Dear Seiryuu Seishi, Hi. I have a questions for you. It is one is a bit personal, so I don't want a religious extremest answering it and telling me that I have to believe in God or something, okay? I'm not saying that you all are or something, but this is my first time on this site so I'm not sure what sort of people I'm talking to. I'm an atheist. I have been an atheist since I was somewhere around ten, about three years. However, just recently I went to a church service for teens. I've never seen anything like it! The few times that I've been to church, the kids and teens were always squirming and asking their parents how much longer until it was over every few seconds, including me. But not these ones. It was like they were hanging on every word as if their life depended on it. It was the first time that I've ever really listened to a church service. A lot of the things that they said really moved me. I've taken a lot at school for being an atheist, and now I'm beginning to wonder if God really does exist. I'm just really confused right now. I have some very firm beliefs, and it unnerves me that something so little could start to change that. I've had countless people talk to me about God and how he exists. What should I do? Is it possible to believe in God and not believe in him at the same time? Thank you for listening to me. Hydra-Star

Dear Hydra-Star,     It's certainly a natural thing to wonder about. Ultimately, the only one who can make that decision is you. The best thing to do, we've found, is just to research. You may change your mind, or you may find that it solidifies your original beliefs. Tsutsuji went on a spiritual quest of her own (as well as theology is just a hobby) so if you'd like to have a list of some of the good books we've read, we can certainly provide that for you. Religion is the ultimate personal decision; what other people believe shouldn't sway you, no matter how much they think it should. Dear Seiryuu Seishi, Many thanks for your help about Mary Sue. With regards to Jials's letters, I have eminently unqualified advice to give. Take it with however much salt you need. With regards to the teacher, was there any sort of qualifying statement on it? (I'm not condoning the act, and he shouldn't be, either, but this is my curious side) Did he say that girls who dress immodestly invite it upon themselves, and thus it is justifiable in the sense that the result appears to be linked to the cause? Was there some sort of context in it so that he might not be advocating that sort of thing? Secondly, regarding preachers, good pass, Ashitare, and sound advice, Tsutsuji. Those sorts of people do continue on into other realms of life, but they tend to become a smaller percentage as you get away from the closed environments of school. If you feel particularly creative, you can start devising ways to make the preachers feel uncomfortable...but that's generally advanced coursework, in my opinion. So hang in there... it does get better. And returning to my original design, I almost wonder why people abuse worlds in such a manner as to make themselves fit... why not create a world around your Mary Sue instead of using someone else's?
