October 2002 was much cooler than October 2002 but overall had average temperature. It was a wetter than average month despite the fact that no rain fell during the first eleven days. In fact, no rain fell at all between September 10th and October 11th, an absolute drought of 31 days. It beat the 27 day absolute drought earlier in the year, that was between March 21st and April 17th. The final three weeks of the month were very unsettled. Although sunshine totals were around average, it was the dullest October recorded since 1992. There hasn't been a very dry October since 1985.
