Makoto is a normal Teenager. Until one night when he is being chased around his school and everything freezes. He walks around his school into the ruins resently found under his school. There he meets a strange girl and is sent to another world known as El Hazard. His three "friends" are sent as well. Makoto runs into a Princess there and it is reveiled that he looks like her missing sister. Makoto is suckered into dressing as Fatora until she is found.
Ifurita is a strange soul. It takes a long time to finally understand her. She is the most powerful Demon God in all of El Hazard. She can reporduce and attack she sees used. She grows stronger with every attack. She is the one that send Makoto to El Hazard.
Mr. Fujisawa is the three kids teacher from the highschool. He was working the night shift and got sent to El Hazard along with the others. When he came to El Hazard, he gained strength when he doesn't drink or smoke. Though, this is very hard for him to do. Miz falls in love with him but he isn't to sure about her...
Nanami is a money-hungry girl. She was at the school late that night selling food to Mr. Fujisawa. She ended up in a town far away from the others. She meets up with them at the springs. She gains the power to see through illustions. She loves Makoto but says she doesn't have time to get into a relationship and they haven't "discused it".
Jinnai is Makoto's arch enemy...well, to himself. He thinks Makoto is out to get him. So, Jinnai give Makoto a letter from Nanami (who happens to be Jinnai's sister) to meet her after school. Makoto goes to meet her and find Jinnai. Jinnai begins to change until he freezes. Jinnai is sent to El Hazard as well.
