Tribute to Gohan
Dragon Ball Z Summary
When Raditz arrives on Earth at the beginning of DBZ, he takes Gohan
hostage
to provoke Goku to return to his Saiyan heritage of treachery. Goku
refuses
and the combined efforts of Piccolo and Goku cannot stop Raditz. Gohan
hears
his father's cries for mercy and jumps into action. Again using his
signature head-butt, he severely wounds Raditz but forgets what
happened when
his father has returned to safety. Luckily Piccolo manages to kill him
and
Goku (well, that proves to be fortunate later). With Goku out of the
picture, Piccolo seizes the chance to hang with Gohan for a year,
giving them
just enough time to train for the arrival of the bigger, badder Saiyan
Nappa
and his little tag-along Vegeta.
After rigorous training in the wildernes, Gohan boosts his resting
power
level to over 2000, about equivalent to that of Piccolo. The fighting
begins
as the warriors arrive on Earth. Unfortunately Goku, who had been
training
on King Kai's planet, has not yet arrived on the scene. At the age of
5,
Gohan is pretty tramatized through the fighting and doesn't contribute
too
much. All of the warriors struggle with Nappa as Vegeta lazily wiats
on the
side-lines. Nappa, out of rage and possibly confusion, attacks Gohan,
but
Piccolo jumps in the way to save him, killing himself. By now, Tien,
Choa
Zu, and Yamcha are all dead as well. Krillin and Gohan are overjoyed
by the
arrival of Goku shortly after. Goku beats up Nappa, but Vegeta does
him in
like the scavenger he is. Now it's down to Goku and Vegeta. The
fighting is
intense, and though Vegeta gains the upper hand eventually, Gohan
springs
into action as a HUGE MONKEY and pummels Vegeta, who doesn't last much
longer
as Gohan overpowers him in every aspect. Vegeta has been defeated and
Krillin has the right idea, but Goku requests that his life be spared
(Goku
was probably on crack at the time).
Because of Piccolo's death, the Dragon Balls have vanished and a quest
for
Namek is set (to use bigger better balls). Gohan, Bulma, and Krillin
are
sent out. Through numerous treacheries the team prevails and makes it
to the
real Namek (as opposed to the fake Namek episodes that were created as
a time
filler). Freeza and Vegeta are both searching for the Dragon balls as
well
(though not together). Krillin and Gohan collect some Dragon Balls as
does
Freeza and Vegeta. The balls are exchanged all over the place but in
the end
nobody knows how to use them but the Nameks, most of which are dead.
Gohan
and Krillin are gaining strength the whole time but generally avoid
fighting.
Eventually, Krillin and Gohan steal all of the Dragon balls from
Freeza but
don't have time to use tem until the Ginyu Force is taken care of.
Nobody
can even defeat Rakoom at this point in time; Gohan even fails after
Vegeta
was taught a lesson or two. Goku luckily arrives on the sceneand cures
everyone with his stash (of senzu beans). He takes out Rakoom and the
rest
of the Ginyu force with little to no effort but is injured by the
malicious
Captain Ginyu. Gohan and Krillin summon the Dragon to bring back
PIccolo,
but after that Freeza finds them and the big fight starts. Vegeta
volunteers
first, but his cocky ass is wiped all over the floor, unfortunately,
he's the
best they have at the time. Krillin was intended to be killed but
Gohan
steps in just in time to buy some time for Dende to heal him. Gohan
blasts
Freeza with rapid fire followed by a staggering Masenko. The blows are
the
most damage Freeza has seen yet. Vegeta is quoted in saying, "He's
closer to
becoming a Super Saiyan than any of us!" Piccolo soon arrives to
further
beat Freeza to a pulp and the tyrant soon transforms again. Vegeta is
severely injured by a forceful blast from Krillin, but lucky for him
Dende
hears his pitiful cries for mercy and his life is preserved....for a
few more
episodes. Freeza transforms again soon after and chokes Vegeta with
his
powerful tail and repeatedly punches him in the stomach. Blood runs
from his
mouth as the life drains from his limp body. Goku soon arrives to
avenge his
death, of course this is all much more believable in the Japanese
version of
the show than the American, and shocks Freeza with his overwhelming
power.
Through many trial and tribulations the fight comes to a brief recess
(after
a massive Genki Dama--aka spirit bomb). Freeza, thought to have been
destroyed, kills Krillin and enfuriates Goku who's power erupts and
causes
the ultimate transformation into a Super Saiyan. Gohan is ordered to
leave
with Piccolo and Goku and Freeza continue to fight. From here on out
Gohan
is out of the picture for the most part (though nobody has played a big
part
since the arrival of Goku). After a lot of fighting the planet is
destroyed
and everyone returned to Earth except Goku and Freeza. Goku is trapped
in
space and Freeza presumed dead (this is around 10 episodes but only 5
minutes
or so in DBZ time).
Back on Earth there is a time of peace, so Chi Chigets on Gohan to
study (go
figure). There is a small mini-plot time filler here called the Garlic
Jr.
saga. If it weren't for Gohan being the star, this would be totally
useless.
Basically Garlic Jr. (who we know from movie one. Gohan imprisoned
him in
the Dead Zone that he created (he didn't die because he already wished
for
immortality)) covers the world with Black water mist (makes people evil
zombies that worship him) and tries to become Kami (God). Mr. Popo
and kami
are saved by Gohan, Krillin, and Piccolo who were luckily not effected
by the
mist (the didn't breath it in; it's not like they were just
conveniently
immune). Kami and Popo retrieve the sacred water and restore the
people of
Earth while the three warriors fight Garlic Jr. It finally comes down
to the
creation of another Dead Zone, but Gohan is smart enough to destroy the
Makeo
Star (the source of Garlic Jr.'s power) and send Garlic Jr. hiself into
the
Dead Zone which conveniently closes immediately after. Through all of
this,
Krillin has been having woman problems and though Maron (woman with big
tits)
would have accepted his marriage proposal, krillin knows better than to
go
for those kinda women and sets her free (she gets with another guy
immediately after).
Peace is once again restored and Gohan is once more stdying his ass
off. His
mother even goes as far as to hire a tutor (Mr. Shu) who abuses Gohan
and
repeatedly dishonors Goku's name. When Gohan is just about to beat his
ass.....Chi Chi comes in and does it! It is made very apparent that
Gohan
misses his father. He day-dreams and such, but still nothing.....
Vegeta (who got his ass off Earth a while back--before the Gralic
thing)
returns to dress up like Dan Hibiki and wreak (havic). All at once
there is
a disturbance in the lives of all the Z fighters. They can all feel a
dreadful power approaching Earth. To their disbelief it is Freeza,
returned
from the damn near dead. Nobody is ready to fight him, but they all
approach
cautiously. Though Goku doesn't return for another 2 hours, Freeza and
his
father (King Cold--if that's not the stupidest motife) are defeated
easily by
"a mysterious youth". Trunks comes back from the future not only to
kill
Freeza but to warn Goku of a heart disease that would later kill him
and to
give him the cure. Trunks leaves shortly after, revealing his
identlity only
to Goku.
Approximately 3 years pass and the andriods show up (as Trunks
predicted).
Everyone shows up to fight, but even Goku is almost outclassed. As
proficized, Goku suffers a heart attack, but Vegeta shows up out of
nowhere
and Ikubunga Attacks an andriod's ass (#19). Dr. Gero (who is also an
andriod himself and the leader of the Red Ribbon Army from Dragon Ball)
escapes to his lab and the others persue. He is stopped a few times
for a
fight on the way, but eventually makes it. Unfortunately for him, the
stronger androids that he was rushing to activate to save his own ass
decide
that they don't have to answer to him any longer and that he should die
(and
he does). Vegeta makes a fool of himself (not too difficult) and
android #18
beats the living crap out of him, finishing him off with a swift blow
to the
groin (arguabley stomach)! She sees that Vegeta is no match for her
and
leaves. The androids are programmed to kill Goku, so they get #16 out
of the
packaging and set off (#16 has a nifty built-in Goku tracking
device......I'm
not sure how that works) for his house where he has been recovering
from his
heart attack.
