Character Description: Orihime was born into an abusive home and beaten as a baby to stop her crying. In order to spare her the abuse, her older brother Sora took her away from her parents. He raised her until his death from a car accident when she was 12 years old. The day he died, Orihime was angry at him for giving her hair clips she did not like. After his death, she vowed to always wear clips in her hair to honor him. Later, Orihime becomes a student at Karakura High school, the same school Ichigo attends. She develops a crush on Ichigo and becomes friends with him. Orihime is also involved in Ishida's sewing club and becomes friends with him as well. Due to Ichigo's overflowing spiritual energy, Orihime eventually recognizes her own spiritual power, the Shun Shun Rikka, or "Six Princess Shielding Flowers." The hairclips she waears transform into six spiritual guardians that protect her by creation shields that reject enemy forces and energies. They are actviated when she summons their names, chants a kotodama, or spirit chant, and calls out "I reject!" Three of them, Hinagiku, Baigon, and Lily, create Santen Kesshu, or Sacred Tri-Linked Shield. This is a defensive shield that protects her from outside attacks. Shun'o and Ayame, two others, can form Stoen Kishun, or Scared Dual Return Shield. This is a shielded zone that can be used for healing. Her final one, the Tsubaki, creates Koten Sanshun, or Sacred Solitary Cutting Shield. With this one, she enters in both sides at once, slicing the enemy in two. |
