A thin, scared voice wove its way into his darkness. "Onegai, wake up...wake up!" the voice pled. He slowly, groggily opened one midnight eye to find a small girl huddled in fear against his sprawled out body. He lifted his head and sat up, only to be rewarded by a loud pounding in his ears. He covered them and rocked back and forth until the pain subsided somewhat. Then he regarded the girl beside him. She glowed with an ethereal light which did not reach him. Her face was a pale full moon, very frightened, and her eyes were enormous orbs of bright blue. They shone, flickered, glimmered, and suddenly a drop spilled over and flowed down her luminous cheek. Out of the blue, he realized that she must be crying. He felt a need to comfort her, this surreal angel, who seemed so upset. He reached up and stroked her long, flowing hair. It felt like silk and smelled like a summer breeze. She turned and embraced him, her tears dampening his shoulder with their wetness. "Shh...it's okay. I'm here...." he crooned. She pulled him in tighter. "Where are we?" she whispered into the cloth of his shirt. "I'm so frightened. And it's so dark here." "I...I don't know," he conceded, "but that doesn't matter. I'll protect you," he whispered fiercely into her hair. "Some protector." She giggled, then withdrew from the protective circle of his arms. "Hey, why's that so funny to you?" In the dark, she couldn't see the quizzical look that came with the question. She laughed again. "Mamoru..." she chuckled out, "means..." she hiccupped, "protector...." Then her laughter ceased abruptly, when she found her joke not so funny after all. "Where are we?" she asked again. "Why?" "Hey! You can't answer my question with a question! That's not fair." She pushed him down onto what she assumed was the ground. "Well, I thought it was." He gave a deep throated laugh and lunged at her, pinning her to the floor. "And who are you to say that I'm wrong? I thought I had all the answers!" "I didn't say _that_! Don't go putting words in my mouth!" He was suddenly very close to her face, his breath tickling her lips. "Is that an order, princess? Because I don't obey orders," he said, his voice deliberately hushed. Then he said, "But I do tickle the princesses who give them!" That said, he began a tickling assault which left her panting and screaming for him to stop. He finally did, not because of her pleas, but because she had begun her own battle with him, being the only person he could ever remember who knew where he was most ticklish. He finally managed to stop her by pinning her arms to the sides of her body. She suddenly say the compromising position that they were in--he was on top of her, holding her arms, with one leg in between hers, keeping her in place--and told him to get up. "Iie. I think...I think I like it this way," he said, smiling devilishly. "Nani? What do you mean you 'like it this way'?" "I mean," he said, his face coming very close again, "that I like it better this way. Too close for comfort, ne?" His words rendered her speechless. A strangled "Hai...." was all she could manage before his lips claimed hers in a passionate kiss. The swirling maelstrom of their hidden emotions came crashing down in a waythat neither understood and nothing more needed to be said. Their private moment was too soon interrupted by a bright light being shone on them from above and a disembodied voice ringing down from the shadowy heights of the ceiling. "Oh, how _sweet_. Lover boy and his little wimpy girl sharing a kiss," the voice sneered. "I think I'm going to be sick." The voice made a gagging sound, then barked the order, "Separate them! Now!" Usagi started to cy as two monstrous beings dragged her away from Mamoru. He tried to grab her around the waist to prevent them from taking her, but to no avail. The lights went on in another part of the chamber. They illuminated a glass coffin large enough for one person, provided that the one was only about 5'4". Mamoru watched with growing horror as Usagi was pushed and pulled into the coffin. She only screamed once, and then the lid was placed over her, drowning out all other cries. He clenched and unclenched his hands very slowly, then issued a challenge to the being who had so quickly deprived him of his happiness. "You give her back! She's mine, you demon! MINE!" he yelled. "What a fool you are," the voice chuckled. "What a dominating fool." "Show yourself, hag!" he screamed, his fear for Usagi's life fueling his anger. He could see her in the coffin, her mouth parted in silent terror, her hands banging against the too-heavy lid. To see her like that was torture for him. He suddenly realized that if he didn't get her out soon, she would suffocate inside the coffin. "Hag? A hag am I? You who claim to see me, look upon me now!" She descended from the ceiling on a silver ladder. He first saw her long, long legs covered in fish-net pantyhose ending in black stiletto heels, then a tight black bathing suit cut so that it showed as much skin as was possible. Then he saw her face. It must have been beautiful once, but now it radiated so much hate that it was impossible to call it such. Lavender hair flowed down the creature's pink skin past her hips. She jumped the remaining distance to the ground and regarded him with cold eyes. "You _are_ a hag. You're nothing compared with her beauty," he said confidently. "Still you call me a hag? I'll give you a hag. But before I destroy you, let me introduce myself. I am Morgana, Queen of Darkness. I reign supreme here, in this dimension that you have traveled to, You may introduce yourself now. I enjoy boasting of my victories, especially when I can name them," she commanded him. He took a step forward saying, "I am Chiba Mamoru. And what makes you think that you'll win?" "Oh, just this," she said nonchalantly. Then she clasped her hands together, shouting, "Burning Winds, I command you! FREEZE!" A harsh gust of wind came up and blew Mamoru against the far wall, which seemed to shrink from his touch. Then a large ice shard came flying straight at his fallen form. Usagi watched from the coffin, her eyes wide, her hands threaded together in prayer. The ice shard veered wildly around and headed for Morgana. She laughed crazily and disappeared. "I'll be back soon, just you wait. And Tokyo will be mine!" she cackled. Mamoru lay unconscious next to the retreating wall. The two creatures who had put Usagi in the glass case lifted the limp man and shackled him to the wall. The iron cuffs bit into his flesh and he moaned unknowingly. Then they, too, disappeared, leaving Mamoru and Usagi in the chamber as prisoners. like? no like? in any case, EMAIL IS A GOOD THING! write me @ Loralei1300@aol.com.
