On the Line
First, let me say this: I liked the movie. I am well aware that it got one star. I don't care. I hardly ever agree with the critics anyway. And they made fun of it for supposedly doing worse than Mariah Carey's movie, when, when you look at the facts, it did quite well. It only open in about 1/3 of the theaters nationwide, while Glitter opened everywhere. With that said, let us move on.
I'm sure you all know the plot anyway, so I'm not going to bore you with a total review. Basically, Kevin is a wimp when it comes to girls. He meets the right girl, is a total dork and does not get her name or number, then decides to find her. Gee, I wonder if he'll ever succeed...
Here are just some of my thoughs:
- Lance. Topless. Sweaty. Nice.
- In the opening scene of the present, where ARE that kid's parents? I mean, seriously, what kind of parent lets his seven year old brat ride a TRAIN in CHICAGO by HIMSELF? Honestly.
- Ree. BAWK! Ree. BAWK! Hilarious. Go Lance.
- Speaking of which: Lance really didn't do all that bad a job. I've seen worse. ::cough JUSTIN cough:: Seriously, there were some parts where I was cringing, but hey, I can ignore them. And to be prefectly honest...
- The script wasn't all that great. There were just some of the cheesiest lines ever, and some of the dialogue just wasn't believable. And they had so many bad, bad, bad, sound effects. Such as the little bell going off when the bratty train boy smiled. And when Joey shook his head at the baseball BBQ. Please.
- Back to the acting. Joey did pretty good. Even though his character sucked. I mean, wow, he's a farting, wannabe rock star. Wow, what a complex character, so much depth...But hey, you deal with what you get, and Joey dealt pretty well.
- Lance's friends really bugged me. I cannot picture his character hanging out with any of them. Except for maybe that preppy guy. But I didn't like him. The rapper guy I had varying feelings about, cuz he did act like a total jerk, but he had his sweet moments...but he confuses me, so no cool points for him.
- Lance's punch: GO LANCE!!! WHOOPIE!!! Oh. ::sigh:: More on this later, when I describe that fateful night of...whenever it was that we went to see OTL...
- Lance. Hardcore. All about the rock. Right...And what guy in this "best high school band ever" wear a button down shirt? Honestly. What ever happened to torn T-shirts and jeans?
- You know that Mr.Prep did not say "We all messed Kevin over." You know that he said "screwed Kevin over," then they just dubbed in "messed" to make it PG-friendly. Don't lie.
- Aw...touching, yet cheesy, line about love making the ride worth while. Nice...and isn't it a coincidence that she was on that very same train?
- Pork happens. I liked the look on Lance's face when that ROWR woman showed up. *giggles madly*
- Lance breakdances! Whoopie! Again, more on this when I talk about our OTL outing.
- Get this: Lance doesn't get solos on the albums anymore, so he gets a quick three-liner in his movie. "I'm so tired of being lonely, so tired of on my own..." Nice.
- Kevin really needs to learn how to lipread. In that dream, even I could tell that the girl's name was Abby. Even if I didn't know that ahead of time, I could have figured it out. Sheesh.
- The funniest part: the "Behind the Scenes" thingamajig. Is that pathetic? I don't care. It's a classic. "More like *N Stink." "You can't said that." "I did. I don't care." God, they were so gay. LOL! "I want to see this from CHI-NA!" Oooo, Lance is getting pissed. I really hope that wasn't real hairspray he sprayed at Chris. "I have two words for you: You are this generation's Marlon Brando." "And you: De Ni-ro." Um, you have to see it. But it's hilarious. And either Justin is a really good ventriloquist (sp?), or they did a helluva lot of dubbing. Yeah...so, basically it was Juju and Chris being gay, Lance being a Mr. Hollywood, Joey being just...Joey.
Yeah. So the movie wasn't the best. And I don't know what Lance was saying about it not being a chick flick. It was a CHICK FLICK. But I like chick flicks...I mean, really. I'm a (Boom)chik, and I like flicks. Go figure...I liked it, it made me laugh, it made me "aw," it made me almost break Dorge's hand...but most importantly, it made me happy. ::insert aw-chorus here:: I'd probably give it an 8 out of 10. Peace.
