Skuld’s Nightmare Ended Written By Leonardo Castro Story – Prologue Skuld was holding Valdon’s hand above the rift, gripping as hard as she could. Her other hand holding on to a rock ledge that prevented them from falling in. She wished she could use her goddess powers, but she couldn’t. The rift drained all forms of magic. As she and Valdon hang there, an assortment of Gods and Goddesses rush to their rescue. Unfortunately, Skuld hold on the rock was slipping. She had three fingers on the ledge. Valdon saw this and did what he thought was honorable and good. He broke free from Skuld’s hold and fell into the rift. Skuld scream in horror as Valdon plunged into the swirling rift and didn’t surface. She stared at the swirling rift for a few seconds. Then she tried to jump in. Fortunately or unfortunately, depends on the person’s point of view, Belldandy and Urd grabbed her hand that was on the ledge. Skuld try to break free but failed. Soon the other gods and goddess grabbed her and pulled her up. She tried to break free of their grasps and jump back in the swirling rift, but she couldn’t. Eventually, a war god knocked her out to prevent her from ending her existence. Skuld woke up screaming. Her blood-curling scream woke up the whole neighborhood. Urd and Belldandy were there, already comforting. Nineteen years did little dull a goddess’s nightmare become reality especially on the anniversary of that nightmare. Skuld’s screams soon turn into tears. She clung to Belldandy and cried into her shirt. “Every night, I wake up and realized he not sleeping next to me and I know it my fault. Stupid magic, stupid useless magic.” Skuld cried. Usually Urd would snap if Skuld said that last remark. But not today: not on the thirty of August. The Anniversary the day Skuld rejected her magic and threw everything she knew into science. The anniversary when Skuld’s magic failed. For Skuld’s sake, Urd hope this one time that science will succeed where magic has failed. Maybe then Skuld’s living nightmare will end. Later, at the Tendo Dojo… “Boy I got a job for you.” Genma bellowed. Ranma paused and then shot a glare at his father. “What is it this time, Pops. Last time all those Americans were chasing after us.” Ranma said fuming as he remembered his last job. “How should I known those were terrorist we were working with?” Genma asked. He really didn’t know. “Probably when they asked me to built a huge bomb could have been a clue you idiot.” Ranma huffed. “And you did it too. Without that plutonium they were getting for us.” Genma said. He didn’t know what that mean, but the terrorists paid them extra and offer to buy Ranma from him. Lucky for him that Ranma will never know that he did sold him to the terrorists. “I was eight years old. How can you let a eight year old built bombs.” Ranma asked. “You were doing it before we met them. You did blow up that house the terrorists were aiming at.” Genma said. “You threw the bombs into that house thinking it was marbles. IT NOT MY FAULT YOU IDIOT.” Ranma yelled as he lunged at his father. After a ten minutes beat up the panda session, Ranma learned he was going to work in restoring items. His first assignment was to fix some poor sap’s bike. Keiichi was concern. He knew it was “the day” that Belldandy and Urd had told him about. This being the second time it happen. Thankfully, he and the neighborhood invested in earplugs. Keiichi didn’t like to see any of the goddesses sad. And, by the way Skuld looked, she might have hanged herself at the end of the day. That’s why he totaled his motorbike on purpose. He thought if Skuld got to do those weird experiments on his motorcycle and somewhat fix it, then she will be no longer depressed. But that back fire. Now Skuld was depressed and he no longer had a motorcycle. He was a having an expert checking on it. He what to find out how long it would take to repair it. And Skuld added some fancy enhancements and parts to his motorcycle, he didn’t recognized them. He hope that it was foreign motorcycle parts, and the expert would recognized them. “Hello. Is anyone home?” Ranma called out in front of the temple. What kind of people lives in an old temple, Ranma wondered? A young lady opened the door. He felt that he met her somewhere. “Hello, I am Ranma Saotome. I’m here to see about a bike problem.” Ranma said as he remembered we he was. Belldandy looked at the mortal in front of her. He had a familiar presence she hadn’t few in quite a while. It was as if she knew him somewhere. “Hello, I am Ranma Saotome. I’m here to see about a bike problem.” The young pigtailed man said. Belldandy blinked twice before realizing she was being rude. “Hello, I’m Belldandy. Please come in Mr. Saotome.” “Please, just call me Ranma. My baka lazy panda father is Mr. Saotome.” Saotome said with a smirk. Keiichi was sitting by his motorcycle when Belldandy came in with the machine expert. “Hi, I’m Ranma. So this is the problem.” The expert said. “I’ll have it fixed in no time.” Ranma said after studying the remains of Keiichi’s motorcycle. Keiichi looked at the parts of his bike. No way this going to be fixed anytime soon, he thought. He looked back at Ranma and saw the pigtail youth pull a tool box out of thin air and leaped upon the remains of Keiichi’s bike. A dust cloud developed around Ranma and Keiichi’s bike. The sounds of metal clanging against metal, and screws being driven in. Keiichi noticed a stray hand reaching out of the dust cloud, searching for something. The hand latch onto some components that Skuld had left lying around. Keiichi was about to say something when he caught the look on Skuld’s face. She was looking at Ranma in surprise, then of pure joy. Skuld whipped out a weird high-tech laptop that Keiichi never seen before and started to type at neck breaking speed. That when Ranma finished. Keiichi noticed two things wrong. It had no wheels on the motorcycle and it was hovering a good three feet off the ground. “One hovercycle fixed and ready for action.” Ranma said. He felt proud of himself now. Lucky that he saw how one of these looked like from one of Hiroshi’s manga, Ranma thought to himself. “Um. It was a motorcycle, not a hovercycle. I don’t think those exist on Earth yet.” Keiichi said. Keiichi briefly wonder if he accidentally called Heaven again. Ranma looked embarrassed. “Free upgrade.” Ranma said. Then Keiichi look towards Skuld to see her reaction to a normal guy doing same things she does. He was surprise at what he saw. Skuld looking at Ranma in joy with tears brimming at her eyes. She mouth the word, “Valdon.” To be continued… Let winged Angels guide your comments to me. Leonardo83105206@aol.com LOS2000@slayersrpg.com http://www.angelfire.com/anime2/Animefanfiction/index.html
