Hey-o! This here is the third chapter. Hope you like! -Crescent Moon The Final Scout: Chapter Three Serena woke up early the next morning, pumped and disappointed at the same time. Ike was still a problem, and she had no clue what to do about Endy, or Darien, or whatever his name is! she nearly screamed in her mind. Ever since that battle with Beryl, everything came rushing back, and drove her nuts. She would get the flashes in school, while she was trying to concentrate on the board, and that would give her a painful headache. Miss Haruna would then send her to the nurse. Since the grading period was almost out, she really needed to be in class so she could pass the grade. At lunch, she would generally wander, munching a little, but not really hungry. She noticed that Lita was always sitting by herself behind some bushes, not eating much either. Once, when she felt adventurous, she popped into the computer lab during lunch, only to find Amy hard at work, eating very little as well. Those past four weeks since the battle had been the hardest for Serena. She didn’t even know if Mina was alive, much less if she was still Sailor V or what. Not to mention Lycanthrosphere. And Darien not remembering. ‘Mina liked the Crown Cafe. I’ll go there after school. Ooh, and today, I’ll introduce myself to Lita! Maybe she’ll have those great chocolate chip muffins! Yeah! And Amy, of course, I’ll have to at least introduce myself to her, if not invite to a study session at the cafe. Maybe that would be a good idea to get the three of us together. Raye and Mina, if she’s out there, will be a little harder. Well, better get ready. Luna’s waking up.’ Serena got out of bed and got ready for the day. Quickly going downstairs, she put in a pair of earrings she had just bought that weekend with Molly: very cute little diamond crescent moons with a silver star dangling from them on delicate gold chains. Sehr schön. (Very pretty.) Putting food in Luna’s cat dish, Serena quickly made herself some breakfast: pancakes and scrambled eggs, enough for her whole family. Her mom was the first of the sleepy family members to come downstairs. “Oh, Serena, you’re up early, and you made breakfast? Is it safe?” her mom asked, unsure about Serena’s cooking abilities. Serena nodded, and ate her own. To her it was okay. Her mom made comments about how wonderful they were, but Serena’s mind was on the upcoming day. As she finished, her brother and dad came down. They said good morning, and Serena went upstairs and grabbed her bag, checking to be sure her homework was in it. Seeing it was, she headed downstairs again. “Mom? Did you pack me a lunch yet?” Serena asked. “No I didn’t dear. You got up too early this morning. Can you pack your own?” she asked. “Yeah, no prob.” Serena headed into the kitchen again, grabbed her lunch box from the counter, and proceded to pack a yummy, but nutritious, lunch that would satisfy her stomach, if she was actually hungry. “I’m going early today, so I’ll see you guys tonight. Bye!” Serena called, walking out the door. “Dad?” asked Sammy. “Yes, Sammy?” he answered. “Who was that and where did my real sister go?” “That’s a wonderful question, son, and I wish I knew.” “You two!” reprimanded his mom. “I think it’s good for her.” Walking slowly to school was hard for Serena. First, she ran into Darien, not literally though, when he was out jogging. She smiled at him, and he nodded. As she rounded a corner, another memory hit her, and she doubled up in pain. Sitting on the ground, holding her head, was not her idea of fun. “Uh, Miss, are you okay?” asked a female voice. Looking up, Serena saw Lita. “Yeah, I think so. I just got hit with a real bad headache. Nothing major.” Lita held out a hand and helped Serena up. “I’m Serena.” “Lita. Nice to meet someone who isn’t afraid of me.” “Afraid of you? What do you mean?” “Haven’t you heard the rumors? Everyone says I got kicked out of my last school for fighting, and now no one will talk to me.” “Oh, that rumor. I heard it, but I never believe it until I see it. And you certainly don’t seem like one to fight.” Serena grinned as her friend blushed. “You wanna sit with me at lunch? I just kinda wander these days.” “Sure. Why do you wander?” “I.......well, I lost five people very dear to me recently, about five or six weeks ago, and I haven’t felt like coming in contact with the gossiping crowds. The only reason I heard the rumor is because my best friend’s crush always tells us these things, but my best friend spends time with him at lunch, and I don’t wanna disturb them.” Somewhere during this, they had started walking to the school. “Besides, I lost four friends and a boyfriend. I miss them, but none of them even remember me.” “What do you mean by that?” “Um........It’s really really hard to explain, Lita. I don’t really feel like going into it. You don’t mind, do you?” “Well, I’m curious, but if it’s too hard for you, no problem. C’mon, we’re here.” The two entered the school yard and headed for the classroom. Entering, they found Amy sitting there. “Hi Amy!” Serena called out. “Huh?” Amy’s head snapped up from her book. “Oh, hello Serena. How are you this morning?” “Oh, I’m doing pretty good. By the way, this is Lita,” Serena answered, pointing at Lita. Amy smiled shyly. “Hi Lita, it’s nice to meet you.” “Hiya Amy. Hey, do you wanna sit with us at lunch?” Lita asked eagerly. “I’ve got lots of food if you want some.” “Well, sure. I don’t really have anything better to do. And, well, I was really tired this morning and I forgot my lunch.” Amy grinned sheepishly. “That’s okay, Ames. It happens to everyone at least once,” Serena said. The bell rang, and the three girls quickly rushed to their desks. The room filled up quickly before the tardy bell, and then Ms. Haruna walked in. “Hello, class. Today, we’ll be having free periods. I’m not feeling well, and I couldn’t get a sub. You’ll be able to go outside and study, but you must do something constructive for at least a few periods.” With that, Ms. Haruna rushed out, her hand over her mouth. “Boy, Ms. Haruna sure must be sick. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her move that fast!” exclaimed Serena, giggling. Lita joined her, Amy just with a surprised look. “Let’s go outside, or something. Sitting in here is not going to be fun!” Lita said, making motions. “We can study for that test we’re supposed to have tomorrow.” “Yeah, we can study now, and after school, we can go to Crown Cafe! For ice cream!” Serena said excitedly. “I don’t know you guys..... But, sure!” Amy grabbed her stuff, and the three moved outside. For the entire morning, they studied for tests that were coming up within the next week. They were joined by Molly and Melvin every once in a while, but they generally went off by themselves. By lunch time, they were confident that knew everything they needed to know for their tests. “So, Serena, how’s your past few weeks been?” asked Amy. “I’ve noticed that you have been pretty quiet, and your attitude has changed.” “Ames, don’t worry about me. I’m getting over what happened. And please, don’t ask what I’m talking about. I’d rather not say.” Serena looked away as she chewed her meal. She was actually hungry for once. “Okay. Hey, uh, Serena? Do you know that guy?” Amy pointed behind her and Lita. Serena turned, as did Lita. “What guy?” she asked. “You mean the cute one by the gate that’s walking this way and waving?” asked Lita. “Yeah, him. Serena?” asked Amy, staring at the guy. “Serena?” she asked again as she didn’t answer. Both girls looked to the former spot Serena had occupied. Then they saw her walking towards the guy. “Hey Serena.” “Hey Darien! What’re you doing here?” Serena asked. The two walked back toward Lita and Amy, who were both currently drooling over how cute he was. “Well, Ms. Haruna called our medical department to see if we had any students who would know what she has. They sent the top of the class.” He shrugged. “So, why are you here then?” Serena asked teasingly. “Very funny little girl,” he retorted, tweaking her nose. “Who’re your friends?” “The brunette with the drool hanging out of her mouth is Lita, and the polite drooler is Amy.” Serena shook her head. “Ladies, he’s taken.” “By who?” asked Darien. “By.......... Me!” Serena grinned. “No really, by who?” he asked. “Me! I love you Darien!” Serena smiled innocently and sensually at the same time. Darien and her looked at each other with a twinkle in their eyes. Darien grabbed her, dipped her back, and they pretended to make out. Lita and Amy watched, their eyes bugged out. Soon a crowd gathered around. “Hey, when are you going to come up for air?” shouted someone from the crowd. Darien straightened, leaving Serena in the position she was, and said, “When we feel like we’ve gotten the point across to our friends.” Darien went back into the first position. Then Serena’s head came up. “We’re only joking.” They both stood up and laughed. Soon, the crowd left. “So, Serena, is Darien still taken?” asked Lita. “Yes,” they both promptly answered, laughing. Suddenly Serena’s eyes lit up. “Ooh! I know who it is! I know who they are now! Yes!!!!!” she shouted. “Huh?” all three asked. Serena blushed, saying she would tell them later. Well? It’s the end of the third part. Hope you liked it! -Crescent Moon
