Ami Transforms into the Brilliant Fighter, Sailor Mercury. Ami is the brains behind the Sailor Senshies and thus was given a pocket computer and virtual reality (VR) visor by Luna to enhance her natural talents. Although Ami is naturally intelligent, she must study very hard to maintain her near-perfect grades in school, and her position as the best student is Japan. Ami transferred to eighth grade at Crossroads Junior High (Usagi's school) from the "brain farm", Brighton Acadamy, and frequently attends additional schooling in the evenings at the "Albert Einstein School for the Gifted" (referred to as juku in Japan). Ami once furned sown an opportunity to study abroad in Germany, in order to stay with her Sailor friends. Ami wears eye glasses while reading, has an uncanny talent for video games, and has great affection for the third Rainbow Crystal carrier, Greg. Ami understands better that anyone that Usagi is not just Sailor Moon, but a young and emotional teenage girl.
Ami's mother (a pediatrician) and father (an artist) are separated. She lives with her mother in Azbu Juuban and hopes to follow in her footsteps by also becoming a doctor.
