My Remembrance for 9/11

 

 

A year ago today

Our world was changed

The face of our planet

Rearranged

This travesty was meant to bring us misery

But it brought forth the power

We’ve shown through our history

The sleeping giant awoke again

 

A year ago our unity was to be severed

But it grew stronger

Our freedom was to be taken

But you hold became stronger

Our spirits were to be crushed

But we were uplifted

From the ashes of tragedy we found promise

From the ashes of defeat we found victory

 

On the Eleventh day of September of two-thousand-and-one

We became united

We became one

It was a year ago today

And the memory is still strong

Though we may forgive, we will never forget

For we live for those who’ve had their last breath

It was a year ago today
