Background:
Yohko Goto was the only child of Keichi and Shinobu Goto, who owned a small
neighbourhood bakery. Growing up in the apartment over the bakery, she spent
her childhood reading and playing with the other children.
When she started going to school, it soon became apparent that Yohko was a
tad smarter than the average kid. So after scratching their heads for a while,
the teachers and her parents agreed to send her to a boarding school far away
so that she could study without any distractions. Once at the boarding school,
she was roomed with another girl her age, Minami Fujisawa, and the two became
fast friends. Sadly, one day when they both was 16, Minami was caught cheating
on a test, earning a disciplinary punishment. The sad part is that she thought
Yohko had told the teachers that she would cheat, and thus blamed her punishment
on her, bearing a grudge that still hasn't gone away. And by the way, Yohko
never did tell the teachers, it was in fact just a freak chance that the discovered
her.
After a while, Minami changed rooms with another girl, claiming not to be able to live with Yohko any more. In stead, Yuri Takegura, a petite girl who was really small for her age, moved in and she and Yohko quickly became friends. Now, Yuri had a problem as well. She was harassed by a school bully, Aoi Mishima. Yohko pleaded to Yuri to stand up to Aoi, since the bully would back down at the first sign of resistance. Yuri on the other hand argued that since she was a small girl, and since Aoi was more like Yohko's size, it would be dumb to stand up to her. Then one day after Aoi had been bugging Yuri during a gym class, Yohko put her foot down. She told her that she was fed up with the way Aoi treated people and if she didn't stop right now, someone should do something about it. Aoi slapped her. Yohko slapped back.
After the following catfight, Aoi never bothered Yuri any more. Sadly, she started to aim her insults, schemes and violent outbursts towards Yohko instead. After finishing school (and three more fights with Aoi), Yohko entered the Temporal Order for reasons she keeps to herself. The fact that she had to endure the company of Minami and Aoi, who also had joined the TO, did little to raise her spirits.
After working as a cybertrooper for four years, she was promoted to Cyberangel, a great honour in her eyes. Sadly, Minami and Aoi also followed her up in the ranks. Minami she can accept, but Aoi and Yohko are usually at each others throats after five minutes of semi-polite conversation.
