Slayers Future

WHO is that?!? Not MY Child!!

Written By: Anya

"OO! OOh! Miss Lina! Look! Can we go in there? It looks like fun!"
Amelia squealed pointing to the Fortune Reader sign.

"Now what in the world would a fortune reader be doing WAY out
here?" Zelgadis asked as Lina nodded and the group started towards the
little hut. The group consisted of Lina, Gourry, Amelia, Zelgadis,
Filia and of course, Xellos, who was currently following Filia to
annoy her.

Pushing open the tent flap, the four walked inside to be greeted
by the fragrence of powerful incense and a scene of mystical surroundings.
Crystal balls, Chalices, sparkling cloth and beads hanging everywhere.

"It certainly looks like a typical Fortune Teller set up."
Xellos said turning over a crystal ball in his hand before Filia slapped
him and made him put it back earning her a stuck out tongue.

The group stood around for a few moments before they heard some
crashing in the back and cursing to follow. Moments later an old woman
emerged from behind a curtain of beads, stumbling with a pile of cloth in
her arms. She suddenly tripped on the carpet in front of her, spilling
the dirty cloth all over the group.

"Ahem," Zelgadis cleared his throat as the woman looked up.

"Oh my! Im so sorry! I didn't see you there!" she scrambled up
and grabbed the sheets off of the peoples heads throwing them aside,
straitening out her skirt and smiling innocently. She wore a brown skirt
and a red velvet top with a strip of black velvet wrapped around
her chest. On her head rested a bandana with various dark designs on
it. But the strangest thing was the dark glasses on her eyes, Zel didnt
know how she could see out of them. "Now, how can I help you?" she asked.

"We saw the sign outside and thought it would be neat to have our
fortunes read." Amelia smiled at her.

"Ah! Right! Now, just let me get a look at you-" she started,
taking off her glasses. "OH MY! IT'S YOU!" she gasped. Suddenly she grasped
Amelia and Zelgadis' wrists and dragged them with her. "Come! Come!
All of you, please come! I have been waiting for you!" she yelled pulling
them into the back room to the corner. As soon as she let go, the two
rubbed their wrists.

"WHAT WAS ALL THAT ABOUT!?" Lina screeched.

"Ahh...sorry. I just got a bit excited." the old lady scratched
the back of her head and grinned.

"But you said you had been waiting for us." Zelgadis said.

"Yes. Yes! I have. I have been waiting for quite a while for
you. I have something to show you!" she smiled.

"And let me guess. It will only cost us everything we've
got?" Zel continued, rolling his eyes.

"What? NO! NO, this will cost you nothing! This is a prophecy
that I was meant to show you. I cannot charge you for something that is
destiny!" she said.

The group watched astounded as she pulled a large dusty sheet
from a tall mirror. The mirror was an antique to say the least. It was
huge too. As tall as Gourry and as wide as four people put togather. The
trim was made of Oak and the mirror itself was scratchy and
cobwebbed, but in fine shape otherwise. No cracks or breakes.

"What's that?" Gourry asked and was about to be hit by Lina
when the old woman answered.

	"It's a Magick Mirror."

"Huh?" The group asked at the same time.

"A...Magic...Mirror?" Zel studdered. "There is no such thing."

"Ah, but there is. It is said whenever a prophecy must be
filled or knowlege must be known, that a magick mirror shows up to deliver
the tale to the person that must know it. And this was given to me many
many years ago by an old man. He said that I must keep it and mind these
rules. I must keep it safe from all harm, out of people's sight and
I must Never, NEVER look into it myself or the prophecy will be
ruined. I have followed these rules for nearly 50 years." she sighed.

"The how do you know we are the ones who need to look into it?"
Zelgadis asked.

"Well you see, the man told me that I would know when you came.
He said the moment I saw you I would know you. And I did. It was amazing!
It was like he had shown me a picture of you because I recognized you so
well. Incredible. But I do know that it's you. Now, please...gather
round." She smiled as the group came warily closer.

"What do we do?" Amelia asked.

"You stare into the mirror. A scene will play out for you."

"How do you know this?" Filia asked.

"Why..he told me. He said that whomever stared into this that was
meant to stare into it, would see the future or the prophecy, whichever
was needed to put them on their right path."

"Alright. Im gonna trust you on this, but if anything happens.."
Lina threatened with a fireball and the old lady just smiled and pointed
to the mirror.

"Now as you stare into this, it will be like a watching a play of
sorts...only with music..or so I was told." the old lady said looking
off.

"What?" almost all of the group asked stumped.

	"Uh...you'll see." she sweatdropped.

The group gathered warily around the large mirror and watched as
a scene began to form before their eyes. It was just a white box, but there
were signs of purple edging around the box's bottom. Suddenly a person
stepped in front of the screen and seemed to sit down so that only their
face and shoulders were showing. Everyone turned to look at Xellos for
a moment in shock, before turning back to the image before them.

The girl had a huge smile on her face and her purple locks
perectly resembled Xellos's. Her eyes, however, were a deep blue. She lifted
her arms and tapped what looked like two sticks togather four times
as the screen moved out to reveal her sitting behind a set of deep purple
drums. She began to play a quick catchy beat and the screen froze for a
moment, the tune still going as the lettering 'The Trickster' crossed
the screen, before unfreezing. From what the group could see, she was
wearing a black tank top and a light purple skirt that flowed around her
calves. The group watched as the image moved to her right to a redhead
with short spikey hair. Her eyes were a deep Crimson just like Lina's
and thusly everyone looked at Lina momentarily who was too shocked herself
to threaten them. Turning back to the girl, she had a guitar in her hands,
but it was unlike any the group had seen. It was slicker and had a
cord coming out the bottom of it. Her outfit was a lacey red top
with tight beige leather pants. She started to play a fast beaty tune
in time to the drumming. Again the screen froze and wording crossed
the mirror 'The Fireball', then unfroze and moved to the center of the
screen where the last member of the group stood. She also had a guitar,
but instead of a deep red as the 'Fireball's' had been, it was a
royal blue and silver. She wore faded blue pants made of rough material
(jeans) and her royal blue top wrapped around her front and continued
down the back to her ankles. In her hands was a silver guitar almost exactly
like Fireball's. The image then moved up to the girls face and everyone
gasped and turned to look at Amelia for a moment who was also in shock,
then turned back to the screen. The girl had long dark brown hair,
nearly black, braided every now and then across her head and a small
silver crown sat apon her head. Again the screen froze and the words
scrawled across: 'The Princess'. She winked at the camera as the scene
started up again, before grabbing the microphone in front of her and
beginning to sing.

Papa I know your going to be upset
cause I was always your little girl
but you should know by now,
I'm not a baby

you always taught me right from wrong
I need your help, daddy please be strong
I may be young at heart,
but I know what im saying

The one you warned me all about
the one you said I could do without
we're in an awful mess
and I don't mean maybe
please

	"Who...who are they?" Amelia asked.

The woman turned towards the group and spoke. "It should
be obvious by now. They are your children."

"Yes, but who's?" Zelgadis asked watching the music play out.

"Why....all of yours." she said, earning her a shocked face from
everyone except Gourry who was confused.

"Wait a minute." Lina blurted in, "You mean to tell me, that
we are standing with the person who is going to be the....father
or mother of our children?"

"That is correct. All of the parents of these children are here
now, in this very room." She smiled as everyone face faulted, afraid
to ask, whom was with whom.

In the image, the girl singing, danced around, her voice deep
and aluring as the song continued on. The two played along and sang
with her at certain intervals.

"That can't be right." Zelgadis muttered.

"Why do you say that?" the old woman asked.

"Look at these girls. Not one of them looks like me. They
have no traits or features even close to mine. Not one of them is
Chimera." he grumbled.

Papa don't preach
Im in trouble deep
Papa don't preach
I've been loosing sleep
but I made up my mind
Im keeping my baby
Oo Oo
Im gonna keep my baby
Ooo-oh

He says that he's going to marry me
and we can raise a little family
maybe we'll be alright
it's a sacrifice

But my friends keep tellin me to give it up
saying im too young
I oughta live it up
what i need right now is some good advice
Please

"Why who said you were a Chimera when the children were
made?" she said bewildered.

Everyone looked at her in shock. "You mean.....I..." he
studdered.

"Find your cure? Of course. Your so close to it. BUT I will give
you this warning. Dont let looking for it, get in the way of the feelings
you have towards the people around you. Otherwise, one of these children,
perhaps even more, may never be born." she warned the group. "Do not
stray from your lives because of what you have seen. Do not search.
It will all happen in good time."

"How do you know all of that!?!" Zelgadis yelled.

The old woman blinked and looked away for a moment. "I...I
dont know. I just...know. These things are coming to me so I know
exactly what this is all about." she smiled innocently.

"So....can we know who is the parent of each?" Filia asked from
the back.

"Well..", The woman hesitated looking around. "I'm not
supposed to, but I guess if you...guess by looking, then I could
simply say yes or no and it would not harm anything. Who knows, it may
be the right path." she smiled.

Lina pushed to the front and stared into the image. "Well it's
obvious that the girl playing the drums is Xellos's kid." she said.

"Whys that?" questioned the old woman with a smirk.

"Well....that hair for one. He's the only one here with Purple
hair. And the whole nickname. The Trickster? That's his alright."
Lina grinned proud of herself.

"And the singer has to be Amelia's because the Princess thing.
Plus she kinda looks like her. I mean the same eyes and sort of the
same color of hair. But it's lighter than Amelia's. But the voice
doesn't match." Lina said confused.

"Yeah, plus I can't sing." Amelia blushed.

Papa dont preach
Im in trouble deep
Papa dont preach
I've been loosing sleep
but I made up my mind
I'm keepin my baby
Oo Oo
Im gonna keep my baby
Ooo-oh

(guitar bridge)

Daddy Daddy if you could only see
just how good he's been treating me
you'd give us your blessing right now
cause we are in love
we are in looove
so please

"Zel can though. Remember Zel? And you can play the guitar.
Remember on the ship?" Gourry put in and everyone either blushed
or face-faulted (except for Gourry of course) as they realized the
singers parents were Zelgadis and Amelia.

"Well, well you figured that out quite quickly. What
about...the red head."

Gourry stepped forward, obviously being the only one to be
brave enough to match up the couples.

"But that only leaves, Lina, Xellos, Gourry and... myself."
Filia gulped afraid of the answer.

"Oh! Look! Look! Filia Look! That drummer girl has the same tail
you do!" Filia turned blue and fainted realizing her fate, stuck as
the mother to Xellos's child. Xellos simply chuckled and picked her
up.

"But that leaves just me and...Gourry." Lina said quietly.

"That's funny Lina, she doesn't look like me..." he said
confused.

"Let's just say," The old woman popped in, "That she got
more of her mothers looks, and her fathers skills."

"Oh great." Lina muttered. "I've got an incompitent child."

The old woman laughed. "No, no. I meant his sword skills.
Though she can be clumsy...but the point is, she inherited both
of you, the looks just got dominated by her mother. Do not doubt she
is yours though." the woman smiled at Gourry. Already he was proud.
He had a daughter, just like her mother and as skilled as him. Oh yes,
he was proud.

Papa dont preach (drum break/guitar streak)

(drums)

As the song ended the girls became more playful, The
Trickster banging on the drums more eratically, Fireball, in turn,
playing around with her guitar and The Princess laughing and dancing
around more. Suddenly voices came from off the area of veiwing.

"Abigail! Cassandra! Ginna!" Came Lina's voice. The group
gasped hearing one of their own member in the future. "Guys, it's
time for lunch."

The Firecracker squinted her face at Lina. "Aww, but
moooom! We were just getting into our second song!" she said, sitting
down on the edge of what appeared to be a stage and jumping down to
her mother, who now appeared on the screen.

"No if's, and's or but's young lady, food. Now Ginna!" At this
Lina, Gourry AND Ginna's ears perked up. Before they knew what was
happening, Abigail was gone and the other two girls were laughing.

"Come on, Cassy, let's go get some food before it's all gone,"
The Princess, now known as Abigail, said, wrapping her arm around her
friends shoulder. Moments ago Filia had just woken from her faint
and watched as the two walked away, a golden tail swinging from
behind her 'daughter's' skirt. She fainted....again. Right into
Xellos's arms, who was grinning yet again.

	LATER THAT NIGHT...

"Well that certainly was...interesting." Lina said to Amelia
as the two girls sat by the fireside.

"Yeah." Amelia smiled. "To think, Zelgadis and me will someday
have a little girl." she giggled.

"Yeah, me and Gourry too. Oh gods, and Filia and Xellos.
That's just a bit scary." Lina laughed.

"Oh well. You know, im glad we ran into that place." Amelia
sighed standing up and going into her tent.

"Ah,but you forget." Lina commented to noone in particular,
looking up at the stars. "It was destiny." She smiled, closing her eyes.
