He stood away from the crowd next to his machine,
With the flip of a switch, It started to scream.
"My name is MacDugal" He said with a whine,
"Go ahead, step inside, Try the sands of time!"
The whir of the machine Drew the eyes of the crowd,
Yet no one came forward, So he said real loud
"This is your last chance, You don't want to miss"
Then his machine belched And let out a big hiss.
The Loud noise scared the crowd And they all jumped a step back
Except for a scruffy young man, With a red and blue pack.
"At Last a brave soul!" Arthur Suddenly Replied
"Tell me your name, son And come up by my side."
The frightened young figure stumbled forward slowly
He reached MacDugal and said in a voice so lowly,
"N-N-NEd" He Stammered out, Then with more conviction,
"What do you want, and what is this contraption?"
Arthur reached out and grabbed Ned by the arm
"Don't be afrad boy, 'Twill bring you no harm.
"See for yourself! 'Tis a Game A mere gag!"
Then he covered Ned's eye's With an old musty rag.
"Have a seat" Arthur growled, As he pushed Ned, With a frown.
"Buckle up boy, You'll Need it, For it dislikes slowing down."
As reluctant as ever, Ned removed his pack,
And he did up the buckle With a loud Clickety-Clack
Now this was quite a device into which Ned had climbed.
He saw Buttons and dials, But steering he could not find
It had a snowmobile for a body and a cockpit for a cab,
and big jet engine underneath where he sat.
"When you return, Boy, I shall pay you to your hearts desire,
But do not light up, for it will surely catch fire.
Then MacDugal pushed a red button and flipped a big latch
and the engine started burning for it's trip down the track
Just at that moment he heard a police siren blair.
"It's the police" someone shouted, "We have no time to spare!"
As the crowd quicly dispersed, Arthur dove into the gadget.
Right into Ned's Lap As it shot down the track.
Now MacDugal had not figured the difference in weight,
But his machine just rattled in that supersonic state
When all of then sudden, To MacDugal's surprise,
There was a bright flash of light Nearly blinding their eyes.
The fuel for the engine was completely spent,
The bulky machine slowed, Coastting down the track as it went
Arthur and Ned looked up, Both extremely surprised,
A mysterious black cloud Loomed right before their eyes.
They stepped out of the Trivex (That's what Arthur calls it)
Away from the tracks And sat down, to think a bit.
Ned Shouted "something's not right And it's all your fault.
"You better fix it, and I hope you get caught"
Ned jumped up and started to run
Leaving MacDugal behind, to bake in the sun.
"No, wait!" Arthur called out "We need to get back"
"I'm getting the cops" Ned Yelled, "and I hope you get sacked"
The Large black cloud had grown and grown
and a long bolt of lightning Shot out at the ground
Arthur looked up and to his dismay,
It hit the Trivex, Square in the display.
Peices shot out as it melted down
Iron and glass Oozed on the ground.
The melting glass started to fluoresce,
And Arthur cried as he kicked the mess.
The cloud grew larger, And Arthur startled, and ran,
But the cloud still grew, Nearly catching the man
Ahead was a tractor, Which he saw Just in time,
It fired right up in a loud squeaky whine.
He had to move fast there wasn't a doubt
the tractor he drove just ahead of the cloud
Arthur came to a road, Where the tractor just died
and racing toward him Some police cars he spied.
The cops grabbed him And stuffed him in back,
Up front he saw ned, With his red and blue pack
"Now you will pay" Ned said with a frown,
"Your cloud has destroyed Over half of the town!"
MacDugal had to find parts, To rebuild the machine
For he had this Idea He could reverse this thing
He was nearly finished, And then heard someone yell:
"Run! Here comes That big storm (As if you can't tell)."
In the ensuing panic, The rebuilt contraption
Got knocked on the floor And broke the controls some
"Oh, Wonderful" Arthur exclaimed As he heard people screaming
"Now it won't work", He said, Loudly complaining.
MacDugal just stood there, Looking dumbfounded,
And the storm entered the building as it expanded.
Arthur looked up, an Ned disappeared,
And MacDugal Passed out, completely from fear.
Now that was the end, or so you might think,
But macdugal was dreaming, He'd Fallen asleep,
He woke with a start, forgetting his dream.
Then Arthur went to his shop, To look at his things.
The shop he had loaded with gadgets galore.
Piles of books, That he had on the floor.
But there in the corner, on tracks leading north,
Sat a familiar contraption ready to move forth...
