Chapter 4- The Awakening By Andromeda Ami stared hard at her computer. It couldn’t be true, could it? The monster was down, her wounds healed, and the victor gone from the scene. Not only were her wounds healed, but Mars was stirring also. The only trace of any battle was a bit of silver dust. Maybe it would tell her about her mysterious helper if analyzed. The only baffling thing was that the energy coming from the battle was good and shadow mixed together. She was a strange helper if one at all. **************** Sharantyr got home to her apartment wet and tired. At least everyone was safe. The only thing troubling her was where these things were coming from. What was it that sent the dark elemental? And the sleep youma? Something wasn’t right and for some reason she was expected to fix all the world’s woes and still take part in them. This was a crazy thing and she hated it. There was a way to become all good, but she had reason to believe her only chance had passed in the Silver Millennium. The stars were fickle things after all. Shining brightly one moment, leeching holes of darkness the next. *****Flashback*** “To arms! The enemy is upon us!” The grand ball was disrupted when this cry rang out. The princess stole a last kiss from her prince before he left to protect the kingdom. All the bodyguards transformed into the protectors of their sacred planets. Peace was soon protected by blood. All who could fight were in the ranks. So much that the woman loathed to destroy. She hated the cries of death and the smell of decay. A beautiful kingdom sent to ruin. Duties! To the ends of the earth with duties! No one understood as well as she what weight the duties she had carried. If anything, though, she would do nothing. Perhaps she could not fight on the side of good, but she would not help destroy them either. *****End******** She was a coward then. She should have ignored duties. She should have done what was right in her heart. But no, redemption seemed too late to find. The princess had died in that attack. Everyone had. Except for her. What a wretched thing she was! No, the scouts she had seen lately. The princess’s protectors. That they had come back to life must mean the princess was nearby. She was the only one who could relieve her of her horrible duties. Or maybe not. It was only a guess anyway. And what if she was wrong? **************** “So what was this person,” Rei asked Ami. “I’m not actually sure,” Ami replied. Rei gawked at her. How could she not know? She always knew the answer to everything! But if Ami’s guess was true, the person was a sailor scout and an enemy. It just didn’t make sense. “I think I should do a fire reading, Ami. Whoever this person is, I should be able to find her intentions.” Ami immediately agreed. Rei went to the fire of her planet, Mars. The fire flared and danced, but revealed nothing. She concentrated harder. Suddenly the fire extinguished and she was sent flying into Ami. It was bad luck for the Mars fire to go out. Something bad would happen very soon, but the horrible thing was, they didn’t know what to expect. **************** “Who am I? Why are these things coming back to me?” Faye demanded of the negaverse. Answers that she didn’t like flooded into her head. “You are the only one who can defeat the sailor scouts. Galaxia was meant to die. Beryl was meant to die. Sheik will die. You are the only one who can possibly survive.” Things came back to her then. Horrible things. “No! NO! Why have I come to this? Why could I not just stay as I was? Was it my own power or yours you witch? I will not kill them!” This did not bode well for the negaverse. She had gotten her memories back far faster than usual. And more of them. She would have to wipe her memories again. Too much could happen to spoil its plans this time. The other lieutenants of darkness were born to fail. But this one. She had the marvelous power to shape her own fate. Of the few that existed she had found a gem in a pile of fake ones. The despair and hatefulness of this pitiful creature was just what it needed to feed on. To nurse it back to health. The scouts had struck a telling blow, but they would not have as much of a chance this time. Things change, though. It would have to keep a close watch on this one. It wouldn’t do to have her run away and warn its enemies. Nothing could stop it now! As long as this one was in its power its rule on earth would become absolute. “Perhaps Sheik could become your maid. You’d like her dusting your room, wouldn’t you?”
