Hey-o! It’s Crescent Moon here. There’s a girl in Rio de Janero, who sings in a cafe. Alright, I know that the last part was a bit, well, stupid to put it bluntly. I’ve written better prologues. Anyway, I’m trying out this new idea: What if Serena still had her memories, but didn’t let anyone know? So here you go: The Final Scout: Chapter One Serena dashed home, grabbed her bag, then dashed to school. Luckily, her lunch was sitting next to the bag so she grabbed that as well. She arrived in her classroom two minutes before the bell rang. “Well, Serena, you made it to class on time today, but do you have your homework?” Ms. Haruna asked. Serena rumaged through her bag. She had been bored that morning before she went out, so she did it. She felt more responsible now, older feeling. She was pretty sure it had something to do with the fight with Beryl. Ms. Haruna was a bit surprised that Serena had it, but didn’t say anything. “Hey Serena,” whispered Molly, “are you feeling okay?” “Yeah, I’m fine.” Serena whispered back. That day went unusually for Serena. She actually paid attention, didn’t fall asleep, and answered some of the questions. Molly was really worried for her best friend. “Serena,” Molly asked as they walked home, “are you sure you’re alright? You seem sort of depressed and really different.” Molly looked at Serena. “Hey, don’t worry about it. I just found out that Andrew has a girlfriend who’s in Africa.” Serena lied. “Oh! I’m sorry. I know you had a crush on him.” Molly put her hand on Serena’s shoulder. “Hey it’s okay. I guess I should have known about it. He really never had a love interest in me. He treats me like a sister. Doesn’t matter.” Serena gave her friend a smile. Molly smiled back. “Wanna go to the arcade or the mall?” asked Molly. “No. Mom’s worried about me since I woke up really early this morning and went out before breakfast. I have to get home. I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?” Molly nodded. Serena turned off at a corner that led to her house. “I’m home Mom!” Serena called out when she got in. “Hi Serena! How are feeling dear? Are you still sick?” Serena’s mother put her hand to her forehead. “I’m fine Mom. Can I go to my room? I want to put my bag up there and change.” Serena ducked under her mother’s arm and dashed up the stairs. She changed into a jean skirt and a pink shirt. She came back down and her mother gave her a snack. Serena ate it, then said that she was going out and be back for dinner. She headed for the park, then decided against it. She walked toward the business district. There she found a karate school which was offering free lessons. Serena was excited. ‘Maybe, if I get good enough, I’ll be able to use it as Sailor Moon, if Sailor Moon is needed again. I’ll try it.’ Serena went inside to sign up. It was every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday right after school. When she got home, she called Molly. “Hey Mol? Can I ask you to do me a favor?” “Sure. What is it?” “Say that every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday that I’m going to your house after school.” “Sure. Why?” “Because I don’t want my mom to worry when I don’t go home after school. It’s kinda personal, so could you not ask about it?” “Okay. I guess so. I’ll tell your mom that if she calls on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday looking for you. I’ll see you tomorrow, right? You don’t have that thing tomorrow, do you?” The next day was a Friday. “No, it starts next Monday, but it’ll be good practice. I’ll tell my mom that I’ll be over there. Thanks Mol!” They said good-bye, then Serena had to eat dinner. After dinner, she did her homework and just stayed in her room. Friday went the same as the day before. Serena did go over to Molly’s that afternoon. They just gossiped for awhile before Serena went home. That weekend Molly convinced Serena to go to the mall with her. Serena had done her homework the night before, so she didn’t have an excuse to say no. She still had all of her allowance, since she hadn’t gone to the arcade for awhile. They had a lot of fun, and Serena kind of let loose and became her usual, happy self. That is, until they ran into Darien toward the end of their shopping spree. “Oh, hi Darien. What are you doing here?” Serena asked. Molly had gone ahead, seeing a store that had the music she was looking for. “Oh, just nothing. I was bored, so I came here.” Darien replied. “Oooh. No girlfriends?” “Nope. Not interested. All they want is looks, not personality.” Darien sighed. Serena nodded in understanding. “Only one of my friends goes for personality, but it happens to be an unpopular guy. I just hope that everyone doesn’t tease her that much.” “You mean, you don’t go for looks?” Darien asked, snobbishly. “No, I do not.” They were leaning again a ledge on the wall. Serena stood up straight. “Why do you ask? It’s not like it really matters to you. You just tease me. I suppose I don’t mind it that much anymore. I’m used to it, but really. What interest do you have in my personal life?” Serena knew that she had cornered him when he opened his mouth, but no sound came out. She smiled. “Cat got your tongue? Or are you embarrassed for some reason?” Serena almost laughed. Darien was turning red. “Alright, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to embarrass you or anything. But I do want to know.” Serena said as she left to catch up with Molly, who was waving to her. That Monday, school was just like Friday and Thursday. It seemed that Serena was changing for the better. ‘If only they knew the reason.’ Serena thought bitterly after she had heard Ms. Haruna commenting about that to one of the other teachers. After school, Serena headed for the karate school. It was called Mr. Ugur’s Karate School. Serena went there. She had one of those funny outfits that she had gotten in the mall that weekend. She was in the beginners class. Unfortunately, Darien was the teacher. Serena was a bit shocked to discover that, but not as shocked as Darien was when he found out she was in the class. The first class was pretty easy, but Serena was determined to get up in the class and get out of it to advance into the harder classes. She really wanted to learn so she would do better as Sailor Moon. For three weeks, Serena worked diligently at karate and school. Her mother thought that she was over at Molly’s, and Molly was the only one, besides Darien, who knew the wiser. That fourth Monday, when Serena got home, her mother was standing right next to the door. “Serena! Where have you been young lady?” her mother asked. “At Molly’s.” Serena replied. “No you weren’t. I called there and Molly’s mother said that you weren’t there. And that you weren’t there all those other days. Where have you been and why is Molly lying for you?” “I talked Molly into it, after promising that I would go to the mall with her on the weekends. I’ve been in the business district, getting karate lessons.” Serena ducked her head. “Serena, why ever would you want to take karate lessons?” “Because I don’t feel safe on the streets?” Serena half told, half asked. Then she ducked around her mother and dashed up to her room to change for dinner. Her mother didn’t question her further, so Serena decided that it was okay to keep going to lessons. She told Molly that she didn’t have to lie anymore. Molly was happy. After another three weeks, Serena was passed into the next class. But, another enemy had reared it ugly head. That made Serena even more determined to learn karate. She didn’t know who the enemy was and wished that she had Amy’s computer. There had been two fights, easier than her other fights now that she had some physical way to attack. On a weekend, after she had gone shopping with Molly, Serena cleaned out her lunar space pocket. She found her Luna Pen, the Crescent Moon Wand, the Imperium Silver Crystal, and a pink computer with a crescent moon on it! ‘Thank you Mother.’ Serena thought. ‘I just hope that I can use this thing.’ She opened it. It seemed pretty simple. Serena typed in what the monsters were like, what types of attacks hurt them the most, and what they looked like. She saved that, then sent it through an analyzing program. It said that they were from a different dimension. Serena had yet to discover what their purpose was. The next day was Sunday. Serena decided to walk around, since she was very bored. She didn’t want to go to the arcade. It held too many memories. At the park, she sat down on a swing. Hearing someone walking by, she looked up. It was Darien. “Hey, what are you doing here all by yourself Meatball Head? I’d thought for sure you’d be at the arcade.” he said. Serena wasn’t sure if he was being mean or nice. She decided on nice. “No. Too many memories- I mean, I spend too much there.” Serena shrugged. “I thought for sure you’d start being mean after that last remark of mine. It could be taken either way. You’ve changed.” Darien was genuinely nice. “Yeah, but not for good reasons. You’ve changed too. At least, I think you have. I’m not sure yet.” Serena forced a smile out. Suddenly there were screams from across the park. “Oh no! Not now!” Serena grumbled. She started to run towards the screams. “What are you doing?” Darien asked, catching her arm. “I’m going to check it out. Are you coming or not?” Serena completely forgot that he was now just a normal human. Darien gulped, then nodded. The two ran towards whatever it was. It was a monster. This time there was someone else with it. Serena assumed that he was the one responsible for this. The thing spotted them, being the only ones who weren’t moving. It tried to attack, but Serena pushed Darien away and jumped away herself. Seeing Serena was the smart one, the monster decided to attack Darien. “NO!” shouted Serena. She used a karate move that she was still trying to learn. She somehow got it right. Darien was amazed. “Get out of here!” Serena screamed to him. He shook his head. “Are you nuts? You should get out of here.” he said back. Serena shoved him really hard in the direction of the gate, then ran towards it, catching his arm. Darien kept up with Serena easily. They ran out of the park, hoping that they would get away. Serena pretended to be tired and slowed. Luckily, Darien didn’t notice. “Moon Prism Power!” Serena shouted. Sailor Moon appeared in a few seconds, whipped out her computer, and ran towards the monster and the person. She scanned the area, looking for people that had been drained. Only a couple. She put her computer in a place so it could scan the person and the monster without her holding it, then headed into battle. “Okay, big and ugly, you’ve ruined my afternoon. Now you’re going to pay!” she shouted, jumping down from her tree. “Well, well, well, what have we here? Looks like Intelligence was right when they said a little-itty-bitty girl was stopping us. Well, Hacker here isn’t as dumb or as weak as the other two, so you’re in for it now, girly-girl,” teased the man. Sailor Moon got a good look at him and gasped. “No!” she whispered. “Not him, please, not him!” Sailor Moon sank down to her knees, and screamed. The man looked at her like she was some kind of psycho. “Uh, Hacker! Take care of her!” the man shouted, and pointed at the screaming girl. It nodded and lumbered off., while the man disappeared. Sailor Moon watched it coming, waited, then leaped over it, kicking it in the back of its head. A fight ensued, Sailor Moon attacking physically, and dodging its energy attacks. Nothing really seemed to phaze him. She missed dodging an attack and was hurled into a rose bush. Getting an idea, she quickly magicked a rose into being, like his roses, only pink, and whipped it at Hacker’s face as she stood. It hit the poor thing in its eye, blinding it. “Moon ..... Tiara ..... Magic!” Sailor Moon shouted, throwing her tiara at Hacker. In a burst of light and screams, Hacker was dusted. Sailor Moon dutifully jumped back into her tree, grabbed her computer, and got the hell out of there. She detransformed as she hid behind a tree, looking at the information the computer had gathered. Hacker was the same as the other two monsters, only his energy levels were higher, and it showed that his weakness had been his eye. ‘If only I could hold this thing while fighting! It would be so much easier. It would been even easier if Merc- No! Don’t think like that! They’re not here anymore, or at least they don’t remember, like Raye.’ Shaking her head, she pulled up information on the man. Thinking back, she remembered his sandy-brown hair and his bright purple eyes. His height and build reminded her of Darien, way too much for her. Looking at her computer, it confirmed her suspicions. The man was Lycanthrosphere. Okay, I know that the name doesn’t mean much to you right now, but it will soon, almost as much as it means to Serena. It’s pronounced Lie-can-throw-sphere. I hope that you liked this!
