Black on Black Crimes

We should be a Black family having each other's back. The show Good Times was about that. Taking care of family and the community no matter what. As a Black people we should all practice Harambe! We should practice unity. We should be a united people no matter where we are in the world. One of the obstacles to Black unity is Black on Black crime. Simply put…we need to stop that.

Attacking and killing each other just splits the Black race into fragments. Black on Black crime contributes to the dissolving of us as a unified people. And attacking and killing are not the only forms of Black on Black crime. Stealing from each other is a crime as well. Stealing folks cars, breaking into folks homes, and mugging them of their designer named clothing and shoes are all crimes.

Then there are the Black on Black moral crimes. Having an affair with the spouse of your Black Brother or your Black Sister. Come on….we need to stop that. Lying on your Black Brother or Black Sister just to make yourself look good to a boss or a committee. We need to uplift each other not tear each other down so we can gain something from it.

Then there are the Black on Black crimes on our dignity. This may offend some folks but Black porno does not dignify anyone. Looking at images of Black Brothers and Black Sisters sexing each other does not lift up the Black race. How can it? How can we expect and promote a 15 year old Black teenage young lady to respect herself and then in just three years the same folks telling her to respect herself are paying to see her in porno media. How can someone respect her at 15 years old and not at 18 years old? We need to hold the Black image to a much higher standard.

There are a lot of people who want a Black revolution. A revolution is about revolting. About revolutionizing. About a radical change from the norm. Change works best from the inside out. It's good to want the exterior of the Black world to change but what good will it do if the insides of the Black world are the same.

Just think for a moment. What if we all wake up tomorrow morning and the only people left in America were Black people? Would the crime stop? Would the oppression stop? Personally I don't think so because if we are committing Black on Black crime now we will still do so in an all Black society. If one sector of the Black population is oppressing another (gangs, domestic violence, etc.) that same activity would still be there in an all Black population. I give all respect for the Brothers and Sisters fighting the revolution. Without them racial violence on the Black community would be greater. So while they are fighting what I call the exterior fight, the rest of us need to fight the interior fight. Fighting against drugs, against a brotherhood or sisterhood through a violent gang, against disrespect of each other, against men not being fathers and women not being mothers. Against all the interior issues that plague the Black community. So that we are just as strong on the inside of our community as we are on the outside.
