February 2002 was the mildest February recorded since 1998 and the wettest since 1990. A very mild month, but also extremely wet and stormy, particularly from the 20th onwards. A very sunny month even though eight sunless days were recorded. Hail fell on the 9th February, 20th February, 26th February and 27th February. Strong winds were recorded on the 22nd February, 26th February and 27th February.
The prevailing wind direction was a tug of war between South-East, South-West and North-West.
