Japanese junk


While roaming around looking for anime, I read fanfics and went to message boards and etc. And I found people saying something in Japanese and I'd be like "What is going on I'm really lost." So some I knew, and some I figured out on my own from subtitles and stuff and in case you are out there crying "I love anime but I don't know what's going on!" here's some helpful words and stuff:

  • Sore wa himitsu desu! = That's a secret!
  • baka = stupid, idiot, fool
  • ano? = huh?
  • Nani? = What?
  • arigato = thank you
  • gomen = sorry
  • hai = yes
  • bai = bye
  • Mazoku = lit., "demon race" or "evil race"
  • Ryuzoku = dragon race

    Name suffixes/titles
  • chan = friend, aquantince
  • san = title of respect to someone of higher rank
  • sama = used for someone you worship or highly respect (Like L-sama)
  • sempai = upperclassman, or used for someone you adore
  • kun = mocking, used on people who are beneath you or in a teasing way

    Other things...
  • ::facefaults:: = falls on face after something stupid happens
  • ::sweatdrops:: = getting a giant anime style sweatdrop

       Zama miro. ---------- It serves (him) right.
      Namakoku na. ---------- Don't sass me.
      Mono-ii niki wo tsukero -------- Watch your tongue.

  Sono kedamono-me! -------- That animal!

 inu-tsukubai --------- fawning (lit. dog-crouching) ((Sylphiel??))
       saru-mane-ya --------- copycat
       furu-danuki-me --------- sly old fox
       hitode-nashi -------- monster
