I long for the warmth of days gone by
When you were mine
But now those days are memories in time
Life’s empty without you by my side
My heart belongs to you
No matter what I try
His reverie interrupted, Xelloss smirked as Lina hurled another giant roast at his head, the unburnt meat all gnawed from it. Some things would never change, even if you wanted them to. Zelgadiss glared at him over a cup of coffee, then, when they were both sure no one was looking, offered him a reassuring wink. Xelloss chuckled merrily and ducked a bowl of soup from Lina. These encouraging signs were getting bigger every day... Now if only he could pull his mind away from the ancient past...
When I get courage up to love somebody new
It always falls apart ‘cause they just
Can’t compare to you
You love won’t release me
I’m bound under ball and chain
Reminiscing our love as I watch four season’s change
Two thousand years without love... How had he survived so long? Every year seemed to flow into the next, time had no meaning at all to one as old as he. Except for the seasons changing, it might be the same day. The pain of losing everything he had back then never really seemed to fade. Still, it seemed like he finally had hope, the way things were going with Zelgadiss lately. Maybe this time, after all these years, it might work out... Wishful thinking, he knew, but it was hard to give up hope of finding someone to fill the hole in his life torn so many seasons ago.
In comes the winter breeze
That chills the air and drifts the snow
And I imagine kissing you under the mistletoe
When springtime makes its way here
Lilac blooms reminds me of the scent of your perfume
When summer burns with heat
I always get the hots for you
Go skinny dippin’ in the ocean where we used to do
When autumn sheds the leaves the trees are bare
When you’re not here it doesn’t feel the same
Another damn face off... Why couldn't he see? Why did he have to be so blind to the pain flickering behind the bemused malice in his dark violet eyes? 'Why does everything have to be so hard?' he asked himself. No memories... He couldn't decide which was more painful, the days when he thought his lover was dead or seeing him like this every few months, angry at him, not remembering their past together, only thinking of revenge and hatred, his eyes the same sweet shade of amber but warped into snakelike diamonds... 'Monster eyes,' he thought, wondering if his own were so cold, so full of pain, misery, hatred... Yes, those were the things they lived for, consumed, but it didn't have to be the end-all of their existence... He had seen that, two thousand years ago, in these same amber eyes...
Remember the nights when we closed our eyes
And vowed that you and I would be in love for all time
Anytime I think about these things is shared with you
I break down and cry ‘cause I get so emotional
Until you release me I’m bound under ball and chain
Reminiscing our love as I watch four seasons change
'Don't make me hurt you,' he wanted to beg. 'Please, Val, if you remeber anything, even the faintest trace of what we used to be to each other, don't make me hurt you.' But he couldn't say it out loud, and Valgaav didn't seem able to remember on his own... And so all he could do was fight back, trying not to injure him too much, until he could escape, and maybe try to talk his way into Zelgadiss's arms... Hoping that, this time, his love could last forever.
This loneliness
Has crushed my heart
Please let me love again
‘Cause I need your love to comfort me and ease my pain
Or four seasons will bring the loneliness again
