The Kagetai Home

Name: Mitsuki Seijun
Birthdate: January 17, 1862
Height: 5'5"

Appearance:

Has jet-black hair and blue grey eyes. Her hair is usually tied back in a high ponytail, and often wears a mask. She wears a Chinese style of clothing, which is loose-fitting. She wears her yari strapped on her back (it has a sheath too!) and is armed with five-point shurikens and smoke bombs, as well.

Background:

In January 17, Mitsuki is born to the Josui family in Northern Japan. For the first three years of her life, her life was stable, with a loving family. Her parents were farmers, working hard to tend their fields. Then the government forced them off their land, saying it was claimed by a foreigner. So they left their home in search of another. Suguri Josui (her father) decided that they would return to their original home in Kyoto.

However on the way, they ran out of food. They became half-starved living off the pity of other travelers and sometimes stealing from other fields. When they arrived in Kyoto her father was forced to steal food for them but was caught and thrown in prison. Her mother and two older brothers decided to go to work in order to support them until their father could return.

However just after a year of living in Kyoto, disaster struck. They were on their way to visit their father when a gang of robbers came upon them. Her two brothers were killed when they tried to protect Mitsuki and their mother, Kamome. The robbers took Mitsuki and her mother to their camp, and raped her mother while young Mitsuki was forced to watch. For six months she and her mother were kept by the robbers, her mother used as their whore. Finally one night the robbers got drunk and Kamome ran away with Mitsuki. However the robbers took pursuit and Kamome was able to put Mitsuki in front of a Buddhist temple before the robbers overtook her.

Mitsuki never saw her mother ever again. The Buddhists in the temple raised her and taught her that life wasn't always so terrible. They taught her kindness and caring, lessons, which would inspire her in her wish to help the innocent. However, fate seemed to have marked her as unlucky when bandits came and attacked the temple. She was able to escape and was secreted in a cart going towards Edo. She still remembered the lessons she learned from the Buddhists and decided that she would follow those lessons, to protect the weak.

For a year she went into training at a dojo, working there as a servant to pay for her food and shelter and lessons. However she did not use a katana for a weapon. Keeping in mind the lessons she learned and the experiences she had, she developed her own creed. "Do not kill needlessly," She was realistic enough, after what happened to her, to realize that sometimes violence was needed, but being respectful of life, she followed this and chose the yari (spear) as her weapon. She was able to master this weapon quickly (beginner type of weapon) and developed her own style eventually. She learned of a newly founded group called the Kagetai and decided that this may be the proper group for her to fulfill what she believed was her mission in life.

She confronted Saitou and informed him that she wanted to join. At first Saitou was unwilling (she's a runt and rather young, and obviously was an idealistic idiot) but she was able to convince him (read "Muzai Nakunaru" for their dialogue it's intended to be Mitsuki's bio, but all I'm including will be the dialogue and story of her confrontation with Saitou and how she vanished.) Not because she really convinced him that she would be able to help, but because he knew she might end up doing something stupid on her own. But afterwards under the tutelage of other Kagetai members, she was able to get better at her fighting skills.

On one particular mission, she was ambushed and disappeared, and was written down as MIA. For a few years she was still missing and then she suddenly returns, totally different and completely devoid of her old personality and ideals. Something had changed within her for those years she had disappeared.

Personality:

Before she went missing, Mitsuki was a very cheerful person. A staunch believer in her creed, she was an idealist who believed in the goodness of others, often putting herself and Saitou against each other, in their difference of opinions. But suddenly she disappeared and when she returned she was completely cynical and not like the Mitsuki she once was. Back then, she always had a kind word for everyone, but now she does not hesitate to put down other people.

Likes:

Being left alone writing out her thoughts, a good challenge and making fun of people

Dislikes:

Arrogance, bad smells, and stupid people

Rivals:

No rivals since she disappeared for awhile and hasn't had enough time to know the Kenshingumi herself. Although she has said that she would like to go up against Kamatari, Misao or Kaoru.
