The Kagetai HomeName: Kuraisóra ManjiBirthdate: August 31, 1845 Height: 5'11" Weight: 135 lbs Appearance: Appears to be scrawny and weak, but as some have found out, size does not matter. With his short brown hair and calm eyes, he has the features that make it easy to blend into any crowd. He is seldom seen without a headband, which is of significant value to him. He also has a large scar across his right shoulder, a "present" from a past fight. Background: Born in an obscure village in Northern Japan, Manji has never known an easy life. Since the age of 7, he has practiced to become a master fighter, unlike his father, who he saw as a lowly fisherman. At the age of 12, he left his home and ventured out on his own. After coming across a band of thieves, he was beaten and robbed of his possessions and barely managed to escape with his life. After crawling deep into the woods, he slowly healed and managed to live the life of an outcast. Traveling around for 4 year, he learned to fend for himself, and soon becoming a formidable street fighter. However, one day he got into a fight with the wrong person, and quickly found out that mere fists were no match for a sword. Stealing some cloth from a near-by vendor, he managed to bandage himself up, and fashioned a headband to remind himself to always make himself stronger. So he set out, with his newly acquired scar, and found a family willing to teach him the skills necessary to wield a sword. By 1863, he had mastered the Mutenichi-Ryu style of swordsmanship. Now at the age of 18, he had the skills that he had always dreamed of, but no reason to use them. That was however, until he had a chance meeting with the Shinsengumi. While wandering through Kyoto, he haplessly stumbled across a few members of the Shinsengumi. Drunken and confident, one man provoked Manji to fight, which was a grave mistake. The man was beaten effortlessly by Manji, and Manji fled in order to avoid a brawl with the remaining Shinsengumi. Two days later, he was summoned by Saitou Hajime to become a member of the Shinsengumi Kagetai. Overjoyed to finally have a use for his skills, he happily joined up with the group. With his ability to effortlessly blend in anywhere, he is one of the Shinsengumi Kagetai's most valuable spies. Personality: An openly happy person, he has no problem expressing his feeling to anyone.Slightly insecure, he is always cautious in making impressions. He is constantly joking someone, which usually gets him into trouble. However, when it comes time to back his words up, he does not hesitate to strike swiftly and violently in order to prove his point. Likes: Joking people, a good fight, women, night time, rain, shadows, well crafted weapons, and the way "Aku. Soku. Zan." sounds. Dislikes: People with no sense of humor, unjust and dishonorable acts, being seen not fully dressed, people thinking badly of him, and anyone messing with his headband. Rivals: Regard Sanosuke Sagara as the greatest fighter, and someday hopes for the chance to fight him. Current sketch: Rents a small apartment not far from the gambling hall in Kyoto, and barely manages to avoid the landlord for payment. Currently has no family ties or any type or relationship, as he never seems to have the time (or the money). |
