Set up Email in Outlook Express 5 & 6


1.) To begin the process, open Outlook Express. Click on 'Tools', then 'Accounts' to get started.

 

2.) If this is the first time Outlook Express has been run, the 'Internet Connection Wizard' will start automatically. If it doesn't, click on 'Add', then 'Mail', as shown below.

 

3.) For 'Display name:', type in your name as you'd like it to appear on outgoing emails. This will show up in place of your actual email address. click 'Next' to continue.

 

4.) Choose 'I already have an e-mail address that I'd like to use'. Type in your email address, using all-lowercase letters. Don't forget to put the @ symbol, and do not use any spaces whatsoever. Click 'Next' to continue.

 

5.) This screen should read as is shown below. If for some reason the image is unavailable, use the following information:

Click 'Next' to continue.

 

6.) Your 'Account name:' should already be filled in. If not, type in the first part of your username, where username is username@bestnetpc.com. Do not type in the @bestnetpc.com here. Type in your password. Make sure that both items are typed in all-lowercase letters, then click 'Next' to continue.

 

7.) Click 'Finish' here to complete the setup process.

 

10.) Click 'Close' on the window below, and you'll be ready to use your email account. Close Outlook Express. Re-open Outlook Express. Once you are returned to the main Outlook Express window, go ahead and send yourself a test message to make sure everything is configured correctly.
