Corner Brook 2002
Ahhh...the day we got stuck with the truck in the woods...Jana proved to be a great runner, I proved to be a great backer upper, the truck proved to be a useless vehicle in the snow. Well I guess snow tires might have helped ;)

On the other hand, the day was absolutely beautiful. This photo hardly does it justice. Photo: Jana

Our trip to the Bottom Brook Arboretum. The Arboretum contains many exotic tree species planted by the Dept. of Natural Resources in the late 1960's. The species are mainly from Europe, Japan and other parts of Canada. Much to my excitement there were many, many pine species!
Small Mammal Survey October 7th to 11th, 2002: Our camp on the shore of Red Indian Lake. Luckily we had a beautiful sunny week. There was frost just about every morning, however! Brrr...
On the last day of the survey we caught a Newfoundland Marten...definetly the highlight of the trip. The young female was not radio tagged. Due to her stressed out condition it was not safe to immobilize her.
I know this is a really bad picture...but if you look closely you can see the marten just after we set her free.
L to R: Patricia, Paige, Andrea, Martin & Bonnie hiking the hills behind Humber Village. Looks like a prime spot for a birch sap farm to me!
The view of the Humber Valley from the top.
Our appartment at SWGC (a modern version of Burton's Pond!). Pretty nice eh? Good times!
