The night it happend chapter 2

They layed there for a few hours holding each other. He let her cry into 
his shirt & stroked her hair for comfort. 
She wiped some tears away & looked up at him. He had a sesitive look in 
his eye. He knew how she felt since he'd lost his parents when he was 
younger. 
"Darien...?" She said in a whispering tone.
"Yes?"
"Can...can I stay hear...until my mom is out of the hospital & all?" She 
asked, unsure how he'd react. 
He leaned down & kissed her lips softly & nods his head.
"Of course" He says. 
"Can I borrow one of your shirts?" She asks & blushed deeply. He smiled.
"Yeah, there's some in the closet over there. I'll go make you something 
to eat..." He said & got up & left the room to give her privacy.
~~~DARIEN'S POV~~~
God, I feel so bad about all of this. Poor Serena...
I heard a creaking noise & turned around. Serena was standing in the 
doorway in one of my (huge) shirts on & her golden hair wasn't in it's 
normal 'meatball' style. It fell around her & tickled her ankels. She 
looked so cute. Only thing out of place was her eyes. They didn't hold 
their usual light & happiness. 
"How are you feeling?" I aske her. She flashed a fake smile.
"I'm ok..." She walked over & sat at the table. I set down a plate of 
hamburgers & fries. She smiled at me & picked at the fries. I could tell 
she wasn't up for eating right now. 
~~~SERENA'S POV~~~
I wasn't all that hungry. Darien watched me with a concerned look. He 
didn't think I noticed. He's so good to me. I don't know how I managed 
to get his attention. But I'm glad I did. I know he can help me through 
all this better than anyone can. I pushed the plate away from me. 
"It's kinda late, you know." Darien said, breaking the silence. 
"What time is it?"
He glanced at his watch then said, "Ten after midnight."
I sigh. Time really flew. I look out a window across the room. The stars 
weren't shining. Niether was the moon. It was getting really cloudy. I 
look back at Darien. 
"Yeah...I'm getting a little tired. I don't know why...I just woke 
up..."
"You should get some sleep, it'll be good for you. Come on." He said & 
took my hand, leading me back to the bedroom. I got in the bed & wrapped 
up in the covers. 
"Well, I'll just sleep on the couch and-"
"-No! Please, stay with me? I...I need you, Darien..." I said, I could 
feel my cheeks blushing. He stood still for a moment in the doorway. 
Then smiled warmly at me & came back. He crawled in next to me & I 
snuggled into his embrace. I felt myself drifting off into sleep. I felt 
so safe in his arms. It's hard to explain...oh well, I'm not going to 
try...
~~~DARIEN'S POV~~~
She fell asleep in minutes. I watched her sleep. God, I wish there was 
something I could to cheer her up. I brushed a strand of hair away from 
her face & pulled her into my arms tighter. Eventully, falling asleep. 
-NEXT MORNING----------
"Anything else?" I asked & lifted one of her backpacks & carried it back 
to my car. 
"No. I think that's all I need. " She said, glancing back at her house. 
She stared for a minute then walked over to the car & got in. I think 
almost started crying before we left but i did not say anything. The 
ride back to my apartment was silent, Serena stared out the window sadly 
the whole time.
