Charms

Teacher: Professor William Friz (Professor Friz)

Books Used: The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1

"Good morning class. I am Professor Friz, teacher of Charms. There is a difference between Charms and Spells. Charms are the action. For example, levitating an object. Spells are the words said to activate the Charm. Does everyone understand?"

"In every Charm, you must concentrate on the object you wish to Charm. Then, perform the correct wand movement. Most of the movements are just flicking your wand, though. Next, say the spell. Each spell must be pronounced right."

"Since I mentioned levitation, you will first learn the Levitation Charm. I will write the spell on the board, and the pronunciation guild as well."

"You will use a feather to practice. Flick your wand at the feather and recite the spell clearly. Please do memorize the words. Let me demonstrate."

Professor Friz flicked his wand at a Spells book and muttered some words under his breath. The book hovered a metre over the students' heads. He used another Charm to send the book down.

"It is now your turn."

Professor Friz flicked his wand and every student had a feather.

Professor Friz clapped joyfully. He flicked his wand and the suspended feathers and they disappeared.

"Please send it your name and I'll award you 5 points. As it is your first day, I would not like to give you homework. Class dismissed!"
