ASPIE BEHAVIOUR IN 1990 - PART I

On Tuesday, 9th January 1990, I was asked if I remembered a pupil named "Wayne Kerr" who was in my year. I said that I couldn't remember anyone by that name. The person who asked me it said that "Kerr" wasn't there for long. I said it wasn't surprising I couldn't remember him, before then twigging it was a joke and that it was meant as a derogative term in the UK.

Twelve days later, on Sunday, 21st January 1990, I cycled down to my uncle's house (See Sunday 17th December 1989 and Sunday, 15th September 1991). We had a cup of tea and I started asking him all sorts of questions about Buddy Holly, who he was a fan of. Nearly three weeks later, as my interest had started to know what music was like in the mid-1950's, I bought my Grandmother a tape called "Golden Oldies" on Friday, 9th February 1990. I think it consisted of hits from the 1950's. I bought it with my pocket money. In fact, it was the day Del Shannon shot himself, the singer of "Runaway", "Hats off to Larry" and "Keep Searchin' (Find the Sun". I went down to my Grandmother's that evening, and listened to it, and then gave it to her.

Carrying with my music obsession, on the evening of Monday, 29th January 1990, with my parents, I went to some kind of careers evening for my options at Secondary School, asking what I was interested in and wanted to do. I can't recall the answers I gave or what I said. The event was held at the Eldon Centre. I remember asking the guy who I was talking what his date his date of birth was. He replied "11th October 1953". I know I told him what was number one on the day he was born, but I can't remember if I told him what day he was born on.

On Wednesday 14th March 1990, I went to the same relatives house as on Sunday, 21st January 1990. This was in the early evening. He wasn't in. It was after school. I asked her if she thought that Farzad Bazoft, the alleged spy, was going to be hanged in Iraq, as he was the following day. I also rambled on about that and something else.

On Sunday, 13th May 1990, I had a discussion with the late Mr Bradley and another late neighbour, Mr Edwards, about old songs from the 1950's and 1960's. Two months later, around Tuesday, 17th July, I lent a record of songs from the 1950's from a neighbour. The music obsession with songs from around that time gradually waned in early 1991.

I remember going on a bike ride with a friend who lived down the street, on Saturday, 2nd June 1990 with a friend, who lived on my streeet. We drove through Monk Bretton graveyard. We saw the graves of his Grandparents, and nearby was the legendary Manchester United football Tommy Taylor, who was killed in the Munich Aircrash. I remember, to this day, that his Grandfather died on Friday, 25th February 1966, aged 66.

On Wednesday, 13th June 1990, in Geography, Mr Hayward started talking about the Suez crisis of Egypt in 1956, when Colonel Nasser seized control of the Aswan high dam. I hijacked his lesson, and gave a lecture on the subject in front of a silent class. Though I generally wasn't well-liked at Secondary school, that day all the kids present all sat in silence, all looked at me and listened. When I finished, everybody gave me a round of applause, and Mr Hayward was highly impressed. He was so impressed, that he gave a merit slip for it. That evening, I visited my Aunt's house, and gave her the same lecture. I don't know what gave me this feeling, but I felt that somehow, she wasn't exactly enthralled by my lecture on the subject. That evening I cycled to my Aunt's house (See 21st January and 14th March 1990) and gave her a monologue, without drawing breath, about the speech I gave earlier that day).
