs. "Let’s go, Wu-man." Duo said excitedly.
Wufei rolled his eyes as he allowed the braided pilot to haul him outside. "Baka." He murmured as they began walking down the street. "Where are we going?" He asked as they began walking down the sidewalk.
"There’s a nice pizza place close by." Duo said. "Let’s go there."
Wufei sighed and shook is head. "Cheap, lazy Americans." He muttered to himself.
A few blocks away from the school, Duo noticed a pink limousine stuck in a large traffic jam. He looked at it as he walked, trying to somehow see Heero through the tinted windows.
Heero managed to escape Relena relentlessly clinging to is arm long enough to look out the window and notice a braided boy dressed like a priest walking with a Chinese boy all dressed in white. ~Duo and Wufei!~ He thought in alarm. ~What the hell are they doing together?!~ He realized Duo was staring at him as he walked along. The Japanese boy narrowed his eyes as he watched Duo. Maybe his earlier suspicions were right. Duo and Wufei were…together. ~No way!~ Heero thought. ~It can’t be! Duo and I are…~
He looked out the window again…Just in time to see Duo, who was still staring at him, walk into a telephone pole.
At the same time, Heero and Wufei shook their heads and the same word crossed both their mouths.
"Baka."
