Ashwinder Notes

This magical creature is called an Ashwinder because:-

- it comes from the fire which is soon reduced to ashes

- it leaves an ashy trail behind

- it will collaspe into dust, sometimes ash

Parseltongues are able to converse with Ashwinders and find out more about it. This is because the Ashwinder is a snake.

Ashwinders are not very dangerous. The eggs are dangerous. They will set the dwelling on fire if not frozen. Ashwinders will of course be born and will lay more eggs.

To locate any Ashwinder, one has simply to follow the trail of ash it leaves behind. This is why although dangerous, it is given an XXX rating. A competant wizard can handle the Ashwinder.

Loves Potions are not recommended, although not banned. That is why when frozen, the Ashwinder eggs are of great value for Love Potions.

Ashwinders are found worldwide because there are fires worldwide.

Ashwinders can only appear in wizard households because it can emerge only from a magical fire. That is another reason why the Ashwinder is given an XXX rating. It is not harmful to Muggles.

However, although it emerges from a wizard households, it can travel to Muggle households. This is rare because if the Ashwinder does not lay its eggs quickly, it will collapse into dust.

We say an Ashwinder does not die because it collapses into dust.
