I was just reading Innocents RAWA challenge
Thinking about that sparked the following thoughts

Afghanistan has been torn up in civil wars for decades. Before the Taliban government, there have been 3 major civil wars in Afghanistan in not even 10 years time. Afghanistan has been crying out for help for years now, but seemingly, to deaf ears. The Western world has been too wrapped up in their own petty problems to pay much notice to what was happening in Afghanistan.

In fact, Russia and America fought their own war, using Afghanistan as their battlefield.
When in 1979 Russia invaded Afghanistan to fight the Mujahideen (a muslim extremist group), America immediately chose the side of the Mujahideen. America provided the Mujahideen with weapons and the like.
The same weapons then provided are now used by Osama Bin Laden (a former member of the Mujahideen group) to fight off the Americans.
Ironic, isn't it?

However, the thing that crossed my mind when reading about Innocents RAWA challenge wasn't this. What shocked (and in a way disgusted) me was, that it had to take the horrific september 11th attacks to finally make us realize that what is going on in Afghanistan is terrible, and that something needs to be done.
Because face it, how many of us have thought much about what happens to women in Afghanistan? How many of us have thought to start something like Innocents has done now?

And, to be quit honest, if it had to take such a thing as the terrorist attacks to make us pay a little attention to what is happening in not only Afghanistan, but also DR Congo (fyi, a major civil war. all help send by America was a bunch of musical instruments, so 'they could pray'. there was hardly any media coverage) and other parts of the world, this is what we deserve to be happening to us.

Ick, bad day today. Me and some of my friends are going to THIMUN (model united nations) this year, and we were dividing places. We represent UNIFEM, and we've got places in ECOSOC (2), Human Rights 1, Human Rights 2, Human Rights 3, Special Conference 1 and Special Conference 2. Naturally, every one wanted in ECOSOC, since no one likes to be alone in a committee. So last week, Judith and I got in ECOSOC, and I was all happy. But somehow today we had to re-divide the places. So now I'm in SC2 :(. We had to draw lots, and of course I lost :(, I always loose in that kind of thing. And as I was feeling lousy already anyway, I guess it kinda showed that I hated not being in ECOSOC anymore, so Deline, being the sweety she is, offered to change places (she wás in SC2, and now is in ECOSOC). I said no to that, lol. Deline wanted that place in ECOSOC too, *shrugs* and I guess SC2 will be okay too. She insisted though, that if I *really* do not want to be in SC2 in a week orso, we *will* change places.

Oh, and my parents may buy me a domain! :), my mother asked me the other day if I wanted my own tv for Saint Nicolaus (december 5th), and I said I don't know...So I might ask for my own domain, where I can have a blog/content site (I see the mess Dreama is having with a combined dollz/blog site, I don't want that), if I want a blog/content site, of course. I don't know yet. ~Charlene @ 19.11 [mail]

Today in Science class I was talking to Tom and Gerco, about graduation and what to do after that. It was cool. We talked a lot about travelling, not so much about college. After graduation, Judith and I are going back-packing through Australia for a year, it's gonna be so much fun!
College, though, I hate to talk about. I *know* I should figure out what I want to do, and I *know* I should figure it out soon too. But I haven't a clue yet. Deline said Spanish would *suit* me, and I'd like to study it too (I have a weird obsession for anything Spanish, lol), but there are so little job options after the study. *shrugs* Oh well, I'll figure it out, eventually.
Deline and I made an agreement: *if* I am going to study Spanish, we are going to South America together after college. Lol, that so increased the chance of me studying Spanish. Deline, love ya, hon!

In English class though, I got 64% for my test (and it counts for 15% for graduation), and I'm so pissed. I don't think I've *ever* had a grade so low for English. I normally score at least 85%, usually even 90+. Great start for graduation, eh? English is supposed to be my best freakin' class. Judith had 64% too, Floris even 58%. The three of us, and Tessa (who scored 76%) are probably the best in English in our class. And we all had low scores. I swear there must be something wrong with the test! It's so pissing me off, and Judith and Floris are feeling exactly the same way. We're all going to take the test again (unless I *have* to do philosophy at least).

I also can't get onto the internet on my computer (I'm at my fathers right now. I can't believe how slow my computer is compared to his!), so I won't be on-line a lot, and no updates for a while. I have 3 new dollz ready, and Symin made an awesome sister banner for us too, but I can't upload them :(.
I did get the paperwork for my domain, though. I should have it in about a week, I think. yay for me!
